my great uncle passed yesterday and while it was really sad news i knew it was coming for a while now and had time to come to terms with it. he was the last surviving one of my grandfather's siblings and it feels like that entire generation is lost to me now. it makes me feel a lot better to know that their legacy will live on in their kids and through me and the rest of my family.
We’re truly sorry to read this, we hope you and you family are okay even in these circunstances. What they teached you and the rest of your family will live forever, the little things are going to become a tradition and no matter if they’re not here anymore, their presence will linger as long as you remember them with this affection

Wow, the colors! This is such a beautiful ofrenda, you and your neighbors really worked hard to make it looks like this!

Very late to the party but here you are @pixarcoco
Me and my neighbors worked together to have a community ofrenda, since none of us had enough space in our apartments.
This isn’t the final product, since we all had different schedules and added things at different points of the day, but I figured I’d share regardless.

So my great grandmother and great aunt both died this year. They had many siblings that my mom knew better. I miss them so much, but I know that they are reunited with our beloved family and are much happier now.
We’re sorry for your loss, but just as you said, they’re in a better place now, watching you grow up and become someone amazing! It’s something they wouldn't miss for anything in the world.

It’s such an honour for us that you took the time to show us every detail of your ofrenda, thank you so much!
Also I took a video for you to look closely each detail. ;) I got troubles in the end because I was running out of battery, but fortunately. I was able to put all the cuts in one video.

The details are beautiful! The effort and love shines bright in every part of your ofrenda. Also those dark chocolate skulls? definitely a perfect touch!

It’s a family tradition that I have the charge of putting the ofrenda in the house. I am the visual artist of the family and, well, I’m proud of how it ends looking. ^^  I didn’t have many photos of my relatives because I was running out of time and I wanted to take photos and upload it for you. Don’t worry, they will cross the bridge, I’m going to look for the photos later. ;)

My grandpa was son to a rich family, while my grandma belonged to a very humble one. His family was heavily against their union because she really didn't have anything to give, but her love. My grandpa decided he loved my grandma more than his family's riches, so he married her, ignoring his parents' wishes. They were young when they got married, and they lived +40 years together before my grandpa passed away. She died some years later. To this day, they are a symbol of what true love is to me.
Oh por dios, this story took our breath away! The love, loyalty, respect your grandparents had to each other is stunning, no wonder why they’re a symbol of true love in your family. They really are inspiring, now they’re legends for us too!

I'll always miss my aunt Barbara and Uncle George. They both were so full of life and always encouraged me to follow my dreams. My uncle George reminds me so much of Héctor. He was so energetic and silly and acted like a total dad to me. My aunt Barbara was stern but loving, a lot like Imelda. I both lost them to sickness but I always know they are with me in my heart. I'll always keep them in my memories and honor their lives.
Both sound like an amazing couple, the contrast in their personalities really made them perfect for each other!. We assure you that just like Imelda and Héctor, they’re living countless days together while being proud in who you are and what person you’ll become.

I had a boyfriend from 4th to 7th grade and he died on July 16, 2018 at the very young age of 19. He had a brain condition that I didn’t know he had. I found the ring he gave me while we were still together and I still wear it on a chain around my neck. I miss him so much!
That’s so sweet of you!. We’re sure he misses you too but he’s also glad you remember him through that important present.

My ofrenda! I don’t have a lot of space in my dorm so it’s on my window sill… Which also has an air conditioner 😒 It has my great grandma who blessed me with Mexican heritage, along with Lenin and Trotsky because I don’t have any other dead relatives I have pictures of. 💕🇲🇽

i never really knew my nanay's side of the family, but she would always talk about my lola. i remember she said she had cats named after every day of the week, and she and her siblings particularly loved Thursday the most. she would let them draw on a big sheet of paper and told funny jokes to them. she said that she wouldve loved the jokes that we told now. i still regret the fact that i never got to know her before she died. i hope shes in a better place now. love you mamita
Cats named after every day of the week?! She sounds like a fantastic person that knew how to bring color to the life of every single person she met! We have no doubts she’s waiting the day you both can finally meet, so save some jokes for her, she’ll love them!

I lost my dog tragically around three years ago. She died of a surgery failure while trying to remove a tumor inside of her, and although I've learned to cope and move on, she still lives on in my heart. She may not be here with me anymore, but words can't describe how I'll always remember her as my closest friend and family member, and how she will be there to guide me through the roughest times regardless.
Dogs are indeed a very important part of the family.
Just like you said before, she’s still with you even if you feel a bit down or if something amazing happened today, we’re sure she doesn’t miss any single moment of your life!. The Aztecs believed that you were granted a peaceful afterlife if you treat dogs with care and love, rest assured your lovely friend already told the Xolos you were the bestest with her.
