in light of police across the country cracking down on pro palestine protests with brutal force, it feels like a great time to remind everyone to shut the fuck up around cops. don't make small talk, dont act friendly, don't fucking engage with them!! if you are arrested DO NOT speak without a lawyer present. protest organizers, get into contact with local pro bono lawyers who can be there for your arrested comrades. no matter what, if cops are there, shut the fuck up unless you are actively doing a protest chant. dont tell cops why you were there, dont tell them if you're affiliated with the school you may be protesting at, dont tell them if you came there with anyone, dont tell them anything!!!

I'm not going to give the capitalism doomer answer.
The aesthetic answer is that this was this was trendy for a moment and we're doing different aesthetics now. Nothing tries to look futuristic anymore because futuristic is been there, done that. The future is old. We're remembering the future.
The new future is mundane and simplified for an efficient experience. We don't listen to music with our keyboards and mice anymore unless we're dinosaurs. We carry little rectangles that you don't click. The lack of space means there's no room for the unnecessary. The biggest pioneer of the style was Google's Material Design scheme, which was utilized on their websites and mobile apps.
But, personally I believe we're about to see the death of this aesthetic. I think it is very stale, at this point, and I too am feeling nostalgic for how much fun it was to do things in the future. We might see a retro return of this aesthetic in things. Let's hope.

If the right way is too hard, fuck it. Do it the wrong way.
Folding clothes keeps you from getting the laundry done? Stop folding clothes. Put a basket in your room and throw your unfolded clean stuff into it right out of the dryer, it's fine.
Rinsing dishes off keeps you from loading the dishwasher? Load them dirty and run it twice.
Chopping onions keeps you from making yourself dinner? Buy the freezer bags of chopped onions.
You forget to take your meds and don't want to get out of bed to get them? Start putting them next to the bed.
Can't keep up with the dishes? Get paper plates. Worried about environment impact? Order biodegradable ones online if your local store doesn't have one.
Make the task easier. Put things where you use them instead of where they "go." Eliminate the steps that keep you from finishing the task. Eliminate the task that is stressing you out.
Do it the "wrong" way. It's literally fine.
