Which outfit of Scarlet do you think is the zestiest? I wanna make an art of it (I'm not gay, I swear)

Oh this is certainly a question to shoot, I’ve had some trouble deciding so here’s a little breakdown of things taken into account (official art look, clothes without hair taken into consideration, potential if drawn with a different pose or expression)…

General winner:

Will of Fire has it all - good art, design that makes sense and takes advantage of Scarlet’s physique, lore implications that are great to ponder over

Very nice sets in general (no major complaints):

Hana Style | ANBU | Royal Dress

They all have very good things going on, especially Hana Style which is quite unique even when compared to the rest from the same set (definitely 2nd place winner!)

Sets that are rather nice but have shortcomings:

Mythical Journey | Punk State | Hyakki Yagyo

They are either slightly “overdesigned” or have some stuff like hair or accessories that are questionable choices… probably if drawn with those changed and in a different “mood” they would become much more appealing

I’m also guilty of thinking that his basic outfit is great, would probably place 2nd or 3rd depending on the day

My first choice was Breeze Dancer!! I was a big fan of the wind fighting style, and her character design is really cute. I also liked to imagine the lore implications of a fan fighter in Konoha instead of the Sand Village. If you have any tidbits of Breeze lore, I will happily consume all of it. Number one Breeze enthusiast (random headcanon, for whatever reason, I imagine her being besties with Kakashi and Gai. They would have the funniest dynamic + unstoppable team between Kakashi’s versatility, Gai’s taijutsu, and Breeze’s long range).

Second was Azure Fang, simply because I wanted to be a healer main for a bit (I really like being healer characters in games), but I found myself switching back to Breeze because I wasn’t a fan of Azure’s move set outside of her healing ability + I already had a good healer with Sakura on my team. She has a really cute design, though. I can imagine her being a pupil of Tsunade or even Shizune. Would make a cute trio with Sakura and Ino, too!

And finally, my third was Scarlet Blaze. He gives easy-going tactician vibes and I’m all for that. I headcanon him as the resident ANBU of the protags (mostly because I think his ANBU outfit looks the best). Also really like his fighting style visually, it just looks cool.

It’s really hard finding people that are just as obsessed with the Naruto Online protags, so this blog is a blessing. Really healing to middle school me, cuz I would do nothing but draw fanart of all the protags (mainly Breeze and Scarlet. I always liked to imagine they have a funny rivalry dynamic, like Kakashi and Gai).

These are all quite interesting :D I like how you pay so much attention to the fighting styles /skill sets and even the environmental compatibility in case of Breeze! And this made me realize that maybe I should make a masterpost for all of the information available on the mains right now so future viewing and cross-examining each of their characters would be easier (will get to that after my current workload lessens in a few weeks). Maybe that could give you some more insight on Breeze, since I think one of the promotional videos implied she has been working alongside the Sand Siblings for some time - thus maybe the choice of weapon?

Also I can totally relate to the struggle of finding likeminded fans of the mains and am happy to share that there is still a small (but creative ;3) community sticking around, so if you want to maybe get a look around shoot me a DM @nullians and we’ll see how things go from there? (What’s on tumblr is of course fair game for viewing but I’m thinking of discords too and not all of those are public). And if you want to, please feel encouraged to share your artworks! The more the merrier and it’s always great joy to see how differently the game has touched each person

I have to know who your first protag choice was and who your favorite protag is.

Oh, I’m kind of surprised that it’s not painfully obvious here but sure, let’s do this!

The first protag I played wasn’t even my choice since it was my younger sibling who roped me into the game but looking back I’m sure I would’ve picked the same one and only Midnight Blade. There is something about child soldiers who take themselves so seriously that makes me unable to look away from them. I guess the fact that Midnight is the youngest one among the protags also made me more willing to “give him a chance”.

From today’s perspective though… I think it would be an almost even split between Midnight and Scarlet, with Scarlet coming out on top. Midnight has a lot of interesting tidbits going on about his preference to work alone and not be disturbed, and his bounty hunter occupation, and his ANBU skill, possibly past. And he also holds one over Scarlet with how attached I tend to get to my first accounts.

But objectively speaking it’s Scarlet who has the most complete background from all of the protags, and it builds a very compelling image for him too. Family death, the resulting trauma, and glimpses of revenge as a part of his motivation - they all blend so well with how he behaves in the “present” - being a calculating but cheerful, ambitious to a fault and yet seemingly carefree shinobi. And he’s only 16 years old and he’s already loaded with such sense of responsibility for his clan’s future! (Scroll through the #character trivia tag to see what the deal is about ;D)

It shows that the developers put a lot of thought not only into his story but also into looks and symbolism, and I guess that’s what’s making me choose him as my “objective” favourite today! This of course doesn’t mean I don’t have a massive bias towards Midnight, but I’m certain that without Scarlet the game as we know it today would’ve been different so here’s that

Thanks for uploading the speed of light Photos, However can I ask you where to get the higher resolutions? Another source? I'm saddened to the part that the higher resolutions was lost.

Hi, as I’ve said before the higher resolutions were lost years ago and I don’t have any contacts with the people who might’ve saved them. Tencent most certainly still has those in the original size but you can imagine how unlikely it would be for them to re-release them into the wild. Honestly, the problem mainly lies with how many old Chinese forums were purged and with them the images disappeared as well. Even the official CN forum doesn’t keep the threads/images from a certain point backwards…

I do a routine search through the missing files online every few months but from experience with each year it gets harder and harder to dig things up. If you want to you are welcome to use all kinds of image searches to help with this issue, I would certainly appreciate it and promise to give proper credit if something turns up. Usually the most files I can find are from old tieba baidu threads, though just navigating them is quite difficult since it’s an unofficial forum and nobody tags or names the threads properly. I suspect more could be hidden in old QQ chats but since I have no access to those I can’t do anything…
