i’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume you made this post with good intentions. But we need to be so clear right now that using the Jewish people in your life as props for internet arguments is beyond the pale.
our fear, our peoples trauma, and the rising antisemitism are not yours to exploit in a needless post on a topic you have not done research into. i am not being ‘parasocial’ about noah schnapp supporting israel, i am another jew watching him blatantly support a violent colonizing state and buying fully into the propaganda- which would be one thing, but he is broadcasting misinformation to millions of people. israel is pointing the terrorist finger after 70 years of brutality, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing- thats what im fucking angry about. washing it all away under being ‘parasocial’ is being complicit in the propaganda being spread to validate a genocide of a people, and i find that a disgusting stand to take- especially when you have no stake in this race, and can put it away when you turn off your phone. this conflict is not the guiding factor for the rise of antisemitism, and to even imply that is wildly misinformed and disconnected from what our communities actually go through.
zionism is a fucking plague, and watching all you goyim eat it up, and then utilize our pain to further it? fuck off, do some reading, and DO THE ACTUAL FUCKING IMPORTANT THING IN THIS CONFLICT, AND DONATE TO HUMANITARIAN AID. i will link several resources below, i recommend you check yourself, and do better.
five books to understand the palestine ethnic cleansing
what we know about the hamas attack on israel
hostages: learning from israel
save the children
islamic help
palestine children relief fund
one democratic state initiative
btw if ur mad at Noah schnapp bc of his statement abt the Hama’s either realize that u need to shut the fuck up and actually educate yourself or just fucking block me. it is so obvious that you all didn’t actually even try to understand what he was saying. and the fact that all of u on here care more abt the fact that the (Jewish! With connections to ppl who live Israel like genuinely what did you expect??) celebrity “betrayed” ur parasocial relationship with him than the fact that innocent israeli and Palestinian citizens are dying in this conflict really says a lot
oh and yk while u guys were freaking out abt ur favorite celebrity my jewish friend was texting me abt how she feels unsafe now on our college campus bc a lot of ppl know she’s jewish and anti semitism is spiking already. sort out ur fucking priorities I’m sick of seeing all of u stick ur dicks in this for absolutely no reason and I can’t believe I keep feeling like I have to make these posts

i am not immune to stories in which characters who have endured harsh, empty existences become absolutely transformed by someone’s sincere love for them and learn to live

I know people on tumblr looove stories of underwater cave diving, but I haven't seen anyone talk about nitrogen narcosis aka "raptures of the deep"
basically when you want to get your advanced scuba certification (allowing you to go more than 60 feet deep) you have to undergo a very specific test: your instructor takes you down past the 60+ foot threshold, and she brings a little underwater white board with her.
she writes a very basic math problem on that board. 6 + 15. she shows it to you, and you have to solve it.
if you can solve it, you're good. that is the hardest part of the test.
because here's what happens: there is a subset of people, and we have no real idea why this happens only to them, who lose their minds at depth. they're not dying, they're not running out of oxygen, they just completely lose their sense of identity when deep in the sea.
a woman on a dive my instructor led once vanished during the course of the excursion. they were diving near this dropoff point, beyond which the depth exceeded 60 feet and he'd told them not to go down that way. the instructor made his way over to look for her and found a guy sitting at the edge of the dropoff (an underwater cliff situation) just staring down into the dark. the guy is okay, but he's at the threshold, spacing out, and mentally difficult to reach. they try to communicate, and finally the guy just points down into the dark, knowing he can't go down there, but he saw the woman go.
instructor is deep water certified and he goes down. he shines his light into the dark, down onto the seafloor which is at 90 feet below the surface. he sees the woman, her arms locked to her sides, moving like a fish, swimming furiously in circles in the pitch black.
she is hard to catch but he stops her and checks her remaining oxygen: she is almost out, on account of swimming a marathon for absolutely no reason. he is able to drag her back up, get her to a stable depth to decompress, and bring her to the surface safely.
when their masks are off and he finally asks her what happened, and why was she swimming like that, she says she fully, 100% believed she was a mermaid, had always been a mermaid, and something was hunting her in the dark 👍

my toxic xennial trait is that i believe something should either be software (in which case after i download it i shouldn't need to be connected to use it) or a web page (which shouldn't require me to download anything to use it, however badly, in a browser). fuck your mandatory single function constant connection apps
