I call upon the fan fic writing gods to bless you with the perseverance to finish one of your unfinished drafts.
May your fingers dance along the letters upon your device with ease, may the devil of distraction stay far from you, and may your work not need much editing.
I pass this blessing upon every fan fic writer out there.

(in the Avengers Tower gym)
Clint: So why do you do your paperwork here?
Kate: (sipping coffee while watching Yelena do her warm ups) For the aesthetic? I dunno.

"AO3 doesn't need a "dislike" button"
Um, actually, it already has one. Depending on your specs, it might look a little different but over all it looks kinda like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can find it at the corner of your screen, which corner is dependent on your layout.
Anyway, if you dislike a fic, you can hit this Dislike Button until the fic goes away. It really is pretty amazing actually.

Kate was already regretting the longer walk with Lucky, but it had been a busy day for her and as a result, she hadn’t been able to let him out until a couple hours after her normal time. Thankfully, there were no accidents and everything was in once piece, but the bruises she knew would set tomorrow were starting to impede her walking ability and she got a cramp in her calf halfway through that she had to walk off. It wasn’t a quick walk, but Lucky didn’t seem to mind. The sun had just started to set when she decided to make the trek back to her new apartment.
If she could call it that. She’d managed to rent out the upstairs of a run-down warehouse. It was nearly the same size as her old apartment, but nowhere near as nice. It was in a more… discreet location, though. Harder to find. Which was good for her considering most of the time, she’d taken on the role of the local vigilante slash part-time private eye (that one was more a new endeavor; all she had so far was a logo). Plus, the landlord said she could use the bottom of it for the moment since he had no use for it, but nothing was hooked up to power or gas and couldn’t be used as a living space, so she’d turned it into a gym. It was perfect for setting up her targets, a couple punching bags, and her weights. If anyone snooped, it wouldn’t look suspicious as long as she kept her bow and arrows upstairs. At least, she hadn’t had any trouble yet. Eventually, much later than she’d anticipated coming home, Kate unlocked the door and nearly limped through it, ready to run herself a scalding bath to relax every muscle in her body. Uncharacteristically, Lucky began whining pulling at the leash, nearly sending Kate’s arm out of its socket. “Dude, calm down! Hang on!” “Kate Bishop.” The voice was barely audible over Lucky’s panting, but she dropped his leash in favor of her bow, which was hanging up by the door, slotting an arrow and drawing it in the second it took for her heart to jump out of her chest. In the rising moonlight, she could just make out a figure against the bottom of the couch, sitting on the floor.

Yelena: You look like someone who will create lots of problems for me.
Yelena: And I'm not going to lie. I'm kind of into that, Kate Bishop.

if you ever think ur doing a bad job just know it cant be worse than the historians that read “I tore open your letter and licked the envelope's seal for any lingering trace of you” “my darling, so near I seem to you, that I disdain this pen, and wait for a warmer language.” “I hope for you so much, and feel so eager for you, feel that I cannot wait, feel that now I must have you—” “To own a Susan of my own Is of itself a Bliss -Whatever Realm I forfeit, Lord, Continue me in this!” “I need her - I must have her, Oh give her to me” “Now, farewell, Susie... I add a kiss, shyly, lest there is somebody there! Don't let them see, will you Susie?” “Show me Eternity, and I will show you Memory -Both in one package lain And lifted back again -Be Sue - while I am Emily - Be next - what you have ever been -Infinity.”, and thought emily dickinson’s relationship with sue was that of two very close friends— sisterly like.

not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…
‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.
‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.
even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.
I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.
fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.
idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.
