I’ve seen a lot of posts about how annoying it is when allistic people talk about being related to or knowing an autistic person and I would just like to add!!

There’s a HUGE difference between “I know an autistic person so I understand you completely now, and also I’m a saint for caring for autistic people.” To make you believe they’re a good person,

And “I’m close to someone who is also autistic, and even though I don’t know your struggles I have a good understanding of things such as stimming, sensory overload, etc.” to let you know you don’t have to feel uncomfortable being open about those things with or around them.

I know I post a lot of positivity and I stand by that but life with autism isn’t always super easy and its totally okay to struggle with it. Its okay not to always feel thrilled about it; feeling like that doesn’t make you a bad person. Just remember that you are fantastic for who you are. Accepting yourself or your diagnosis might be a process and that’s absolutely fine. Autism acceptance month isn’t just about others accepting us, for a lot of people its about working toward self acceptance too!

#this extends to lots of other things #you dont have to be 100% on board and happy w every piece of being autistic #finding the positives is important and self acceptance is important #esp where lack therof causes self esteem issues or hurts in other ways #but that doesnt mean you cant be frustrated by parts of it #it is a disability and while in many cases the frustration is in a world that doesnt acomidate us #sometimes it goes beyond that #i have dyspraxia as part of being autistic and while i find joking about it fun #it is still frustrating as hell #i dont hate being autistic #i love being autistic #but im also allowed to be frustrated by it at times #that doesnt negate the things i love about it or the work ive done on accepting myself

It’s here !! The guide for two-legged people who don’t know how to draw wheelchairs !!! 7 pages of infodump ! Disclaimer : I don’t know everything, I have one (1) experience of wheelchair user who used both bad and good chairs, and I share what I learned.

4) Several arrows point an active wheelchair (the KSL by Küshall) : “usually no armrest” “a low backrest allow more movement” “light, design, ferning expersive” “special cushion to avoind injuries” “knee angle is usually 90°” “one single piece of frame, sometimes entirely welded” “weight : from 4 to 10kg” “often rigid” “center of the wheel is the center of gravity” “higher quality wheels : less spikes”

5) A hand grab different parts of the wheel, pushing harder in the second half. Bubbles says “some have gloves, some don’t. The hand must grab the biggest area possible. Less movement = more energy. This is a common but not only way to push.Calvin is on his back wheels, rolling on grass and dirt bubble says “popping a wheelie is when a wheelchair user rolls on their back wheels to roll on every complicated surface.

6) several drawings illustrate the folding frame, the ergonomic but rigid and expensive backrest, the separated footrest (only for folding frame), the handles, the folding handles, athe amovibles handles, or no handles, the cool fancy loopwheels, the pretty custom colors 

7) More Features ! The fancy rigid-foldable frame, the anti tippers (sometimes used by beginners), the motorization (wheels, smart drive) when propelling yourself is difficult Calvin says “and now vroom vroom motherfuckers”

#sometimes i think abt how my ME/CFS symptoms were present from an abnormally early age #and when nothing showed up on tests everyone brushed it off as attention seeking #even tho my symptoms were on the mark absoloutely textbook #if i had been diagnosed earlier or even if someone had simply told me it was ok to listen to my body #it would never have gotten as bad as it has #and my mental health wouldve been a lot better as well #ive had symptoms since childhood and it shouldnt have taken leaving my family as an adult just to hear one person say yeah thats not normal #medical neglect cw #suicide cw

i honestly believe human beings are not meant to live like this. we are meant to live in loving communities and be around nature every day and grow our own food and create art and not work day and night until we die. this longing for another life is not human nature, it’s a symptom of modern society.
