I bought a used psp and the psp ratchet and clank games and was SO excited to play Secret Agent Clank and the exact moment I was getting started with the game the UMD drive just quit working. This isn’t funny life I was so excited to see James Bond Clank and now I’m BLUEBALLED

WITH THAT BEING SAID, i think just in terms of sheer gameplay polish and visual fidelity, as well as the inclusion of Rivet which is a character design I adore, Rift Apart is probably my favorite in the series??? after that it would either be A Crack in Time or Up Your Arsenal but those kinda go back and forth so I'm not exactly sure which I prefer to the other.

had an utter brain blast moment last night bc I was revisiting my troubling and deranged special interest in Ratchet and Clank and how Alister Azimuth fits all the categories of Sad Troubled Old Man that tumblr loves but the problem is that he’s a fictional furry creature which ruins everything but THEN I thought. I could make him some guy. My new pet project is to trick everyone into adopting a new Old Man by giving Alister Azimuth a human design and not telling anyone where he’s from until more than one person has been compelled by him. I will then force them to suffer my fate of knowing what he truly is and all the shame that comes with it

I’m checking back up on this blog again and I think I’ve been too hard on the furry people and the ppl who think characters like Nefarious are attractive. Sure I don’t relate but it’s not like it’s a big problem that’s hurting anyone. That said I would like to see a little less of that brand of art and maybe some more just. appreciation for other parts of the series ig? I barely see anyone talking abt environmental stuff or writing progression or music, instead half the tag is Lombaxes along with Talwyn, Sasha, or Angela Cross, and it comes across as people only paying attention to the characters they can make furry sexy art about instead of any real genuine love for the characters. That’s been my deal with it usually. Funnily enough the Clank enjoyers are usually the people with a better balance on that, probably bc making exclusively smut art about a barely 1 foot tall weirdly naive sarcastic robot all the time is a lot harder than it looks, no matter how many admirers he has in and outside of canon lmao. I definitely don’t want to sanitize the place, but when the only thing +18 up about the tag is the art and y/n reader writing type of thing and there’s a nonzero amount of full grown adults like me who enjoy these games it gets a little isolating and uncomfortable. Opening the general tag for something you’ve liked since elementary school and feeling like you got redirected to Deviantart can get frustrating and isolating real fast lmao

#ratchet and clank #I guess I still have a lot to say abt it GNGBDBF #I was just thinking about how weirdly sanitized and clean and inoffensive all the new shit is compared to the old PS2 era #and how dry and barely human the dialogue is between characters #and just the way insomniac has lost its ‘voice’ over the years #like there used to be such a recognizable flair to insomniac’s shit but now #if you told me another company was doing these new games for R&C I would believe it #the only game that really has any sampling of their style is their Spider-Man game #it has their orchestra going ham and a lot of their unique gameplay mechanics and just a very involved feel #but meanwhile it looks like they’re shelling out souless new R&C content #made specifically for furries and ppl that don’t know enough about the series to be mad abt the new direction #anyone that was a fan of the PS2 era and even the first two or three games of the PS3 era has seen a marked change #whether they like it or not is something I can’t really say for certain—there’s a lot of fans that will say they like something #just to try and force themselves not to be upset abt something they can’t really change #and then ppl who could really care less about the change for one reason or another #(I know it’s not for gameplay lmao— the new games barely have any gameplay to enjoy— #that doesn’t force storyline down ur throat at the same time) #and I guess what rubs salt in the wounds is that I know that it could be done better #if this was valve or some company like activision I would have just thrown in the towel and called it a day #knowing I couldn’t ask any better of them bc they either don’t listen or have hit or miss games on the regular anyway #but the fact that it’s insomniac— a very capable game company with lots of new money coming in and plenty of old and new fans #and long time employees— means that they CAN do better they just won’t. #because they either don’t care about how their series continuity or og fans take their content #or they would rather alienate them and get money from the furries and children looking for a subpar sci-fi game w random guns sometimes #the fact that it’s from a company that has the resources and time and money to make the game the best it could be but refuse is the worst #especially when that attitude is for a game that’s been a special interest and part of your life from a child to an adult #I mean— I’m not trying to be one of those ‘PS2 era was obviously better actshuallee’ ppl bc obviously they had plenty of flaws #and I definitely don’t want to make it seem like this is all born out of nostalgia #it’s just that objectively when you look at this series and have seen what it CAN do and compare it to what it’s doing now? #it just seems very unambitious and bland. nothing old and nothing new
