Crimson Fists Space Marine (+ paint recipe)

For a change of pace, I wanted to paint a classic chapter with dark colors. I love the result but it confirm I dislike painting darker color. Always find the process of glazing over a dark paint a pain in the butt were you feel like you aren't building any color at all until the very end.

You ever see wonderful work made by someone else and go

“oh wow! I’m Uber inspired now and need to pause whatever project I’m working on to work on something I’ve suddenly been inspired to do!”

Have Space Marine Scout with a plasma pistol! She’s pointing the way to the kill teams next target ^w^

I Uber wish the named character sprues for the Votann had unique female heads on them (or that I didn’t lose them when building my workshop/gaming area 💀)

I totally didn’t accidentally drill all the way thru the plasma pistol arm and have to green stuff the hole XwX

I’m kinda thinking of painting up this killteam as either my imperial fist successor chapter (pic of color scheme below) the Crimson fists, a new lyran guard/Haus Steiner inspired space marine chapter, or a helldivers inspired chapter since well… my boyfriend and I have been playing that a lot and it’s been Uber fun! OR THE LAST OPTION: a last wall protocol killteam where every team member is from a different space marine chapter!

I'm pretty pleased with this one. 7/10.

I thought I'd be done quickly, since the application of the basecoat took me a couple of minutes. But, I seem to always find ways to take long.

I wanted to try my hand at stipple highlights I saw Peachy do on one of his recent videos, but couldn't get them looking right. So, I broke out the sponge.

My biggest issue was replicating the blue highlight since it dried so quickly for some reason. And I also need to figure out how to keep a point on the sponge. Or something that will allow me to be more precise.

I'll maybe add paint to the places I left out next time I paint another mini.
