hi! i'm new to your blog and i saw a post where you vented in the tags about someone beating themselves up about something? i mean i get why you're venting but do you not think you could've been more patient with them? obvs I dont know the whole story but as someone who is habitually self-depreciating, it's distressing to think that it could really be that annoying to someone... idk i dont mean to fill your ask with things like this, it's just another perspective

i honestly tried to on multiple occasions but whenever i tried to help them out, tell them that things were going to be okay, and generally just try to make the situation better, they would dig the hole deeper before leaving almost abruptly to go to bed and sleep it off, so there was never any development and it just kept getting set up to happen again.

this doesn’t apply to everyone and i understand that people beat themselves up like that but it was incredibly unhealthy for me and i did my best to try and deal with it. it never improved and i decided to get myself out of the situation. i don’t hold any bad feelings towards them and i wish them the best but personally i just can’t let that keep happening, it’s not good for my mental health.
