twitter etiquette for new users

replying is how you make friends! reply to anything you want and be friendly. don’t make rude jokes if you’re not friends already though!

quote retweeting is a no-no. when you “retweet with a comment” it’s not liked by content creators because it makes a new tweet out of their tweet and they don’t get the likes and retweets they would get if you’d just retweeted it straight up. if you want to comment on a retweet, reply to it or post a new tweet starting with “LRT” which stands for “last retweet” (it’s fine to quote retweet dumb memes and so on.)

you can make your tweets private. this means no one but your followers will be able to see what you post and no one will be able to retweet your content.  you can switch back and forth between private and public at will. some people make a separate private account to tweet personal stuff and let mutuals follow it only. it’s a good way to keep things separate.

what is privatter? privatter is a third party web app that content creators can allow to be attached to their twitter. it lets them tweet content that they can make exclusive to logged in users, followers, mutuals, or a specific list of users. as long as you are logged in to twitter and fall into the intended category, you’ll be able to see it. 

you can mute people you follow. (and those you don’t, ofc.) you can also mute words and phrases and entire conversations. if you mute someone you follow and they reply to you, that reply will still show up in your notifications. it’s a good way to keep the peace!

you can limit notifications to people who follow you or to mutuals. (notifications from people you follow will still show up regardless of which option you’ve selected.)

miscellaneous tips and warnings: if you accidentally unfollow and refollow someone, it won’t show up in their notifications as long as it’s within a couple minutes. no more accidental stuff. everyone can see who everyone follows so watch out. people will know if you unfollow. if you want to report someone and want them gone forever, report a tweet where they used a curse word. screenshotting tweets for harassment is a no-no and can get you banned. don’t be lame. don’t be a dick. vaguing others is generally really bad form and so is complaining about content within a fandom you’re in. use the mute tools at your disposal and don’t be a spoiler. you won’t come back from a rep like that and everyone sees everything.

HP AU Soulmates Snarry

Hey, my dear snarry shippers on tumblr, I just wanted to know if there’s any one who wants to read something that I wrote about the origin of the soulmates for the HP universe. I just want an opinion to know if this is worth to keep going or not. Thanks!

The world is vast. The universe is infinite. Every life that is born from Earth will meet its end. However, between infinite universes and big planets, there are the souls. Their existence defies logic. A soul is eternal, it's everlasting, yet, it can be maimed. It can be hurt, split in half, banished forever... It exists in a different plane of existence even if it keeps returning to the known universe so it could give life to Life's creation.

It was Merlin.

The Merlin, who created the “soulmate timer”. He was wise beyond what simple minds could comprehend and it was him, who put together the ancient knowledge about souls, the great knowledge about magic and the laws of the universe to serve a unique purpose to tell its bearer the exact moment they will meet the other half of their soul.

This is not to say that Magic's children wander on earth with only half of a soul in comparison to the children of Earth, whose souls attached to their bodies have no match. No, far from it. The truth, or what we know as the truth is much more wonderful. It's believed that in the very begin of the universe, Magic created only two souls and sent them to Earth.

They shone bright and did so many wonderful things on earth that the children of Earth were attracted to them. They loved and adored them for their brightness as they were equally loved the children of Earth. Out of kindness and love, the two special souls shared their brightness to a hundred of souls of Earth so they could partake the Magic’s gift.

Magic, however, nerve having expected it, did not design their existence and their gift to be shared with others. It was then, that after her two children shared their brightness to others they ended up killing themselves in the process.

It was a gloomy day when the children of Magic died.

Life itself, mourned them.

Guilty by death of the two wonderful souls, the souls who had received the Magic's gift, promised to never forget their existence and so they went to live together far from the others so they could celebrate their gift together and not make the other children of Earth envy. In community, they grew old, they had children and lived wonderful years until they would meet Death.

Their children and then their grandchild and so on, have not only received the Magic's gift, but they had inherited the intrinsic love for the souls that shared the gift. For the first generations, it was understood only as a sense of kinship. But as new generations came, an inexplicable connection started to appear on different pairs of souls, whose family had inherited their gift from different souls of the original two.

The elders couldn't come with a concrete explanation of why it happened. No one could explain why. But it started to happen as if it was a law of the universe. By the next generation, this fascinating, yet strange connection between two different people have being named: they were soulmates.

Thousand years later, Merlin using his great knowledge gifted the children of Magic with a strong charm that could calculate the exact amount of days that it would come until a soul would met with its missing mate and show the numbers of days on top of their chests.

Severus Snape couldn’t call it a “gift”, it has always been a curse.

Not always of course, he still had hope on his teenage years. However, on that awful day of October 31 of 1981, his chest burned with an ancient magic and when he tore his clothes of himself to look at his soulmate timer, it suddenly zeroed in front of his eyes before disappearing from his chest, leaving no trace behind.

On that day, he didn't know what had hurt more, knowing that you best friend and sisters by heart was dead or knowing that he would never get the chance to know his soulmate. He could only cry harder, alone and cold in the basement of Spinner’s End, as he mourned.
