Based on Mary Shelley’s post apocalyptic novel The Last Man. It’s very interesting, before I’ve read it I’ve seen it described as Mary’s expression of loneliness after most of her friends and family passed away, but interestingly, up until the last chapter the novel is filled with the feeling of community and affection. I liked it very much.

Unironically love the hobbit trilogy but wish he got more than four seconds of screen time in nine hours… Fíli for the win

"I do not presume to enter into competition with our greatest contemporary Poets. Yet I am unwilling to tread in the footsteps of any who have preceded me. I have sought to avoid the imitation of any style of language or versification peculiar to the original minds of which it is the character, designing that even if what I have produced be worthless, it should still be properly my own."
— Percy Bysshe Shelley, excerpt from the author's preface to The Revolt of Islam (1818)

more people should be ungodly obsessed with john mitchell from being human. he's a beautiful emo irish vampire with the worst fashion sense in the world. he's killed so many people but he feels so so so bad about it. he is so absolutely cringefail he gets roasted by children on the street and actually gets annoyed. he fought in WWI. he was in casablanca but you can't see him because he doesn't show up on film. he is in recovery for addiction (blood) and keeps relapsing (murder). he loves the real hustle and he's LITERALLY doing the washing up.

I still maintain the real hustle scene in being human is the height of comedy

Crimson Peak (2015), costumes designed by Kate Hawley
Poor Things (2023), costumes designed by Holly Waddington
"The house really dictated how to approach the costumes, from a sculptural point of view, to give them extra depth, to give them a painterly quality. I didn’t want to get myself caught up in detail that didn’t feel like it meant anything, like generic lace or decoration. So all the details we made and they all came from the symbolism of the characters or the house itself. The leaves on Lucille’s dress were constructed by hand, with a single piece of cording. And for Edith, the motifs of the flowers, she blooms. It was about trying to create an atmosphere. [...] [Edith's] like a chrysalis at that point. She’s very fragile, so the butterfly is dying and becoming this little husk. [...] When Guillermo said to me, “It’s about a house that breathes,” that’s why we chose the lightest fabric, just a little thing to try and help the storytelling with the idea of the house."
"[As Edith falls in love with Thomas Sharpe,] the silhouette of the sleeves becomes fuller, and the flowers start growing on her dress. You have the world of the moon, and black, and Lucille being the moth, and Edith being the butterfly.” - Kate Hawley
"I wanted texture to be everywhere in the costumes… for everything to feel like it was living and breathing – from an animal or a sea creature from a shell. It all has a kind of organic quality to it. There are curvy, linear shapes, and no sharp lines. Bella’s costumes are very airy. Those sleeves are like huge lungs full of air, and she’s just been reanimated so that felt like a good thing to include. The huge sleeves also affect her body shape, which felt like a good idea, because she is more creature-like when she wears these.” - Holly Waddington

I really started watching Being Human expecting a flatshare comedy with occasional angst sprinkled in and now after the s3 finale I don’t know how to feel anything ever again
