here regarding the matter of Tolkien in KOTLC-verse having been inspired by an elf:

certainly there's compelling evidence that the inspirational elf in question was fintan, and the evidence has mostly been discussed already; in Tolkien's canon there are elves with fin-names, blonde elves with fiery personalities AND fin-names, elves with fiery personalities in general, a plethora of things similar to fintan's inventions (crystalline lamps that never burn out come to mind)...

but i feel that it's necessary to consider the fact that most of the incredibly beautiful elves described by Tolkien have dark hair, grey eyes, and often the power of incredible violence at their fingertips (feanor, fingolfin, luthien...).

councillor bronte very notably has dark hair, blue-grey eyes (the grey here more or less unheard among elves, which might make him even more incredibly beautiful by their stadards), and the power of incredible violence at his fingertips. his hair also looks really nice when it's a little longer.

what i'm trying to say here is: perhaps fintan and bronte both...?

(side note: i feel like councillor noland should be allowed to have a song duel with sauron. he's a vociferator so he might even win. vociferator luthien...)
