Everything at Once

I’ve just listened to this song from 2012, which everyone has heard at some point and actually paid attention to the lyrics and I’ve noticed something.

This song, where the singer Lenka tells us about everything she wants to be starts normally with casual heroic attributes such as “ As sly as a fox, as strong as an ox. As fast as a hare, as brave as a bear” but then Lenka sings that she wants to be “...as big as a house.” and I started wondering, what does she really want to be?

She then starts listing out much darker stuff “ As mean as a wolf, as sharp as a tooth. As deep as a bite, as dark as the night.”.

She proceeds to list out way too many opposites “ ...as dark as the night.”-” Bright as day,..“, “...as right as a wrong.” “ As hot as fire, cold as ice .”

It finally hit me with these lyrics “ As warm as the sun, as silly as fun. As cool as a tree, as scary as the sea.” “As old as time, as straight as a line. As royal as a queen, as buzzed as a bee. Stealth as a tiger, smooth as a glider.” She wants to be an eldritch being of some sorts. An old god. And I’m slightly terrified of this possibility.
