It was average to see an uneven ratio working and the other busting theirass off trying to do the best they could. In Shikamaru's eyes, he couldn't really give a damn what category anyone situated him in. The lazy genius was an insult as well as something people admired him for. Kinda messed up if someone thought about it.
This girl really seemed to be over working herself, continuously flipping through the papers, going to the backside – If it wasn't humorous to begin with, it was starting to become troublesome to watch. Trying to process her fast and broken words, the spiky haired male furrowed his brows concentrating on his own agenda. So, she seemed a little too worked over. Whatever, after school wouldn't be a problem.
Shikamaru continuously stared at a space on the desk, thinking about what he was going to do within the next few hours. “I usually help my dad with whatever he needs done at the base.. but today I could probably skip. I'll just have to let him know.” he said with the usual lazy tone. It wasn't like his dad actually needed him there now. Getting up from him seat, the lazy genius contemplated what to do next. He tossed his bag over his shoulder before looking down at the girl. “So uh --” he was cut off but her odd stare.
“Are you okay?” questionably, he didn't really know how to approach that kind of reaction.

Now Tenten wasn’t one who usually felt superior to others. Mostly, she ended up feeling inferior to other people, but knowing that they actually had a good idea for their project made her feel a lot better. It just happened to suit her just fine. Now that she thought about it, working with the Nara boy wouldn’t be as bad as she thought it might be. He seemed to know what he was doing as well as she could. Tenten began to slowly go through her schedule, wondering when exactly would be the best time for her. “Um, well, I could do today after class if you were free? Or really any time. All I have to do is go to practice and tell my boss I’ll be late to work. She doesn’t mind.” It was a little unsettling to be the one coming up with the plan off the field. Now, she was a nervous mess and was looking down at her paper, where small spirals began appearing in her absentmindedness. Just as she finished speaking, the bell rang to signal the end of class. “So, um… like I said. It’s up to you. I mean, school is over…” Her eyes were on Shikamaru as her teeth snagged on her bottom lip. There was never a time where the bun haired girl was nervous, but right now she couldn’t get them to die down inside of her right now. She didn’t know the reasoning behind this sudden feeling, but she didn’t like it one bit.

“If I know one thing – It's never to get on a woman's bad side. One small comment taken the wrong way, and you're pretty much screwed for life,” he explained with a shrug, both hands in his pockets. It was common sense not to do so at least. His mom was an evil woman, that's for sure. And to those who didn't know, wouldn't even want to figure it out. Naruto seemed to have a pretty good idea though, unless he spoke without much though. That happened sometimes.
He smiled inattentively, closing his eyes as he continued forward. Maybe talking about what has to be done won't make things any better than they are. It'd be closely evaluated to complaining, and Shikamaru hated that. So he wouldn't let himself do it. He'd just, get things done. “Yeah. My dad seems to really think I can do anything now,” he muttered with a slight distaste. That would be the worst thing, letting his dad down. Everything just seemed so expected of him lately, he sometimes forgot he needed to breathe. Thankfully he had friends like Naruto who believed in everyone.
Listening intently to the blonde, the lazy genius lifted his chin to view the clouds. He liked how Naruto didn't take everything too seriously, how his friend seemed to find humor in things ; Shikamaru would kill to have that kind of lifestyle for a day. As laid back as he appeared to be, he still lived up to high expectations. “Sounds like a chill day to me,” he smiled through words. A little off guard, he cleared his throat. “Yeah, it's just troublesome. That's all.”
Common Problems
The mention of the other blonde made Naruto briefly imagine the scene; he personally wasn’t that close with her— only having met her a few times but had enough to understand what kind of person she was (and was rather fond of her, actually!), but her bond with Shikamaru was another story. Imagining her blowing fuse at the lazier side was rather entertaining, but at the same time he slightly pitied the other, “Well, aren’t you glad I’m not her then~” There was a tease in his voice, because he didn’t really want to insult Ino— but it was kind of true.
Naruto looked over at his friend, watching his expression as he would complain about his duty. He himself didn’t really understand why Shikamaru had so much on his plate— “Aah, aah. Just hearing about how much ya got to do makes me stressed- don’t, don’t don’t!” The blonde frowned and shook his head, “Sounds rough, man. Wouldn’t want to let down your old man though, right?” He slapped the other lightly in the arm, “Even if it’s tough I know you can do it.”
There was a brief moment of comfortable silence before Shikamaru continued to speak; Naruto pondered at his question and hummed out loud in thought; “Dunno. Maybe do that report that’s due tomorrow when I get home— but you never know. Buuuuut, I’m not really looking forward to that, maybe I’ll hang ‘round at the park and take a snooze or something— it’s a pretty flat day if ya ask me.” Looking back at the ponytailed man, Naruto tilted his head and frowned; “Ya sure work’s not the only thing on your mind though?”

Another push and shove, but without that their friendship wouldn't really be a good one. He decided not to let his weight drop this time, not feeling in the mood to hear the other end from her. He laughed as he moved forward, remembering all the times she used to push him around – The fact she still did.
His dad often did stop by except for this one time where his agenda couldn't exactly fit into it. Shrugging, he scratched the back of his head keeping the other hand in his pocket. “Well I'm not in love,” he stated pointedly with a slight smirk. He never felt the need to buy flowers for someone unless he actually felt something special for them. Shikamaru glanced at Ino with hesitation. “Never said you were lying, Ino. “ it was a mock tone, but innocent nonetheless.
Entering the doorway he noted that her dad was doing something behind the shop, just like every other day he perceived growing up since their dad's were best friends. When she asked what kind of flowers, he was silent going into a troublesome recognition. Shit. What flowers did he always get? “Roses.” he replied in a guessing tone, like this was a game – it really wasn't. No one knew the wrath of Yoshino.

If you own something that’s great, whatever makes a person happy - he believes that’s all that matters.39)Q:What recharges them when they’re feeling drained? A: An unpopular choice of his, Shikamaru finds a strange kind of replenishment in smoking cigarettes. 46)Q:Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds?A: Both. Here’s a list of troublesome "headcanons"
3.)Q: Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?A: Not by choice since he has a strong trait of being lazy. When he's assisting his dad at work however -- he's given a small training exercise every time adding onto the list of troublesome things he has to do.4.)Q: What would they do if they needed to make dinner but the kitchen was busy?A: Leave to get takeout. Or Shikamaru would eventually find a way to use the kitchen -- or something in the kitchen that could be of use.5.)Q: Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)A: He might be lazy, but cleanliness is one thing important to to him. Every aspect of his home is untouched by dust by the wrath of Yoshino family's cleanliness. 6.)Q: Eating habits and sample daily menuA: Food isn't something he's picky with. His mom taught him to eat everything provided to him, because wasting food is the equivalent to killing a person. "apparently." 20.)Q: Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?A:Believe it or not everyone used to think his intelligence was an illness. Joking-wise, being lazy and smart at the same time is iconic for Shikamaru. Rarely ever getting sick because of the lemons and other ingredients his mom would concoct into herbal teas, he was lucky. 21.)Q: Turn-ons? Turn-offs?A: He likes girls who don't constantly need someone, pretty eyes, tattoos and piercings(not over the top), good fitness, charasmatic. Turn off's-Too much makeup, girls who pine about changing everything about themselves, over thinkers, obnoxiousness,22.)Q: Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?A: He'd start drawing random clouds, it's one of the things he probably puts most of his attention to throughout the day.23.)Q: How organized are they? How does this organization/disorganization manifest in their everyday life?A: Since his dad's affiliated in the military force, it's effected the way Shikamaru views organization. It's equally beneficial, and troublesome at the same time. 24.)Q: Is there one subject of study that they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?A: Even though it seems like he might not care for  anything, Shikamaru's knowledge is the one thing he's sensitive towards when it comes to completing an agenda. According to his IQ of 300, he's excelled with ease, landing himself in senior and AP classes, but only takes them on when he wants a challenge. 27.)Q: What is their biggest regret?A: He constantly finds himself regretting the way he pushes his friends away prior to belief he has a sense of security by doing so.29.)Q:Reaction to sudden extrapersonal disaster (eg The house is on fire! What do they do?)A: He thinks logically and critically, not fast and hastily. In a situation, he'd look for the right way no matter how long it takes.30.)Q: Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)A: Kept in, under the impression it'll go away sooner or later.33.)Q: Concept of home and family?A: Home is wherever the heart feels comfortable. He believes family comes first always, no matter how troublesome they could be. Taking family for granted is the worst thing anyone could do.35.)Q: What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time?A: Staring at the clouds. It's a bittersweet feeling. Passing the time, but also a waste.36.)Q: What makes them feel guilty?A: When he can't figure out how to help his friends. Feeling useless to people he cares about -- And also offending or hurting people's feelings unintentionally. 37.)Q: Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making?A: Analytical. Sometimes his emotions get the better of him, but he tries not to let that happen no matter how many times it's come back to him with annoyance.47.)Q:  If they were to fall in love, who (or what) is their ideal?A: Shikamaru's ideal version of love will always be a mystery, seeing as he's never been open about his opinions. Although he often gives advice when Ino asks, he's really only basing it off of the wise words of his mother. When Shikamaru does intend on looking for it, he wants to find someone who isn't afraid to be themselves, and a girl who isn't afraid to put him back in his place when he's falling off track.48.)Q: How do they express love?A: Through complicated words and vague actions. Normally anyone who's around Shikamaru a lot tend to take note on this, but to strangers who don't know him -- may often be confused.

Shikamaru let his eyes wander around the room to the other students. Half of them had zero motivation while the rest seemed to be doing their own thing. Scratching behind his ear, he subconsciously agreed they were one step ahead – no more than three. Growing up Shikamaru was taught to have a lot of confidence, but never to be cocky about it.
---Most of the time he knew how to handle these situations, and to be clear he wasn't actually better when it came to getting along with others. A strong suit of his only relied on how smart he was, and anything that related to brain work and mind games. Evidently, gave enough reasoning as to why the male was so god damn perceptive with things; sometimes more than he expected himself to be.
Other than Thursday was one way to remember this girl, he thought as he scanned through his own schedule. Shikamaru knew his whole week was bent, but even then he had to cross off some things, even add this project in to make it work. Yet another, troublesome thing. The lazy eyed male yawned as he got up to stretch out his back, finally relieved the class was almost over. “Well since I'm kinda tight with a schedule, you name any day besides Thursday and I'll fit that somewhere to make it work.” he suggested before taking his seat. Not everyone knew of his tactics, which consisted of a balance to his laziness, and will to do anything he didn't need to.
|| Elements of the sky ||
If there was one thing other than sports that Tenten was serious about, it was her grades. If she let them slip even a little bit, she’d find herself off the sports teams that kept her going. So honestly, failing anything clearly wasn’t an option for the bunned girl. She just hoped that her classmate would take it as seriously as she did. Otherwise, she’d be in a world of hurt right about now. Tenten nodded as she listened to the boy talk. It was odd to think she had rarely heard his voice before today and now she felt as if she could pick out the bored tone just about anywhere. He might not have sounded bored to everyone, but to her, she could pull out the sheer boredom from his voice. “Personally, we haven’t even start but judging by everyone else in this room, it’s safe to assume that no one is going to put in nearly as much work as we already seemed to be,” Tenten scoffed at just the thought. They were twenty minutes, maybe, into the project and other people were just gossiping or even sleeping. It was clear to the girl that they didn’t care about their grades at all. The older girl was already going through her week’s schedule. Honestly, after practice she could do really any day that they tried to get her to. Even if she wasn’t at home, they could meet at the antique shop since no one ever really came inside. “Well, other than Thursday, when I have an archery tournament, I’m pretty much free any day after school.” She nodded her head, liking the idea of starting early. That way they didn’t have to rush.

hc 01: Birthdays: 22nd - 23rd :
Shikamaru and Ino normally shared birthdays when they were younger so their parents would have their birthdays either on the weekend before or on the Wednesday. They would go to each others houses and of course invite Chouji. As far as best friends go, neither are openly loud about how close they are because everyone already seems to know.

A sly laughter escaped from the lazy student after hearing what the blonde had to say. Naruto was never able to convince him on exactly how mad he could pull off – Unless he really meant it, which Shikamaru was perceptive on. “Yeah, that's exactly how Ino would respond to me being late,” his voice was lazy yet content. Which brought him back to thinking about the other day.
It was late today, yet Shikamaru couldn't prove on what had kept him so long – Maybe track of time? “Extra work today, not to mention I have to meet up with my dad about some service thing for his job.” he let out with a sigh, not really knowing much about his dad's confidentiality. “Behind closed doors kind of thing. A bunch of military talk if you asked me. “ he continued as he pushed both hands in his pockets. Whether or not he liked the idea of it, it wasn't optional. He felt directionless at times, but that was something he liked to assume everyone felt once in their lives, and he left that as the definite answer.“So whattya' got planned for today then?” he questioned, leaving behind all talk of what was going to be continued the moment he got home.
Common Problems
Naruto was leaning against one of the pillars of the gate in front of school; falling drowsy as he looked lazily up at the sky. The familiar voice had startled him out of his daze; a frown etched upon his features. “Don’t ‘Yo’ me you jerk, be glad I’m not some short fused girl who would’ve most definitely given you the cold shoulder!”
He tried to poise an angry demeanour; but failed miserably as he laughed out loud, breaking his composure and nudged the other with his elbow. “What were you doing ‘nyways? I get you got lots to do— but ain’t ya kind of, ya know, really late today?” The blonde tilted his head, scratching his neck in thought. It wasn’t necessarily that late, dusk was to hit in around in hour and a half; but considering the fact that Naruto had been here since the last bell did prove his point.
With a loud yawn; Naruto briefly stretched his tense body and shook his fatigue away. “Let’s go,” and with that, Naruto fell into a step to leave before his friend.

Shikamaru didn't think too much about Ino's moodswings. After becoming known to how famous they had been since he'd known her, The dark haired male had gotten used to not taking them so seriously. It seemed like they were walking in silence for some time, but it was another one of those things he saw as normal. Anything that bothered Ino would soon be something Shikamaru would find out about sooner or later; If not, then it probably wasn't much of a big deal in the first place.
With all of the simplicity life could have, anything Shikamaru dealt with recently proved it to be bullshit. But he'd make exceptions for Ino, because they were best friends. It usually worked that way.
A shrug was given as he continued to walk alongside the girl, perceptive on her odd body movement. He wasn't going to tell her that crossing her arms lived along the lines of displeasure, or her quick comments meant she was anxious – Because somewhere between that nonexistent conversation she'd end up yelling at him for being nosy. So as of now, he agreed to everything she said; All he agreed with anyways. “I guess so. I mean, the worst part of bad days usually ends up with people who lie about things.” Shikamaru said lazily as he kept both hands in his pockets. Not that he was throwing assumptions at her, which he probably shouldn't have said.
“I get it though, ninety nine percent of anyone's stress comes from school. Right.. I almost forgot to ask you – “ he lifted his chin to glance up at the sky for the fifth time.
“My dad didn't have time to stop by, so he wanted me to pick up some flowers at the shop. Y'know, for my mom. “ his gaze fixated on the blue eyed girls before thinking about how his parents had always been doing little things for each other. Half the time it really amazed him, how in love they still were. It's like the first time, how his dad always explained it.

  How your character smells
Shikamaru smells like various teas, only because his mom's always making some whether it's late at night, early in the morning, or the afternoon when he gets home. It's not something to complain about, however he prays the heavy tea smell might cover the smell of cigarettes.
Describe makeup & body modifications
He has a few accidental burns from flicking his cigarette in the wrong direction, probably from not paying attention. His hands are rough from daily work, and he's similar to how his dad looks -- except he doesn't have the iconic battle scar that goes from his dads forehead to below his eye.
Height & Weight
He's 5'7 and weighs 148 lbs
What they always have on their person
When it gets cold outside Shikamaru carries a black hoodie around with him, along with an umbrella kept in the small storage space he has at the school. He doesn't really care for the comments he gets, but he can't leave the house without a pack of cigarette's (He says he isn't addicted but others beg to differ) His cellphone has the default screensaver of clouds, and continues with the normal time distance that escalates to the setting sun, then eventually night.

He could tell how dedicated Tenten was when it came to anything, noting she was the same when it came to giving one hundred percent. Naturally he'd assume a percentage of the class just half-assed assignments just to get it over with, but this time he wasn't entirely sure.
Shikamaru nodded at her speculation, because he'd rather not hear something recycled either. It held the same annoyance as someone who never tried and had potential; he'd probably be able to pick out a select few in that category too – Just because he knew a good amount of everyone's grades. “As long as it keeps the whole thing a little more interesting that anyone finds it, it's good to go.” he later added, scanning the list of ideas on the paper.
Thinking about his own schedule, he figured it'd be easier to hear her free days first just so he could make time for it. The kind of schedule he had, couldn't amount to anything that didn't change. “I could probably work some time off of your free days. The sooner we start this, the faster we won't have to worry about the deadline.” Shikamaru said as he glanced at all the students doing nothing. About ten percent had started.
|| Elements of the sky ||
Tenten was trying to remember any information on constellations she could think of. Right now, she was collecting data that were hidden in her mind about Andromeda and jotting it down. Not to mention, all the information the Nara boy was giving her about the others. There were certain things they’d have to research as well as infer about certain parts of the project, but needless to say, Tenten was confident in their partnership already. Tapping her chin with the pen in her hand, Tenten looked over at the pineapple headed boy while thinking. “Hm, whichever you would prefer. I just don’t want to listen to something I already know. I want to learn different information.” If they all did the same constellations for their projects, not only would they all be bored, but the teacher would frown upon it. The only result that would give is losing their choosing freedom. “I kind of like the idea of doing Altair, however. Whichever you would prefer is fine with me,” she just wanted to feel included, since the boy clearly knew what he was talking about. Surprisingly, the more they discussed this, the more Tenten was glad he was her partner. Now that she thought about it, the older girl remembered hearing that he was a genius. The idea frightened her, yet intrigued her at the same time. Part of her wanted to get to know the person behind the title he was given. “So, when should we start?” She asked him, going through her schedule in her head.

He shrugged it off, looking back up to the sky as if it were the sign he'd rather not talk about it. “It's whatever, I don't really care for it actually.” his reply was short and meaningless, exactly what he felt the subject of conversation was. When it came to Ino, Shikamaru was observant. Maybe the reason being he knew her? All he knew now was, everytime she flipped her hair it actually meant she was angry at or with something, or someone.Raising a brow at her sudden change of tone, he began to feel wary she was covering something up. Come to think of it... shouldn't he be back at the school now? But he also knew giving that kind of excuse to her would just give her a second conscious as to why he was a liar even when he was telling the truth. Geez... since when did planning out something become so troublesome? “Yeah, I'll help you.” he said shortly, returning his gaze to the sky.
Partially his days were spent watching the clouds go by to pass the time, at night it was star gazing. Most would call him lazy, others would say he was just an admirer of life. Shikamaru referred to himself as a lazy bastard at times, equally intelligent.
English? Moving forward – asking about his day. He couldn't exactly tell her the truth because the truth was boring, in those exact words. “Uh, I don't know. Just like every other day I guess,” which was the partial truth. The sudden outbursts of various conversation was starting to make him think, but he wouldn't say anything just yet. For now, he'd help her study. He brushed off her insecure comment, not overthinking it whatsoever. After all, he despised over thinkers. Didn't wanna be one.
