Went back to @urbanhawker for lunch yesterday. Tried out @hainan_jones #hainanchickenrice and @daisysdreamkitchen #laksa The chicken rice was quite good. Both roasted and poached chicken were tender. The rice can be more flavorful with stronger broth flavor, but it was ok. Chili sauce was nice and garlicky. The laksa though was disappointing. They didn’t even bother to properly source the noodles. They use bee hoon instead. The broth was ok, not great. It was more a curry bee hoon dish. It is possible to get laksa style noodles here. Went to the soft opening of @urbanhawkers and tried out some dishes. Was not very impressed. We tried mee rebus from Padi NYC and the gravy was too soupy with overwhelming dried prawn flavor. They did not have the satay today. We also tried the chicken biryani and roti prata with egg from Mamak’s Corner. The rice was tasteless and the prata was thick and dense. A decent item was oyster omelette from Prawnoholic. Don’t get to try the chicken rice from Hainan Jones. And Daisy’s Dream was not serving food today. Will have to return to try others dishes.
