Nate would usually sit through the nights grading papers whenever he did not have the time at work. He wanted his weekends free from work. He had a meeting on Friday meaning he did not have time for his and Madelyns movie night they planned for. They became less and less lately , but after after being busy several times he felt he needed to see his sister. He sat all afternoon with papers before heading to Madelyns apartment. He knew he was late, but he gotta do what he gotta do to be able to have the days off during the weekend. Being a teacher took up more time than you would think. He was tired and knew there was a risk of him falling asleep on her couch. “Cold eggrolls is not that bad” he spoke hugging her taking his jacket off before crashing down on the couch. “I am sorry, I wanted to finish some work”

It was Wednesday night and an unusual day for Mads and Nathaniel to have their movie night. They would usually meet up on Fridays , watch a movie and talk and rant about their job. However this week Friday was a no go and keeping the family tradition was a must. Nathaniel was both Madelyns little brother as well her best friend. The whole family was tight knit , but the relationship she had with her brother throughout the years was a bond she could never have with anyone else. Looking at the clock she was a bit bothered that the chinese take out came to her door before he did, but told herself he most likely had work to do or maybe got caught up at work. Maybe he had some tests to grade or it was simple as traffic. She was not worried about him not showing up, more about the food getting cold. Mads placed utensils down and some glasses before sitting down on the sofa making sure the movie would be ready to play when he got there. A whole ten minute passed as she door rang and she lifted her small body and made herself to the door “There you are, I hope you like cold eggroles” she joked letting him in with a big hug.

Romeo knew this could be an awkward night but it was important for him to try and reunite with the guy. He sat there as he waited, nerves hit him for some reason he had no clue how this was going to go. Romeo sat there scanning the room as he wasn’t sure if the guy would notice him. As he looked round he notice someone sitting there and noticed it was Nate. He got up from his table with his beer and walked over to the guy for a moment, “Hey man long time no see, how you doing?” He said as he took a seat.
Nathaniel looked at the guy coming up to him with a slight smile. It was more awkward than anything. He had no reason to feel awkward it was years ago, but he could not help it. “It really has, I have been good how about you?” he asked as he ordered a beer for himself. He leaned back a bit awkwardly. He knew it might be best to just get to it and somehow apologize for completely pushing him away as his friend, but at the same time he found it difficult. He was not sure what Romeo was expecting, them to be friends again or him to explain himself, or maybe both.

Nathaniel was surprised to see the message from Romeo. They have been good friends in high school until Nate fucked it up by distancing himself. Nate always had a hard time thinking back to high school. He was struggling with himself and was confused most of the time there. He usually would ignore anything that had to do with that time period, but when he got the message from Romeo he agreed to meet up. It has been years and Nate owed it to him to explain himself. It might be awkward as hell, but years have gone and feelings and thoughts have changed. He just wish he dealt with it differently, but when thinking about it, he most likely dealt with it the way many teens going through those thoughts he did would. He made himself to the place looking inside scanning the room. He noticed a guy by the bar that slightly looked like him, but he wasn’t sure. So, he waited to see if he would look his way.

Romeo had been back in San Francisco for about a year but he hadn’t really reconnected with many people in that time because he had been super busy and trying to connect with his family again. His life in London is something he missed but being home had given him hope in reconnecting with friends from before and his family. He used to be friends with Nate until Nate grew distant in high school but he decided to take a shot and contact him through social media. They agreed to meet for a drink at Lower Haight and he was excited to see if they could reconnect. He sat there at a table at the bar as he ordered a beer for himself as he waited for his friend to walk in. Would he recognise him? He had a slight British accent now and wasn’t sure if that would throw the guy off.

Nathaniel was not much of a relationship person. He hasn't been for several years. He had small relationships every here and there, but they never worked out. He hated the thought of darting, or going on dates more like it. Probably because he had so many bad experiences when it came to it. So, he went with the flow, had a bit of fun every now and then, but spent his time alone. Every now and then someone would ask him out and he would agree with it. Some dates went okay, but never went further, but most of them Nate could not handle and it often ended up with Nate in a bad mood. He accepted a date the other night from a guy he never met before at one of the bars near his home. He seemed alright when they were hanging at the bar, but now sitting at The Ramp in front of him listening to him complain about stupid things he knew he should have said no. He would usually get up and pretend to go to the bathroom and leave, but for some reason he did not have it in him today, instead he looked over at the male and made a comment for him to shut up. As imagined, the male did not take it well and got up, placed some money for his food and left, leaving Nate alone at the table. He felt relief grabbing his drink, taking a sip on it before deciding to wave the waiter over to pay, as he did he noticed a familiar face. Even if it has been years he could recognize Gabes face anywhere. He had no clue he was back in San Francisco knowing he had left after college. He felt stuck not really knowing how to approach the situation, yet he could not look away. He removed his eyes and grabbed his jacket, swallowing as he gave him a small smile with a small wave as he noticed he looked his way.

Nathaniel Conrads was born in San Francisco by his father Martin Conrads and his mother Alice Conrads and is the younger brother of Madelyn Conrads.
In high school he was not the most popular, but he wasn’t disliked either. He had a heap of friends he hung out with most of the time and attended parties with during the weekend. He was very liked. However, the last year of high school he was mostly on his own. He still had his friends, but was struggling with a lot in his mind which often made him push people away. The happy confident Nate was hard to find at this time of his life. The only person Nathaniel believed understood and noticed what he was going through was his older sister Madelyn. He always relied on his sister who always was there by his side ever since they were kids.
Like most high schoolers Nate had issues with figuring out who he was. He struggled accepting that he was gay for a period of time. He wanted to fit in with the few friends he had and like others coming out telling his family was going to be hard. Even if he knew they would support him and love him regardless it was a huge step. However, right before graduation he managed to tell his family with them being supportive of him and that was enough for him to gain back his confidence or at least allow his time at college to be a new start for him and it all went up from there.
After the acceptance of who he was by his family Nate decided there was nothing holding him back to be himself. He was going to college to read to become a teacher and no one there would know who he was. That made it a lot easier for him to be himself and show who he really was. No one could judge him from who he was before even if there was nothing wrong with him then. He graduated college and not long after he was offered a job as an English teacher at the same high school he went to.
If you meet Nathaniel today you would never believe he struggled with his sexuality. He is very open about being gay and doesn’t really care about what other people think of it. The only people who don’t really know about it are his students or the school board not wanting anything to affect his job. Nathaniel is confident most of the time, but if you know him well enough you also know that a lot of his confidence is a way for him to hide his insecurities.
