Gonna try to put everything into one post, but my godddd what an insane night 😭 I honestly can't believe it happened because it kept getting crazier (even with things unrelated to RJ)

We got to the theater pretty early and were the first ones sat in our section in the Royal Circle. The music is super loud but it really sets the vibe, you can't help but bop around to it and multiple people were dancing.

Around 10-ish minutes before the show was supposed to start, I saw this woman coming down the stairs towards the boxes and sitting down, and the reason why I was like ".....is that Z?" was the bun lmao. She sat down and immediately started bopping to the music too (and she later kept dancing to the soundtrack all throughout the interval). No one in our section really noticed she was there at first because she was honestly incredibly discreet coming in, to the point where I told my friend "that's fucking Zendaya" and he didn't believe me at first.

The show was great, and the first act was surprisingly funnier than I was expecting. It starts with Romeo being incredibly weepy and sad, and that completely changes the moment he sees Juliet for the first time - Tom's lovesick obsessed loser heart eyes were 10/10 and made the whole audience laugh.

Tom and Francesca's chemistry was great and even though they sometimes were talking to the audience instead of to each other, you could still feel that this is a stupid teenage boy that's such a loser (and really, Tom plays that so well, you can see Romeo trying to play it cool and failing, his voice breaking from nerves, etc) and a girl that is so much cooler than him. Fran really made this Juliet COOL, and unapologetic, and sassy, and flirty. But when they did kiss, the little handholds and hands brushing together made it 10x better.

They played that ridiculous part of young love so well and the whole audience was cracking up, including Z! She was giggling when Romeo looked like a fool after seeing Juliet for the first time, when he bit his fist when he overheard her saying his name on the balcony, and when the nurse was squeezing his muscles and saying he's hot (she really loved that one lol). I just saw her smiling a lot at those lighter/funnier scenes, it was cute. And speaking of muscles, that tank top really is great and the rumors are true, you can indeed see his abs through it and it's also true that he is very good looking in person.

The way Tom played Romeo's progression was great, he was happy and ecstatic at times and literally screaming in rage at other times. Also his teary eyes really are that good, 10000/10.

Z stayed in her seat during the break and took a selfie with the stage in the background doing like a kissy face, which I thought was really cute. She was dancing the whole time and then when the show ended, she jumped to her feet before anyone else and was cheering so loud the whole time 🥹 and (as I'm sure you already saw in other videos), he looked right at her as he was leaving and she smiled at him in such a cute way, like the pride was so visible. We know she's his biggest fan but seeing it in person???? She's obsessed and so proud of him

Overall it was a crazy night, like randomly getting the autographed card too?? I have to process all of this and won't be able to for a while lmao

I honestly think there’d be no missing her leaving the theatre if you’ve got a mix of stans camping out pre/during/after the show, and the theatre goers coming out for stage door. But if she does go to any future shows I would presume they would do what they did opening night and leave together as it just makes sense logistically hence the daily watch at 10:15PM for both Tom’s Princess Di moment & Z watch rofl

This is completely not the point but I wonder if some of the cast are wearing their own clothes? There’s obviously no uniform and you can see some are wearing leggings, others sweats, some logos are displayed, some are not. Tom’s and Fran’s outfits are clearly planned out but some of the others seem like a school play when parents are told “kids need to wear black/dark clothes for next week’s end of the year play”

I think this cast is deffo enjoying the wardrobe for this production because everything just screams comfort. I think they are actually all costumes worn each show because if you look at all the curtain calls, they’re all identical. I’m sure the cast probably had some input into what their characters might wear (cough cough, 97s) but I would be quite certain for productions like this, everything is so meticulously planned down to like even which socks they wear.

They really do make good use of the white tank tops - e.g., during the duel scene between Tybalt/Mercutio/Benvolio/Romeo (think there’s a picture flying around somewhere where they look like a boyband on the mic stands). The tanks act as a canvas because suddenly the lights turn off and when the stage is lit again, they’re covered in blood (queue the audible gasp from the audience)

Tom definitely goes through two pairs of jeans because no way they stay clean after the amount of blood he gets splattered in. Funnily enough he didn’t change them on the first night so you can see the blood stains at that curtain call.

Those airmax 97s were 100% the culprit in making him slip after they touched wet ground lmaooo I'm going to be on the lookout to see if he changes them for tonight with a better grip trainers.

I agree! The weather is a bit better today, cloudy but no rain forecast so the 97s will likely be there. (I just can’t get over how ugly they are, and the fact he loves them so much he has them in multiple hideous colour combos…)

I’ve always disliked the look of the Air Max 97s which are a personal fave of a one Mr. Tom Holland, but seriously his commitment to these shoes 😭

It still blows my mind that a single post by Tom, with no other info and no other cast member announced caused 60k people, some from outside the UK, to queue up for tickets to a play. For a story they can probably watch in their local community theatre! Even I as a Tom fan was not aware he had that kind of pull.

It must have been (and still is) SO. MUCH. PRESSURE. for everyone in the cast and crew and jamie lloyd to fucking deliver with this play brcause the hype was insane. I was very worried about how critics would react, given Tom's track record with that. But after seeing how much people loved the preview shows... it's like, okay people are having a great time and the cast also seem to be having a great time so critics can say whatever they damn well please as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry just picking this up from yesterday. I honestly was so shocked to get through to the ticketing site after being put 38k in the waiting room for the pre-release and the only tickets left were the pricey ones. My bank account took a hit that day, all I’ll say 😭

I tried again just for the craic when the general release went out and damn near was 55k deep in that queue. Like it’s crazy - having all those people queuing for the pre-release and then the general release off the back of an IG story!

But the previews are now all done. Opening night tomorrow, and tbh I’m same as you, the audience have thoroughly been enjoying this production so far (I know they’re majority Tom fans, but they’ve literally had a standing ovation at the end of each show). You can tell how much the cast are loving it each time they come together for the curtain call. Whatever happens with critics, at the end of the day they’re more than delivering for the paying public 😌

I saw that tweet - no tripping in the matinee show so probably the evening one

I could imagine it’s probably the roof scene as he has to walk down the outdoor metal staircase from the roof back into the theatre and unfortunately today it’s been raining quite a lot. Health and safety hazard! (And the poor camera person who has to do those wet stairs in reverse 😭)
