Context: beginning of the 7-year gap; the day before miles leaves for germany, phoenix goes to say farewell, and they finally confess their feelings for each other. a delicate moment for phoenix, just before things go awry and become even more delicate lol. what this moment means for his relationship with miles is a bittersweet feeling, the relief of years of pining vs. the uncertainty of their future together as their lives go separate ways once again.
I wrote all of this context down and it's more developed than this small summary, so I might draw it someday too lol. For now have this snippet that I've cooked up entirely in my brain and for my own enjoyment!!
I love nick and maya's sibling relationship, talking to each other like two silly teens that have to share all the gossip they get their hands on. And I also love that miles and maya would bond over steel samurai and only talk about that for hours on the phone. they're so ♾️

I was too depressed for anything so I drew the age gap seb here you are people
also I want to draw more his grown up version from my head
he puts like A LOT OF books on the prosecutor's desk and all of them are dictionaries. and when he's losing he starts to obsessively search for words in them and then ends up straight up eating ripped pages... I should draw it lol

(tw: mention of suicide) Did we, as a fandom, just collectively forget how ruthless Miles Edgeworth can be sometimes? And I’m not just talking about his demon prosecutor era, I mean also after his redemption arc. Because I was just playing through Farewell My Turnabout and watching him reveal Adrian Andrews attempted suicide in court after she begged both him and Phoenix not to… I was sitting there with my mouth open thinking: damn Edgeworth, was that really necessary??
And you know what, I love it. I love how he was ruthless in getting a guilty verdict in the past, and now he uses that ruthlessness to find the truth. Because I'm not just here for the traumatized, socially awkward, emotionally constipated, caring Edgeworth. I'm also here for the ruthless, intimidating, competent, morally grey Edgeworth. I'm not here for a watered-down version of Edgeworth. He wouldn't be my favorite character if he didn't have this nuance.

the ace attorney gods really gave us the perfect mentor (sarcastic, has a little sister who is probably lesbian) with a canon male love interest (bi, sexist, died once but lived) and a canon female love interest (committed forgery, has a little sister, has a homosexual little fella who works under her who is in love with mia's subordinate) and then just fucking killed her on the second case.

aa5-3 is lowkey bullshit in the fact that "the end justifies the means" would absolutely be taught by Phoenix to Athena.
Just thinking about the fact that Phoenix literally falsified evidence to get Kristoph jailed. He's done some sketchy ass things to help his cases. Sometimes, it's how he got results, aka the reason why people during the Dark Age of Law did sketchy ass things.
And the thing is? Mia Fey has used underhand techniques! In Turnabout Sisters, guess who literally blackmailed Redd White into confessing? (Ofc he deserved it but the principle is still there!).
Obviously, Prof. Means was morally wrong in how he was using that methodology, but that lesson just wasn't really effective to me. It's in the context of the Dark Age of Law, but "the end doesn't justify the means" thing doesn't work in Ace Attorney in the way they probably intended it.
The lawyers literally break into places, steal things for evidence, etc etc. Hell, even prosecutors do if we think about aai.
I get the point, but idk. I liked aa5-3 but that case also somehow affected my general enjoyment of dual destinies/Dark Age of Law.
