Mirrors can reflect different people at the same time and one person in multiple ways

(And a single person can have multiple mirrors)

A mirror can reflect different people.  A character can symbolise several people at the same time.  That’s why there can be parallels between Eurus and Sherlock and Eurus and John.  Eurus and Mycroft, even: the sky is the limit if you find some parallel or equivalence, some way to use her symbolism in your analysis.

A character like Eurus is deeply allegorical because they’re there to shed light on the whole story.  So, there’s no competition between whether Eurus is Sherlock or John.  She is both.  She is every person, she’s you and me.  She is a theme.  She is love: suppressed, hidden, turned monstrous and self-destructive.  She is self-imposed loneness and isolation.  (Here check this out, here’s an additional Eurus parallel.  Spoiler alert: It’s Sholto).  

We’ve even seen the idea that a mirror can be symbolic of multiple people and of one person in multiple ways lots of times, 

So, while, yes, the plot may reveal that some of the story was the dream of one character and not another, this does not negate all the meaning that’s put into these mirrors.  

Eurus is not ultimately John and therefore not Sherlock or vice versa: it’s a matter of perspective.  This is like arguing over an MC Escher painting.  Are the horses going one way or the other?  No, it’s both.  It’s either.  It depends on how you look at it,
