                  “ Oh  ,  I don’t know sweetheart. “    He winked  ,  “ Your wounds cut me deep  ,  whatever shall I do other than perish ? “  The corners of his lips twitched upwards in amusement.    “ You’re welcome  ,  doll.   First class lady deserves first class chocolates  ,  right ? As for my return gift  ,  seein’ the happy smile is enough. “

Mya leaned against the door frame, a rose between her teeth, pose and gaze suggestive. She wore a tight red dress complimenting her form. "You're gonna dance with me, handsome?" she teased, the red rose now in her hand, "Or do I have to find myself another Valentine?"

                  He threw his jacket off to the corner  ,  it landed     HAPHAZARDLY    on the back of one of the chairs.  If he wore a tie  ,  he’d have     LOOSENED      it.   Yet as he looked up towards the door frame  ,   his breath caught in his throat    ---    his palms went       dry     and all he could do for a moment  was stare.                   Fingers tugged at the hem of his shirt     EYES GLUED    on Mya’s form.  She was absolutely stunning   ,   sheer perfection. 

                He wasted no more time dithering by the door   ,   instead he moved over to her.   Pulling her towards his frame by her hips before taking the rose out of her mouth and placing it gently on the side.   His head dipped and kissed lightly at the skin that ran from her neck to her shoulder.                   “ No other man is going to come anywhere close to you -- “    A growl   ,   yet you could hear the smile in his tone.     “ You look good enough to eat.  Who am I to refuse you a dance ? “

                  He couldn’t help the laugh that fell from his lips  ,  ever typical a response.  He’d been expecting it in truth.   “ Of course I mean spendin’ time with you   --   but I wanna spoil ya too  ,  ya know ? “   His hand caught hold of her waist at her forceful tug towards her  ,  not that he was complaining in the slightest.    “ But  ,  yes  --   I got it. “  He bent his head   ,  kissing the top of hers ever so gently.   “ But I’m brinin’ a picnic and good wine at the very least  ,  alright ? “

A Turk blushing. This is the kind of incongruous gift he’s been granted by working so closely with the group. The knowledge that few would even believe such a thing continued to curl one corner of his mouth.

“A cat, hm?” Rufus considered the image of predatory grace, hardly finding it offensive. “I believe I’ll take that as a compliment.” He always had appreciated Reno’s transparency. While Rufus was hardly the poster child of an open book, he did appreciate those who didn’t bother hiding what they thought. It made his job a good deal easier for him.

“I see.” The ghost of a sigh was in Rufus’s voice. Not precisely a wasted trip, since the point of coming down here himself had been to stretch his legs, but certainly one that lacked the desired productivity. He leaned himself against the edge of Reno’s desk, an amused smile returning to his lips. He produced to file from the folds of his jacket. “I require Tseng’s signature on a handful of documents. Thought I’d take a walk.” Setting the file down, Rufus tilted his head, blond strands of hair feathering out over his forehead.

Time for the real questions. “What were you listening to that had you so… light on your feet?”

                  RENO FROWNED   ,   ONLY SLIGHTLY    ---   annoyed at the pink tinge that seemed to colour his cheeks somewhat.   The earphones hanging around his neck as the music still played through them   ,   though by now he was paying it absolutely no mind.                      “   Yeah   ,   sir    ---    a cat.  “     Almost feline like in grace   ,   only in your presence as long as they needed or wanted to be.   Would bite you if you annoyed them too much    ---    heavens above   ,   the similarity was striking.    Naturally Reno would not openly say the added parts to the mans face   ,   he liked his head on his shoulders and didn’t want to come face to face with his gun after all.                           He stepped forward   ,   closer to the blonde    ---   and picked up the file  ,  placing it on the   important   pile on Tseng’s desk.  At least that way Reno knew it would take top priority when Tseng did return.   “ Fair. “    He answered   ,   leaning against the desk somewhat  ,   head tilted to one side.    “ Stretchin’ ya legs is important to keep the muscles movin !  Or   ,    so they say anyway. “

                   Then the question of what he was listening to came   ,   only causing the blush to further deepen down his neck.   The song itself had been a guilty pleasure of his  ,  one he didn’t particularly want others to know he’d been listening to.                     For the first time ever      ---     the redhead stammered.

                   “ Oh   ,   you know   ---   this and that. “   He leant back further on the desk  ,  looking up at the ceiling and avoiding the blondes ever piercing eyes.    “ I didn’t  ‘spect anyone else to be here this late so   ,   figured dancin’ round   ---   wouldn’t get ... you know  ,   seen.  “

Thera’s first response was a quick double-take. She’d actually been speaking mostly to herself, but since it had been out loud … she chuckled, taking the unexpected answer just the same. “I think that might depend on your point of view. I mean, the restricted zones are signposted and sealed, but I’d hate to end up somewhere I shouldn’t be.” If that happened, a reprimand and mark on her file were probably the least nasty option.

“But, hi … it’s Reno, right?” A guess, but with that hair she didn’t think it could be anyone else. “I don’t suppose you could point me toward Director Tuesti’s office?”

                        “    Ah , but unexpected adventure’s the most fun , dontcha think?    “      He smiled at her as he rubbed the back of his head  ,   he supposed she had a point.  After all  ,  the signs weren’t just there for show.   Well     ---    maybe for him they were  ,  but he could understand others wanting to follow the rules.                             “    alright then  ,  I won’t send ya on a wild chocobo chase   ---   no matter how much fun it might wind up bein’.    “

                      He made a gesture with his hand   ,   one that signalled quite clearly to follow him.   A grand and somewhat dramatic gesture to be sure    --  but still   ,   it held everything it had to in that.       “   You wanna see Reeve  ,  huh ?    Well , as it just so happens I’m on my way in that general direction   ---  “     The general direction being the complete opposite direction of course   ,     “   so how’s about I show ya the way ? “
