This proves to me Planet of the Bass is the perfect late 90s Eurodance parody since, after being nightcore’d, this amv would not look even a little out of place as an early youtube amv.
TFW you're on Youtube on 2007 looking up your favorite cartoons.
Speaking of, Youtube won't let me upload this to the platform because of its stupid ass copyright system so you guys get to enjoy it from here.
Planet Of The Bass - DJ Crazy Times is by Kylegordonisgreat on TikTok and the nightcore version is by the channel Kaia on Youtube.
The animes clips used in here are drawn from, in no particular: Sailor Moon, Lucky Star, Princess Tutu, Magic Knight Rayearth, Kaleido Star, Mirmo Zibang!, Sgt. Frog, Ashita no Nadja, Cardcaptor Sakura, Powerpuff Girls Z, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Tokyo Mew Mew, Hamtaro, Sugar Sugar Rune, Chibi Vampire, and Mermaid Melody.
(reuploaded bc Tumblr won't allow the original to show on the tags)

I think my worst character trait is that on this website (or really any website) if I see a post go longer than a paragraph I skip it. Oh how I wish I was a patient motherfucker.

Recently learned my great-grandfather was involved in the Amelia Earhart investigation and he just apparently never felt the need to inform anybody else in the family while he was alive. I saw an excerpt in a 1987 book about the investigation and it just casually drops my great grandfather’s name (and I know 100% that it is my relative they are talking about due to the job description the book listed) and my parents had no clue. Just wild new lore drops.

General 3 am Ramblings About the Showtime Series “Dexter”
Ok so I never watched this show as it was airing. I know my dad was and due to cultural osmosis I knew some things about it going in: 1. It was about a serial killer who went after other serial killers.
2. Season 4 is considered the best.
3. The “Surprise Motherfucker” meme is from this show.
4. People don’t like the finale to either Dexter nor it’s 2021 revival Dexter: New Blood.
Earlier this year I felt a compulsion to start the show and see for myself what all the fuss was about. I am currently on the last episode of Season 5 and I have Some Thoughts™ and felt like getting them out now. I’ll go into detail under the cut.
Season 1: From the get go I enjoyed this show. The cast was good and the premise was interesting. While I knew Dexter was a serial killer I didn’t know he worked as a forensics expert for the Miami police. Which immediately throws in a neat twist to the formula. I enjoyed the season long mystery about the Ice Truck Killer and the tension between Dexter and Sergeant Doakes. Satisfying season with a good story and good characters.
Season 2: I don’t know if I like it as much or more than season 1. The stakes have been raised so high and the tension was palpable. I honestly don’t have anything interesting to say about it other than it was a great continuation and I enjoyed it.
Season 3: The introduction of the potential new ally and Dexter grappling with breaking his moral code was really good stuff. Nice character development all around. I would say I don’t like this season as much as 1 or 2 but it is still more of a show I like so I can’t complain.
Season 4: I can see why this is the fan favorite season. A very memorable villain and it just feels like the show has entered its stride. Excellent character development for Dexter especially considering his complicated relationship that develops with the Trinity Killer. I will say that this was the first time with show that I personally felt uneasy watching death scenes. I am already squeamish but for some reason prior to this season the macabre aspects didn’t get to me.
Season 5: This is where my thoughts get complicated. I had heard that starting with season 5 there is a decrease in quality. And for a solid two-thirds of the season I felt that people were maybe judging it too harshly. But then halfway through episode 11 of the 12 episode season it hit me. An entire storyline had been entirely dropped. A new character had been introduced throughout several episodes and then had been added to the homicide team. And then they just didn’t show up again for the rest of the season. Another character’s motives and personality completely shifts with very little explanation. I still find myself intrigued with the main murder case. But I can’t really ignore all the little cracks every where else in the season. I have yet to finish episode 12 so maybe it sticks the landing and ties everything together. So far this is probably my least favorite season but I still like the format of the show and most of the cast.
I may do a second post once I finish the series but this is what I got so far.

Planning way too far ahead but assuming there’s enough material to work with in the Mighty Nein series I gotta do a Lucien edit to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykIFaxzBmoU
I can’t believe I made an amv in the year of our lord 2023 but here we are in time for season 2! I made a Percy De Rolo edit to the song “Whitestone Child” by Arcane Anthems. Which is a parody of “Feel Good Drag” by Anberlin. Please support Arcane Anthems on their Patreon if you can. This song is free but there’s tons of good stuff on there. Link below the cut.

Which Campaign 2 episodes do you consider skippable? I started seriously watching during Campaign 3 so I can't possibly be upset at your answer.
Campaign 3 seems to be one big lore drop after another, but in retrospect that probably won't be true.
There's like a hundred and something episodes so I don't know all the skippable ones off the top of my head but from what I remember a lot of episodes post episode 30 but before 45-46ish are decently skippable. Obviously it depends on the episode but typically if an episode involves the Nein exploring a town or investigating a lead I skip through it or skip the episode entirely. Mostly just because the gang get side-tracked and forget.

Not related to your list, but you mentioned asking for skipable moments in C2 and that having watched the whole thing, you feel there are some. CR is not a media friendly to ADHD but I want to actually watch C2 before the show. Would you be able to list out a few things easily skipable if it's not too much trouble?
I don't have a C2 list on me and it has been a few months since I finished it so I don't know all the skippable stuff off the top of my head unfortunately sorry. But the tip I would give is the first 30 or so episodes are very integral to the story and I'd recommend at the very least seeing those. Also I would say in general there are a lot of episodes where the gang explore new towns or investigate leads and these are typically moments I skipped on my watch through. Hopefully that helps some!

My General Fears About the Mighty Nein Animated Series
Amazon Prime announced that an animated adaptation of Critical Role’s second campaign: The Mighty Nein is being made. Awesome! Here’s why I am incredibly nervous in an easy to understand format: A List (of only a couple points but lists are cool)! 1: This is the one that matters the least but I fear that the critical (pun not intended) response won’t be as strong as the reception for the Legend of Vox Machina. Not because of any fault of the show itself but rather I’m nervous that critics will watch the show and feel like it is too similar to VM. This is just a thing that happens when media properties start to expand and Critters might disagree but ultimately it is a concern that critical word of mouth might negatively impact the show. But as I said at the beginning this is the one I’m least nervous about because I think as long as the show is good and faithful to the campaign fans will be happy. Which brings us to...
2. I fear that deviations from the campaign will upset fans of the original streams. While campaign 1 started this whole revolution I think it is fair to say campaign 2 is what ignited the worldwide phenomenon that is Critical Role. And as such in my experience Campaign 2 fans are like, EXTRA defensive of it. When I was first getting in to CR watching C1 I noticed there were episodes in which there was a lot of downtime. I asked around to see if there were guides on skippable episodes or guides to let me know where big important moments happened. People were super helpful and understanding and gave me a guide. When I got into watching C2 and asked that same question. The response I got was “there aren’t any skippable episodes, and it is integral that you don’t skip around in the videos because you might miss something. This campaign isn’t like C1. Every detail is important”. As someone who has finished C2 I can say that this is not true lol. C2 is similar to C1 in that some episodes are totally skippable and not every detail is super important. That being said I’ve seen that sentiment by enough fans of C2 that I am nervous that the show streamlining and shuffling around events may not go over as well with the fans as the changes that came with LOVM.
3. This is basically just point #2.5 but I’m nervous that the series won’t live up to how things played out in the heads of fans. There are some incredible animatics on youtube about major and minor moments from C2 that are so well done that I’m nervous they won’t hit the same in the show. Which is a dumb concern but it is also a concern I had with LOVM. Which thankfully so far hasn’t been the case with me as I think the team have been nailing the emotional beats from C1. Honestly they should be fine and I should have faith in the team.
Anyway this is probably the first time a franchise I’ve loved so much has been adapted into a tv show and this is probably what it feels like for book readers when a big budget movie is made about a series they love. I want it to be really good but am super nervous that it either won’t live up to the expectations or other fans will be bummed. Thanks for humoring this longwinded post Tumblr Dot Com.
