let’s talk about kanan.

He spends most of his life running from himself and his guilt. The fact she died because of him. It gets to a point where he will do anything to not Feel anymore. Even before that, he was always looking for the next rush, the next exciting thing.

he meets Hera and starts to reinvent himself. He starts to fight back, joins the cause. He finds connections,family. He finds love. he meets Ezra and sees himself again. The person, the feeling he’s been avoiding for 15 years. Yet instead of running again, he trains him. In the season 1 finale, he is confronted with the fact that it wasn’t his fault; his master choose to save him just as he chooses to be captured to save the crew. He is forced to relive the moment and comes out stronger for it. He knows his place, he reconnects with himself and the force.

In s2, we see him struggle to let go of his fear for Ezra and his family. He’s still fighting against guilt, but it’s different this time. the feeling he is powerless against the empire.

in the s2 finale, His fears are once again realized. He has to put Ezra’s life in the hands of someone he knows isn’t trustworthy. He looses his sight, one of his primary ways to interact with the world; to keep his family safe. He is again disconnected from himself.

in Jedi night, everything comes together. He sees his future, he understands the paths that they all will have to take. He faces himself, wholly, and accepts it. He’s able to see himself again, both literally and figuratively. He’s able to see again, just for a moment, the ones he loves.

from being able to see the world but not himself, to being blind but aware, he changes in so many ways. His arc is perfect.

Sobbing over the realization that Ezra’s canonically pretty short (ignoring live action), but since we know his parents weren’t particularly small people the reason Ezra is so short is probably because of the malnutrition and stress he experienced living on the street from AGE SEVEN to being constantly ON THE RUN and actively FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE in a rebellion turned war for his later teenage years
