Late night lightning and doc dynamic brain rot…

Lightning wakes up late during an international racing trip. This probably wouldn’t be the most uncommon thing since he seems like a VERY heavy sleeper (see: entire first movie’s plot happened because he managed to sleep roll out of his trailer) and it causes chaos as usual.

That day isn’t a race day, but it is an important interview/PR photo shoot/various other important not racing things day. He zips around the hotel/rental place they are staying at trying to get ready for the day. Meanwhile, Doc sits in the eye of the storm, chill as usual, seemingly just enjoying his coffee and letting Lightning make a mess of the place.

Later in the day, during a quiet moment while the photographers change the set, Lightning complains about the fact he’s hungry but forgot to grab a lunch. He and the other racers taking part in the photoshoot try to figure where he can grab a quick bite the eat with the scarce time he has but draw blanks.

Doc then appears out of nowhere and hands Lightning a packed lunch in one of those classic brown paper bags. He knew he Lightning would forget to pack something in the morning rush and didn’t want him to go hungry.

Lightning is then (lovingly) teased by everyone else for the next couple months because he’s so predictable that his dad crew chief knew to pack him a lunch

“you know you dont have to help me do everything, right? you could always tell me the instructions.” natalie tells her with a lighthearted, joking tone

“what fun is that?! we’re baking together, i like being able to do this. plus, its cold in here and youre warm, its a win-win situation!”

natalie throws her head back and laughs, “cant really argue with that, can i?”

baking sort of goes to shit, they abandon all of the ingredients still on the counter and end up putting on a movie on the tv in cruz’s room, just cuddling up together in her bed and falling asleep to whatever film they’d half-agreed on watching together
