Next fella. Couldn't quite nail Wyborg on the first go, but it looked decent so I kept it. 2nd one sure missed its mark lol, but the 3rd one is close enough to what we want, so here you go, 1st & 3rd sketches of danger noodle

I should post more
Anyway, other than the stuff I posted a few days ago, I do also like the aesthetics of heraldry. And you know what critters would be a pretty nice fit for some heraldry-esque things?
Yeah there's ideas I've got

Moved apartment. Eating cereal. Little thoughts, many thoughts
Might as well, it'll be a while until I get anything presentable of this idea actually finished. But! Yeah, I'm thinking of stuff, got plans. I'm not too confident with human faces yet, but I can manage some crechurs. So, I've got some plans on doing stuff with the Bit-Beasts/Sacred Beasts. It'll take a hot minute, but I did start testing/sketching out some ideas at least. We'll see how long it'll take, but ay, it's a start!
I'll definitely be running into the problem of 'no good reference pictures' at some point xD But that comes when it comes. Have these for now. Canine faces are more familiar to me, so testing things out with Wolborg is natural haha (I've never posted from my phone before, laugh at this fool)

SO UMMM
I have to. I have to say this. I may regret this later, but The co-incidents They’re just Too close Alright fellas Here’s a thing So.... My grandpa, the closest elder relative I had passed away this Monday. He had a sudden health complication that I won’t go deeper into, bless his soul though, he was a chill dude who took me bird watching and fishing as a kid &  shared an interest in history But yes, he did unfortunately pass recently Now here’s the thing His birthdate was the same as Elizabeth II’s, he was some years younger though, but the date was the same And guess what Guess freaking what There’s some strange connection here He has mentioned the shared birthdate before, and here it is again You guys. This is so wild to me

No I don’t have a favourite character what ever are you talking about Yo but seriously, how could you not like this man? We got both the calm, few worded aspect, and on the other end we got the no stops, absolutely unhinged man. Yes. No lie though trying to fit any Novae Rog related poses into this chibi style, yeah, try it, it’s gonna be wild and you’ll make some faces that are great for expression practice lol I got a 3rd sketch in the same file too, but got carried away with the details of these two so.... I might as well have go and finish them first - so I did Fun stuff though, I like his design, and wouldn’t mind drawing the whole coat. But somehow every single sketch has most of the upperhalf covered. My man. Arms crossed 24/7 or something. Help.

Went out to see people, so I won’t really be finishing anything tonight - because work stuff happens in the morning (= I gotta sleep and can’t do a 24 hours awake -trick) But so I mentioned I rewatched some nostalgic stuff, yeah? I sure did. And I took like, 500 screenshots, because I like doing that And then at some point I just look at these pictures and find myself humored because my head makes a connection & then I had to compare how close they were to each other Brilliant I’ll do more art/writing in the coming week, but I felt like I had to yeet this out there, it fit too well

Ok I tell you what. So, ArtFight was going on, all of July, yes? It’s a nice thing, love partaking in it But what was my mind doing during all of July? Being hecking nostalgic for a childhood show I used to watch. This franchise had such an iron grasp on me as a kid for some year. Including a good ol’ Pokemon curse of ‘gotta buy them all’ when it came to the Beyblades themselves lol But so yeah, I went ahead, rewatched things here and there where I could, and Finally watched all of Season 3 (aka G-Revolution). Bruh. I was expecting to be cringing, but the Japanese version is actually pretty dang nice. It’s got some interesting ideas to itself and all that So. I may or may not have been talking with a friend about it all month And then I may or may not have written some speedy low quality ‘what if’ plot scenario that, knowing me, expanded to, like, I don’t know. More than 9k words and almost 50k characters. And I’m not even done with it yet xD There’s at least 2 more things to it I wanna write out. I’ve just been yeeting bits of it to a friend of mine while they work their nightshift and what have you. Likely won’t be posting it on public - but I can try putting it somewhere if anyone here wants to read some speedily written stuff. I’d certainly have to edit it at least a bit though (like, one part I definitely wrote 75% asleep - bro I can’t post that!) But!! That writing did give me some extra motivation, so I went ahead with the only way I can draw humans, and made some chibies for them boys! I will want to draw them again, maybe, perhaps... But this time it’s these looks, mainly inspired by what I’ve been writing - and then I just like the end of the series coat look Kai has. That looked extra neat (If anyone here Does want to subject their eyes to some ‘What if Tala/Yuriy woke up a bit earlier’ kinda writing, that’s situated after the big Kai vs Brooklyn fight took place. I mean, I suppose you can send me a message and I’ll see what I can do? Can’t promise stuff on quality, but hey! If you just wanna see people vibing with their hyperfixations, I can’t blame you!)

ArtFight is upon us I did not finish any profiles or references on time xD As is tradition lol. But to be honest, the last year in time has been really rough, so I don’t necessarily blame myself for it (I mean I Do, but the result is reasonable all things considered) Anyway! So I had the plan of adding some of my Chozo OCs as options this year, as I have a brainrot and they’re in my thoughts and I do like ‘em lots. So... Yeah. When I couldn’t work on any profiles or refs, I took the time to sketch out what would be icons for their profiles one day. Some good ol’ chibies Went with mostly topless look so the individual looks of each character could be more noticeable, but kept the leg armor as a unifying bit + to show that there’s some armor they wear (and because I have not designed more a casual kinda look to any of them - I do plan on doing that though) But ye, couldn’t get to finish these on time. I’ll do that some day. I can still post the W.I.P.s though~ And yes, that’s a singular Thoha there. Guiding Heart my beloved, once I get the time and energy I do want to include them in the selection too

I gotta do this as a reblog because this will be Way too long for the AskBox lol (I'm sorry haha) These murals? Neat. Any bit of lore, worldbuilding and speculations? Yes please. Just nerding out and having a grand old time? Spectacular. Absolutely marvelous. Headcanons galore! Our recent motto in this household as of late has been 'go crazy go stupid' and I proudly live by that~ Which means we are free. Unapologetic literature teacher speculation mode is Go! Here's my own personal random additional collective pile of speculations on things. Theories, potentials, headcanons, wild guesses, absolutely super overthinking everything (for sure), who knows buddy~ Ya'll like jazz essays? Be prepared to be here for an hour
{{{ As a side note, I know that a handful of these are likely just coincidents or simply not something the developers planned out. Most likely case is they just did what they did it because it fit and looked nice, no deeper meanings or reasons what so ever. Heck, as a creator myself I can definitely say you don't always plan literally everything, a handful of things exist just because they 'looked/sounded nice', and I respect the creators for what they've made regardless. But there's no sin in speculating and making up your own explanations either~ These are for fun anyway, we're just enjoying ourselves <3 }}} Aight let's start with the hierarchic scale as well since that's at the top It isn't something obvious on the first glance, and may be a bit of a stretch, but if you overthink it just enough, you can take note in the Thoha being just a tad bigger than the 'basic row soldier Mawkin' that are depicted in the mural. It's not by a lot, but the Thoha are indeed made taller (= it's not just the robes or accessories that make them taller; if you straighten one of the falling fellas just a bit and put them next to a soldier the Thoha is indeed taller (also it looks hilarious to my 3am self. It just looks like the Thoha is about to absolutely wreck house and raise hell on the soldier - who is terrified, too paralyzed by fear at the sight to even move)). It's not by a lot but it is there. This can certainly bring up a few thoughts, especially considering the hierarchic scaling. - Either the maker or commissioner of the mural holds the Thoha to a slightly higher decree than they do regular soldiers. - The difference in height is very small though, so the reality could also be that the Thoha are referred to as being just about as good as standard row soldiers are. *Which in return honestly downgrades them a bunch, the Thoha that is. Mawkin tribe for sure values their soldiers and there's no unworthy soldier - the ones that aren't worthy are Drogyga food afterall - but the bottom of the allowed bottom is still a bottom. However, even with all this, there's still respect for the Thoha. Perhaps even a surprising amount depending on how bad you assume the relations between the two tribes are. - If they saw the Thoha as being worth absolutely nothing, they'd be small, noticeably so. Certainly smaller than every depicted Mawkin at least for sure. Yet here they are, sculpted as near equals in scale. - There's definitely respect there somewhere, be it for the reason that they're fellow Chozo and it'd be embarrassing to the whole Chozo race if even a single one of them was no-good. - Or for the fact that the Thoha tribe did create the Metroids, and Raven Beak sees potential use in them. You gotta give the Thoha some credit over this achievement (along with their studies on Aeion energy of course). So at least their work is valued, meaning they are too. Credit where credit is due. *And, well, if the Thoha had absolutely no value, why/how would anything they make have value either? You don't want to drag down your own name by using something made by someone with a bad name to themselves - especially if you like boasting about your achievements, like a lot, like enough to make murals depicting said achievements. Honest or Forced respect, it does exist. And in either case, the most important fact of importance that remains on that front is the fact that Raven Beak boasts a much higher height to himself. He's in a league of his own, far greater than anyone else and no-one could ever even hope to stand up to him. An intimidating figure whose existence alone overshadows a whole separate tribe. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Next up was the language, and I'll certainly toss a completely blind and half random idea here But what if the completely separate looking symbols next to the box are a Signature of sorts? My memory doesn't carry that far, but I both have and don't have an idea on if we have seen any of the character's names ever written anywhere? Maybe? Or no? We've heard them spoken out, but I can't remember if we've ever seen a written one. So... A possibility? Perhaps if the names are written somewhere else with the more proper triangular alphabets - because those are official important files or then it's there just for clarity's sake - and then this one here that doesn't follow the alphabet that we're used to might just be a signature. Or if we haven't seen any names written anywhere, it could simply just be a name. OR, it is a name, but not like just any 'your everyday name' kinda thing, but a title, an honorific. Perhaps it's even just, like, a Very old means of writing. Like the letters we've gotten accustomed to and have deciphered so far are their modern writing, and that little bit on the side is a remnant of the olden days (and well, on that front, Raven Beak for sure is probably fairly old, so it'd make sense for him to use the older typography orrrrr what have you for his name) Or it's about etiquette. Like, to honor something else. Quiet Robe does mention that Raven Beak { 'Worships at the Altar of Power' }, which seems like a thing that would be given special attention. Just like you treat a god or spirit you worship with a lot of respect and special attention and care & may ask for assistance, blessing or a request of other sorts from them, who is to say the Chozo wouldn't have a special or specific set of symbols/writing for these occasions. Special ways to write the names of their gods, spirits. If you pay respect to someone/something you'd probably want to add their name or symbol there too as a nod to said being, and these traditions are likely fairly old, and you may just prefer to keep the symbols used the same over time to not lessen their meaning. So if it isn't a quotation from Raven Beak (like, the {Hadar sen Olmen} is written inside a rounded box afterall, which would potentially make it a speech bubble of sorts (Hah, this is assuming they'd have things like those in the first place) which would make sense as to why RB's name is scribbled next to it if he is the one speaking), then there's some other kind of highlighted attention brought to the {Hadar sen Olmen} for another reason. Perhaps it's just an important phrase to them, or the commissioner just wants to highlight it in specific. OR it's there to pay respect to the god/spirit/deity of worship that helped them achieve this or something. Like you devote things to specific people and all that, you could pay your respects here by including their mark Also this pic here just happens to have similar writing/symbols in it. Related perhaps? It's very close but not the exact same, might still give an idea on its usage

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ayyyy let's get to the artistic things next up then. Here's where I go full stoopid, 110% literature teacher Just a lot of random things and thoughts, GO The Mawkin logo placed above the (falling) Thoha could symbolize how the Mawkin are above them. They might have been equal in the past, but now they're truly above them Also a bit of a thing too is how that big logo there is the only one with a 'cape' on it. There's two smaller ones that don't have it. Perhaps that's just a more casual way of having their tribe's name present, or something. It could also mean that the one next to the writing above the Thoha is actually meant to be read along with the rest of the text. OR then it's just meant to symbolize Raven Beak as a whole. A small logo for others, big fancy one for him when there's not enough space for his full glory (he has to always stand apart and above the rest, give him a logo made on one of those sparkly glitter gif sites, he deserves it) As a separate new other thing, I'd personally call the depiction of the Thoha being cast into their doom as 'organized chaos'. The poses of them all are the same, likely for stylistic reasons (and to save the makers of it (and the game developers) from having to make several different ones to depict each Thoha, just that they're tilted a little differently with each, some face left, some right. But yeah it's not a complete utter chaos like it could be I feel. It's quite organized and orderly in execution in a way. But overall they're all pretty much posed the same - save for the one at the very bottom being ever so slightly different with their mouth being closed where the others scream (could just be an accident too, by the artist who made the mural or game developers, but if we wanna be eeeextra, there's hidden meaning to be pulled from there too. 'The first of them went more peacefully, the rest not so much'). And hey, that's the only one who isn't upside down, so... Who knows? Significance? You make your own little headcanons~ There's also a thing about each and every Thoha wearing the same clothes and headdresses, etc. while we know there's at least some variety to them (we've seen different ones in the past and the flashback images). Could just be an overall way to depict all the Thoha, could be to keep the workload lesser, perhaps they just don't care about the individual things when it comes to the Thoha (I mean, it makes sense to just copypaste a bunch of soldiers to seem intimidating and boast with the size of your unified army - but those are more fitting words for the Mawkin than the Thoha, who probably have their own things and rank significance and potentially value individuality more, who knows) Over-analyzing, fun~ Alright, next up, simply thinking about the palette too much The most likely thing here is honestly that the palette in use is very limited (and it looks great, makes the whole piece look unified in a way and your eye isn't instantly drawn to 1 singular point in it) But since we are going the extra mile, let's pay attention to the fact that Raven Beak's cape is the same color as the robes the Thoha wear. We're pretty used to seeing him with the red cape, but he's still recognizable even when the color is different. Although, what if we draw some symbolism out of this? What could it imply? - That he took it from them or the other way around of them trying to take something from him - which then leads to them being cast into the pit. - That their blood is on him? He carries the weight of this action on his back/shoulders? Speaking of blood, the light side note is that it'd certainly give a different feeling if the blue was switched to a red. It's more a Thoha color to me honestly and it's been chosen here to represent the Thoha, whereas the red would be more symbolic to Raven Beak - and either giving that color to the Thoha is a no-go or it'd have the 'fun' side-effect of making the whole ordeal look a whole lot bloodier. But we'll get back to colors and their meaning in a bit Honestly though, I'd 110% buy it if they did give Raven Beak the red cape even in the mural. If he wants to be eye-catching and draw attention to his very being then boom, no better way in doing that than a spec of color not found anywhere else on the mural. But also honestly speaking, he's technically not the centerpiece of the mural, the act of Thoha genocide is. Now, about those colors... Sure we don't have a complete understanding of the Chozo, their culture and what not + the different tribes view things differently But we can still have a little fun here Red = Quite likely the color that represents power. Just raw physical power, control, the mark of one who is capable. It makes sense that those who go up in rank get to wear Red as another sign of their promotion. It's also the color that is used a lot for decorating in Ferenia. Raven Beak also seems to like wearing this color, it's pretty obvious, what else do I need to say? There's also probably some significance in all Mawkin having Red eyes (whereas for one Quiet Robe has Yellow eyes) (and they do have a  bit of a glow to them, so who knows what's up. Is it natural or not, we have no way of knowing) Gold = Well it's just a nice color, fancy, naturally shiny, makes for a neat accent and just looks nice. Humans do value gold and like seeking it out, but these are Chozo so they probably have a bit of a different view on it. Sure it could simply be fancy and flashy, intimidating others with the sheer amount of it and all that. Samus starts off with a Power Suit that's pretty close to Gold in most games. And the Thoha for sure like wearing Gold a lot. It might just have some old importance to it, something that lets it be valued to this day. Or then it just looks nice and the Chozo allow themselves a few nice things as a treat. There's gotta be something there with the main Elite Soldier wearing full on Gold armor (or simply gold-colored/-covered armor if the gold these fellas have is softer than a handful of other metals and materials). Things with gold in them could be important or valued - or simply look nice and shiny. I'll just leave it at it seemingly being a universally liked color/material by them. Ancient but still highly regarded. Black = It's a bit of a headcanon, but I do like to imagine black color has a bit of a allusive nature in it symbolizing strength as a whole. Like overall kinda strength, Red is already there for power, so black is the one that comes after that and touches on other fields of strength. Perhaps independence, mental strength, one that supports and protects. Once Gold loses its shimmer and becomes black, it may be worthless to some, but underneath there's still gold, and if you keep polishing it'll eventually shine through. This is also another color Raven Beak likes. His armor is rather dark here and there, and the Red tippet and cape he wears do have a gradient to Black (Red is still an overwhelming majority color though, so it's very much a 'power is everything, but other types of strength are also valued' kinda thing), so both are represented in a way, just that Red is vastly preferred. (Perhaps some other earlier ruler of the Mawkin Tribe preferred Black and would instead wear Black as their main highlight color along with it being the one to represent them. Who knows. Also fun side note, the Thoha Elder in my things and eyes do be wearing some darker colors on themselves. It'd make sense that the kind of strength more valued by the Thoha would be the mental kind (I didn't even plan on this, I settled on the darker color months prior based on the Quiet Robe storytime recreated pictures)) It also somewhat prominently features itself in Ferenia, and due to the fact there's plenty of Gold visible alongside it, I'd take that as a confirmation in it not being just stained gold, but deliberately dark in color instead. Some of the flags/banners do have a much darker color to them - if not outright being black. The decorations of shield + 2 spears combo are usually displayed with a black backing. It's also a somewhat common color to have in statues I'd say, that and the obvious Gold The grand statues guarding Elun are Black too, unlike their counterparts in the tram area from Ferenia to Ghavoran (I can't confidently say which color those are, but gold is a guess although they seem a bit washed out in comparison to other golden statues we see - but these ones are outside so it'd say makes sense. But they could just be standard metallic silver and the warmer hues are reflections from their surroundings) (In truth those 3 colors just go well together and look nice as a combo haha, can't blame them using them a lot in specific) Blue = Perhaps the color of knowledge? It'd certainly explain why it's the one preferred and mostly associated with the Thoha. It might also just be a more peaceful color as a whole, perhaps too calm for the liking of Mawkins as a whole as they already have given the mental strength kinda role to Black. Could mean clarity of some sort too, but I do like the knowledge take on it. As an additional thingy, if you look at the mural that's in the elevator room in Ferenia, you can see that the Space Pirates are mostly colored in grey/silver. I feel this color overall to the Mawkin just doesn't hold that high of a value. It can be everywhere in high amounts, so it'd certainly not scream rarity to them. There's also the feel of some of the Space Pirates that try to be on the attack, seem hostile and all that, but they're simply just fading into the background with their insignificance. They may try as hard as they want, they're still getting nowhere. (Also little bonus with this pic, you can see the hierarchic scale here too. Tiny puny Space Pirates)
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And now we go back to a whole different thing that I mentioned ways earlier The things about the commissioner, maker and overall creation of the mural itself. The later one definitely has had plenty of thought put into it by several people already, but there's always room for more~ So, speaking of the first thing there, that being the commissioner. I do believe - or at least headcanon - that it was indeed commissioned (rather than being made just for the sake of it). There's just so much to the mural even outside of what it's depicting. It being in Ferenia is obviously no strange thing, with it being their sanctuary and filled with all sorts of decorations and grand architecture as is. It is, however, placed in a quite the peculiar place. A nice big open room, a quaint set of grand fountains right nearby, the absolutely perfect place to relax and get a good clear view of it. Oh right and Quiet Robe happens to work at just about the next room over. You know. Quiet Robe, a Thoha, the sole 'survivor' of the massacre. Wonderful. So yeah. If by chance Quiet Robe has worked in that same room for the wholety of his duration in ZDR, you just know this was done on purpose. This room was chosen for a specific reason, and of course it's facing the person that enters the room through the door as the very first thing too pretty much. Why else would it be there other than to remind your 'surprise adopted' new resident of their place in the system? There's definitely a message being sent over here. Power is everything buddy, and you got none here, these are the facts. I've also seen some theorizing over the missing words in the mural, with {“Ili muhar ninta ura”} being theorized as meaning {“the purity cleanses us”}. There's many ways you could take this as - especially with us lacking the other sentence's translation as well. But a few takes on it are: - With no Thoha tribe, the Chozo are 'back to being closer to their roots' - With the elimination of the weaker members of Chozo, this has now strengthened their overall average capabilities - The Thoha brought a 'bad name' to the Chozo by being unable to handle things on their own - or to fight to defend themselves - therefor getting rid of them was the rightful thing to do. Failure is not tolerated - The less tribes there are to carry the name of the Chozo, the better. A potential goal of making the Mawkin tribe the only existing tribe of Chozo perhaps? - It's an overall threat directed at Quiet Robe, reminding him of how capable and potentially willing they are to get rid of him if he doesn't comply or make himself useful. That or it's simply meant as an insult to show just how little they care about the stuff that happened. They'll make murals, yes, but only so you can feel like a loser. Fun stuff, certainly. I'm sure he'll love this. I certainly can't lie when I assume that the most likely candidate to who had the mural made in the first place is Raven Beak. He seems like just the type of guy to do it too. Just makes sense with how the mural is laid out. Hold him in high-regard, remember the downfall of his opposers, annoy RB and you end up like they did. Sure the trip to SR388 didn't exactly go quite as planned. There are no Metroids and instead their gelatinous X Parasite snacks snuck onto their ships with them. Sounds like a failed operation to me - and RB I'd assume does not like this, so the focal point and 'what happened' weight is placed on something else, aka the 'cleansing'. And yeah, I'm going to go with the fact that the mural was commissioned. RB would have been a bit too busy with all his things to make it himself (he might be all powerful, but come on, it's more likely that there's a Mawkin that was specifically trained to do these murals, or one who is skilled/very capable at making them) I mean yeah sure, the idea of RB being the one to carve it and all that is pretty hilarious, I won't lie, but it just seems unlikely. And QR making it seems equally unlikely, more so even. Sure he could be crafty and he'd probably have had time to make it during his - however long - stay on ZDR, but honestly, would he be so masochistic as to carve up a memorial of one of the most traumatizing events of his life? And to have it be situated so close to where he stays too? ...... I mean Maybe? Maybe he is just that destroyed and distraught (the poor man, seriously) but my main counterpoint to this is to bring up that stylistically this mural is very similar to the other murals we can see on ZDR, which leads me to think they were made by someone who has lived on the planet for longer than QR has. Mimicking a style is possible, but to do it so flawlessly and with no traceable failed training attempts anywhere? Yeah I'm just gonna say it was the handwork of a professional who has done it before. Next up, we got the question on when was this mural created? Because of course making something like this is going to take time to get done. I got a few points of view for this one too, but I'll go over the one I see as the more likely one first. - It was made after the massacre, during the X Parasite crisis. * There would certainly be a lot of Mawkin around still, likely including some that are trained in making murals. Also it's just going to be one big petty move to make time to create something like this among all the chaos. * everyone is busy trying to hold back the X Parasites, guarding Elun and working on stuff. It's a time of crisis, and assuming RB is the main fueling reason for the creation of this art piece, here he is, commissioning murals to intimidate a dude he doesn't like the attitude of. Sounds pretty dang petty to me. - It was made before going to SR388, and was already planned. * I dunno about this one chief, since if RB planned on just killing the Thoha, why not do it right away? Why wait until the creation of the seals to block anyone's access to the Metroids he so clearly seeks? I've written up my share on this whole thing, and am working on cleaning up the text and making it onto a proper story bit so I could post it - but in summary, I'm thinking RB was more looking to negotiate over the Metroids (instead of planning a genocide from the start). They're a grand (actually decent) invention made by the Thoha, he wants his share of it & the Aeoion energy/technology & his plan is to use the fact that he lent his soldiers to their aid as a way of getting a payment of sorts in return, like 'we did our part, now you do yours', and if the Thoha refuse they can always be overwhelmed (both with numbers and the fact they really ain't gonna fight back that much). But then they use the negotiation bait on him to try and get things to go their way. They do have things RB wants, and while he was ready to negotiate, he's not satisfied with how things have turned out, and he certainly isn't taking their plan of blowing up SR388 all that well = change of plans, screw this, screw you and screw your attempts at trying to best me. How dare you think you could order me around or place demands on Me. RIP all Thoha except for QR. I'm the one who makes the rules here. The one with the final say. * RB might have been ready to take drastic measures, I mean, he did bring a huge army with him, big enough to deal with the thread of Metroids quite handily as there's still a grand mass of troops left even after the slaughter of the Thoha tribe. But the Thoha aren't exactly grand opponents, they don't really fight back (or they'd be fighting themselves through biology). But yeah. I don't think genocide was in the menu for him on that day, until he realized he did not like the other options on the list. * If it really was being made earlier, there'd have to have been a lot of edits made + it would have simply been about the Mawkin helping the Thoha tribe. And while this could be possible, the mural plan would need to be heavily changed prior its finalization, so it'd lead to it being worked on and potentially finished during the X chaos regardless (there's no huge style changes to take note of, so we can assume the work was done by the same maker/s throughout) - It was made after the X Parasites have been sealed away in Elun. * Referring back to the idea from earlier. Yeah. This scenario would pretty much forcefully mean that the maker would have to be either RB or QR, and I just don't see either of these as likely as the professional mural maker so yeah. Of course, you're free to believe in what you want to, it's just not my personal pick out of the 3. *********** But that's where I'm gonna leave and conclude it for now xD That's plenty of overthinking. A full essay/short-story's worth of it
I'm nerding out about murals today. Strap in. Also, there are spoilers for Metroid Dread in this post.

The Ferenia EMMI zone mural makes use of hierarchic scale to assist in delivering a narrative. Hierarchic scale is a concept that is used to indicate what is most important in a work. It's a common element in ancient Egyptian relief (i.e. the Palette of Narmer), the style of which the art team drew inspiration from when designing the artistic flourishes around ZDR.
Raven Beak isn't just the biggest element on this wall because he's the tallest of the warriors irl, he's the largest because he's the most important person on the canvas. He's the leader of the tribe and the strongest of their warriors. He leads the Mawkin to glory. He's also central to the story being told in the mural: surrounded by his soldiers, Raven Beak slaughters the team of Thoha researchers situated on SR388, leaving naught but a single prisoner alive.
Second order of business: translations.
The first bit of text just to the right of Raven Beak says "hadar sen olmen" (Power is everything).
The text below the soldiers to the right of Raven Beak's legs says "Ili muhar ninta ura" (The ? ? us).
The text above the dying Thoha says "Ura menke uramahar turuki rupha" ("We ? our ? ?").
Next, I'm going to walk through the imagery on the mural. The intention with this section is not to hold your hand and make sure you understand the pictures; you probably put two and two together when you saw the mural in-game the first time around, and Quiet Robe gave you the lay of the land with his speech not long after. If you've played the game, you know what the mural is conveying. No, the point of this section is to flex the muscle in my brain that's responsible for artistic analysis, because I'm a slut for symbolism and I enjoy interpreting what things mean in art and explaining how the combined elements contribute to the composition.
I've left a gift for you beneath the boring artistic analysis portion of the post, but I also put the boring part beneath a read more so I don't destroy your dashboard.

No-one asked for them all in one place, but here ya go~~ All the speedies Same armor, color and shape for everyone? For a unified army kinda look that’d make sense? And for them all to end up looking somewhat similar after years of existence and bird breeds mixing in with each other? Mmmmm naaah. Character designing is my passion But honestly though, there’s simply so many cool birds and ideas out there it’s a shame to not be able to get to use all of them, regardless of if it makes sense or not to have them (Swallows, Hummingbirds, Blue Jay, Pheasant birds of any sort, Ptarmigan, Kingfisher, etc, etc, etc. Even my favourite bird Northern Lapwing I didn’t get to use, F Mega, but hey!) And I like giving every character a little personal touch of their own, so different armor shapes and shades it is! And even if the stuff is fresh and wasn’t posted that long ago, I’ll link them all here for convenience’s sake Gilded Helm / Proud Gambit ***** Valiant Crest / Red Throat ***** White Crow  / Bright Claw ***** Hawk Talon / Nimble Rogue / Copper Arrow ***** Swift Edge / Ebony Lark / Soot Rook

And the last 3! Aaaaaah, oh boy These fellas don’t have as much to themselves as the earlier ones, but there’s still story relevance even if they’re not that closely tied to previously mentioned characters. There are connections, yes, but less to talk about as a whole
Swift Edge - He/Him - Idea from some of the 100% completion pics African Grey Parrot inspired in looks He short, further so due to a slightly hunched over posture Swift is the roundest of the Mawkin included in this listing. He’s just as combat capable as all the rest, but his main focus is in lifting things. He may be short, but comparatively to other Mawkin he can lift quite a lot of weight and that’s really admirable. He’s not that much into fighting overall and prefers to use his energy in carrying and moving things around. Also quite durable, man might not have a shield, but he can take all sorts of hits and is seemingly resistant to damage and ready to get back to lifting things pretty swiftly, meaning he seemingly recovers rather quickly too. Some might call him lazy, and perhaps he is a bit lazy, but mostly he’s just docile and takes after his general - that being White Crow as he is part of White’s unit. A long time member of it in fact, almost the second in command in a way. Swift Edge is decades younger in comparison to White Crow, but past that there’s a bit of an age gap between the two and the rest in the unit. Swift hasn’t sought to promote to a Red Armor, he can help with things but doesn’t necessarily like the pressure of responsibility, so he’s satisfied where he is ~~~~~~~~~ Ebony Lark - She/Her - Fully original Based on the Magpie Lark & Maghreb Magpie (for the bits of purple) One of the shortest Mawkin around Ebony Lark isn’t exactly the most social of the bunch and prefers to keep to herself. She’s just not that interested in spending time with others and would rather focus on other things. Her main job is taking care of artistic elements. Sculpting, carving, detailing... She has a bit of knowledge in fabrics too, but her main forte lays elsewhere. If you need a mural made or someone to craft up the smaller parts of statues, she’s the Mawkin for the job. Diligent and sharp-eyed, she’s devoted to her craft, does her job and that’s enough for her. She can be a bit picky when it comes to materials though, but usually she’ll make just about anything work if needed. ~~~~~~~~~ Soot Rook - He/Him -  Inspiration from a 100% completion pic again Honestly he’s a mess. Gray Catbird might be a stretch, but it’s something (There’s a better explanation as to why he’s a mess at the bottom xD) As average in height as they get Also a member of White Crow’s unit, he’s the newest member and somewhat of a rookie in comparison to the other members. There are other fresh additions to the team too, but Soot Rook is the latest addition. He may not be as experienced as others, but he sure is eager to take part and prove himself. Occasionally he gets a bit nervous and might lock up if overwhelmed, but he’s trying his best and the other members of the unit are fairly supportive - though there’s a limit to everything. And while Soot hasn’t necessarily ever annoyed any Mawkin in the team, he does hope to not risk getting on anyone’s nerves if their patience is being tested already. He does have a habit of being a little unlucky though, and he can occasionally appear a bit clumsy too, but he has good manners and usually a proper apology is all it takes to get past that Little bonus: He used to have. So many potential different variants and versions. First based on the Iberian Magpie and Sardinian Warbler kinda, as well as the Pied Wheatear and I loved these, but boi. They just didn’t have the right feeling to them so I had to pass up on them :C I eventually just pretty much had to go make stuff up to try and get the vibe right. The middle one here is the closest to feeling like what I wanted, but also it just reminds me if a discount Raven Beak xD If the little blue line was dark and he had a more prominent light beak... Uh oh. Rawr’n Bark (and the discount Thoha, Bath Robe) I really like the first and last ones though, but we already got so many fellas fighting for screentime in the writing I don’t think I’ll be able to use the designs through crafting new characters. The creative pain

Aaaand I’ve managed to make the speedy things for all Chozo I’ve crafted - well, the Mawkin at least. I have 2 Thoha Chozo too, but currently I’m unsure on whether I’ll make a thing like this for them too That being said though! We got the Silver Armor fellas, the ‘mostly just row soldiers with some extra tasks here and there’ kinda Chozo As is tradition, there’s gonna be text on each - but one of them is going to definitely overshadow the other two with the amount
Hawk Talon - She/Her - Based on the soldier you fight in Ghavoran Patterns inspired by the Osprey & a bit of Crested Hawk-Eagle  (originally she was going to look more like a Harpy Eagle, but that didn’t quite translate nicely enough) Average-ish in height, but towards the lower end of it (She’s just about as tall as Quiet Robe, a few feathers taller than him though) Hawk Talon, similarly to her brother Valiant Crest, is fairly dutiful Mawkin - although she's a lot bolder and sassier than he is. They both have their calmness, but if one of them is to speak up about something it's going to be Hawk. While there's still calmness and she does get along with others quite well, Hawk isn't afraid of being a bit blunt here and there. Sometimes it was required in their childhood, and apologizing for everything and taking the blame of others just to gain good graces from the rest simply wouldn't do. She is a team player, even with the overall competitiveness going around. There's a time and place for everything, and most of the time if the group works together it's far easier to achieve the task at hand. That of course requires for the other members to willingly be on it together, or else she'll just take care of things on her own, being more than capable of doing so in plenty of cases. That leads us to her independence though - which she has plenty. Hawk completes her tasks pretty quickly, and what she does she does well. Nothing to complain about there, but after that, it's not uncommon for her to wave to the others and be off on her little solo adventures. Hawk might be very proper on the outside, but she has a big soft spot when it come to wildlife. Any amount of time she can spend outside or observing different creatures she'll take, it's like a hobby of hers. Whereas some might wish for her to put her extra time towards making it to a higher rank, becoming stronger and what not, (they're afraid she's wasting her potential, as she likely could have promoted to a Red Armor ages ago. Simply enough though, she doesn't seek the extra work or responsibility, as) she prefers to instead spend it in Ghavoran, Burenia, etc. Ghavoran really is her favourite place to be, she could spend hours in there. It's a hobby of hers to keep an eye on things there, as well as it is simply a place she finds to be soothing and like a secondary home of sorts. Outside of regular tasks, Hawk Talon is usually the one asked to gather different materials and ingredients from within Ghavoran. She tends to spend so much time in there that green stains on her armor are almost a mainstay part of it at this point (although she does run maintenance on it fairly regularly and won't show up covered in moss to important gatherings). Other examples on how you know she spends a lot of time in the more natural environment are her ability to traverse through it with ease and remaining agile all the way through (they have to set up fixed paths to those racing through the area just so she doesn't simply make her own path and make it to the finish line in half the intended time) and, of course, as many have reported, it isn't uncommon for anyone to be greeted by a herd of deer upon entering Ghavoran through the elevator or the trams. It might be a bit of a bad habit of hers, but she can't stop herself from feeding the deer. And yes, she has brought a deer to the living quarters, a handful of times. She does it a bit less now though as she has grown older and realizes they're fine on their own and that she can pretty much go see them whenever - but prior to that she was simply really determined in keeping one or two just because she cared for them so much and didn’t want the injured ones to die while she was gone or anything. ~~~~~~~~~ Nimble Rogue - She/They - Completely original, not based on any existing material Overall she’s got traits from all peafowl. I was trying to go for the Green Peafowl look at first, but couldn’t get it to look the way I wanted to, so I tried with the Indian Peafowl instead and that one worked better (and no we do not care about the different looks based on gender, we are free C:< If you wanna make a headcanon of your own from there, feel free lol) She’s at the taller end of Chozo They work mainly as a scout/messenger of sorts. Capable as a soldier and what not, one of their main things is very much living up to the ‘nimble’ in their name. Attentive, alert, quick reflexes... Yeah it’s a bit cliche that this is the case, but sometimes that just happens. Occasionally i might come as a bit of a surprise that she is as fast as she is, especially with her height being on the taller side, but that can simply factor in her longer strides. She may not have wings, but with the way she moves you could almost call it gliding in a way. Nimble has an overall open and friendly personality, she’s quite humorous and her first reaction to stress is to try and humor it as she prefers to take things lightly and not to be slowed down by worrying or foul mood. Overall she kinda prefers to avoid conflict wherever possible, but responsibilities are responsibilities (otherwise she’d be the quickest to flee the scene with an ‘adios’ whenever things got tough. Picking your fights is a choice, and if you don’t pick any = less trouble for you. But she does help wherever she can and doesn’t run as per the honor code the Mawkin have. Not a coward, even if they do support tactical retreats) ~~~~~~~~~ Copper Arrow - He/They - Also fully original Their looks are a mixture of Swans and the Barn Owl Somewhat on the shorter side in comparison to the other Mawkin (fairly close to Samus height still, so not that short overall) Copper Arrow mainly works as a medic or an assistant to one. Generally pretty sweet and caring, but not necessarily soft. He’s lucky that most Mawkin are fairly easy to work with. If someone is hurt they have to go get themselves fixed or they can’t do work at their full potential. Seeing blood or needles shouldn’t be making them run or hide either, so that makes Copper’s work easier and he’s generally understanding of his patients. That doesn’t stop him from being brutally honest at times though. A stupid thing done is a stupid thing, and he’ll let the patient know that sticking their arm inside a dazed Armadigger wasn’t the smartest thing to do. He’s not against calmly threatening his patients either. If telling someone you might accidentally amputate their whole arm if they keep squirming gets them to sit still then no harm done in saying such. He’s had to wrestle a couple of his patients to submission, and most of the time just knowing where to hit to subdue the Mawkin that are generally bigger than him gets the job done. Whether you’re in too much pain or embarrassment to be a bother during operation matters not, the stitches are getting sown. Most of the time Copper is a pleasant fella to be around and he has an overall calming presence to himself - his humor can be rather dark at times. Yes he likes the nice happy cute stuff too, but he’s also the kinda person to drop the ‘if there were two guys on the moon and one killed the other with a rock would that be fucked up or what’ in a casual conversation.  Also, while he is in fact skilled with the bow and arrow, his main weapon of choice is actually a halberd. The ‘Arrow’ bit in his name is more a ‘family name’ of sorts, carried by his mother’s side as a tradition that’s passed on through their children (It can mean arrow like patterns as well and not just the bow & arrow, but many of them have skills in ranged combat regardless) {{ I’m thinking of his parents being * Crescent Arrow - the mother (swan like, hunter) * Diligent Sickle - the father (owl like, potentially a ceremonial mortician, one who helps with anything related to a Chozo passing on and all that) These two have no planned looks or roles in the story, but hey! Nice extra (and coming up with names is fun (doubly so as all these words were in the list of potential parts of Copper Arrow’s name)) }}

And here’s wrapping up the Red Armor gang There’s only 4 of these guys that I’ve designed and made a character out of, but in reality there ought to be a lot more of them I see them as the platoon leaders, or simply higher ranking soldiers if not leaders. They have more experience and training behind them than the Silver Armor ones, you could call it an upgrade + you gain access to cool stuff like a shield in promotion (you’re actually decent so we’d prefer to keep you around, and trust you don’t just go off running to the center of the battlefield). Generally they’re a bit older too, but that’s not a requirement
White Crow - He/Him - Inspired by the first Red Armor Soldier in the game, the one in frozen Artaria Just a regular ol’ Crow, no tricks here Average, though at the upper edge of it White Crow has some age to him, though all things considered he’s doing very good for himself. His body functions good as new and the only things he really has that are showing his age are a few wrinkles here and there. And, well, his armor that has gotten a bit dulled with age, but that’s about it. He’s been pale his whole life, so that’s not something the age would be a factor to. White doesn’t have much of a side job, his main duty is being a general to his own unit of soldiers and he partakes in pretty much any and all activities the soldiers do (practice, training, tournaments, challenges and what have you), mostly on the sideline, but he does partake. Having lived for a long time - dating all the way back to the first generation of Chozo that were born wingless (as in completely wingless, not deformed or vestigial, he never had any of his own, but his parents did) - White has seen and experienced a lot of the Chozo history. He had a lot of expectations to carry on his shoulders since he was young, having to go through the old training routines even as he was partially unfit for them. It took a lot of work and effort, but he managed to do an impressive job all things considered. Always having to somewhat prove his worth to the Chozo with a more warrior-like mindset, just trying to fit in was a bit of a challenge at times. But he prevailed and earned a lot of respect getting as high as he did.  When the further split between the Thoha and Mawkin tribes took place, White sided with the Mawkin, his whole life had pretty much centered around fighting afterall and he saw himself not quite as well fit among the Thoha, even if a majority of them had been more supportive of this ‘new development’ of the Chozo since the start. White Crow is a very calm and patient individual. Generally discipline is big with him, and he himself will follow rules and orders given to him, whether he agrees with them or not (as long as they make sense and are preexisting, someone making something up on the spot won’t work). He’s used to it, and that’s just how things work to him. The harshness of his past though has likely played a part in how he treats others, and he’s more lenient, softer and forgiving of outliers and those who don’t follow rules as strictly as would be preferred. Compassion is his virtue. Certainly he’ll enforce rules and remind others on how things should be done, but even if you’re not perfect he’ll treat you with more patience and understanding than most Mawkin. Others generally obey and follow him out of respect and feeling like they owe him one rather than fear or enforcing of authority. He’s well earned it, and since he does still follow rules and knows where the limits are, others let his looser way of commanding go. Things will still get done, pretty well too most of the time, so it’s fine. He doesn’t care for fancy things, his armor being duller in color does not bother him, and since you can still see the red, it suffices. Function over form, as long as it still works, it’s good. White is very much immune to peer pressure. He follows rules because he wants to, and the brightness of your armor isn’t one of them. That all aside though, he’s more than capable at what he does. Others trust him, he’s reliable, and happens to also be the one general that has beaten Red Throat in combat. Certainly, he might owe at least a part of his victory to Red underestimating him and his capabilities (mostly chalking it to old age and Red’s own confidence), but the fact of the matter is that he won. White isn’t going to brag about it by any means, but it has come in handy as a back of the mind -memory when he’s had to remind Red Throat about his work and order in line a few times. ~~~~~~~~~ Bright Claw - She/Her - Fully original this time Looks inspired by the Straw-necked Ibis and a bit of Glossy Ibis as well She’s fairly tall, the neck helps a bit with that for sure She’s closer to your standard Red Armored Mawkin. All of them are soldiers, but a good handful also work other jobs. Bright Claw is an engineer, mechanic, craftsman... and works on all sorts of things, like making sure the ZDR Thermal System is functioning as it should. She’ll steer a ship here and there, and work on things like prosthetics when there’s a need for one. Speaking of prosthesis, she’s got one herself, and she’s the one who made it too. It’s not her first attempt though, it’s gone through several reworkings and models over the years. She lost the arm on a mission some centuries ago, while still being a Silver Armor. It was either her life or the arm, and she picked to lose the later one, even if it might not have been that ideal in everyone’s eyes. Some value sacrifices, others think living crippled is not worth it. Sure she was scolded by her platoon leader, but she kept her ground and made herself worthy of keeping around even with just the one arm. Later on she’d work together with the Thoha to craft herself a new functioning arm, mostly working on her own but following the guidance of more experienced makers. This kinda stuck to her and she has been rather interested in the making of new and improved prosthetics for those in need, and she’ll always speak to keep Chozo like them around. These kinds of things can be worked out, why throw a life away when there’s no need to Quite caring and easily excitable. Bright Claw is mostly pleasant to work with, but also very headstrong to get things going the way she wants for them to.

I mentioned the 2 apprentices of Gilded Helm, and here they are~ It them boys, the two dummies Again, don’t mind the quality, these are speedy We got the secretary & the attack dog As is tradition there’s going to be two of them for these split purposes. One of them is chosen by the Elite Soldier and the other is a recommendation from the rest of the Mawkin and somewhat picked by the popular vote in a sense. The Elite Soldier can pick which ever role they’re choosing the first apprentice for, and the remaining one is for the rest of the tribe to decide I’ll write up some stuff on them too - and here be mentions to the previous 2 a handful of times as well
Valiant Crest - He/They - Not based on any game enemy, but one of the Red Armored Mawkin in the Hanubia 100% completion pic The bird here is an Ornate Hawk Eagle He’s average on the height factor Valiant Crest is the more proper of the two apprentices, one who actually helps with Gilded Helm’s workload by keeping an eye on the other Mawkin, reporting back to her and helping when it comes to dealing with problems. Usually running errands, proof reading or writing notes; if Gilded Helm is having a meeting Valiant is likely outside, standing attentively and making sure no-one disturbs them. He might be a bit too focused on the work though, needs to be told to take some time off and he has a hard time thinking of anything to do when he’s on a break so to speak. Calm and patient, he seemingly has nerves for days and you’ll need to work hard to try and get him to miss-behave. Most of this patience has been built up throughout his life, having a younger sibling to look after when they lost their parents to who knows what (they weren’t that high ranking soldiers, just your everyday Silver Armors, so there was not enough attention paid to their children to actually tell them), and be the one responsible for the two of them, Valiant has had to take care of a lot of things for a few centuries at least. His sister was the one that came up with excuses and explanations for whatever they had gotten themselves into, and Valiant had to make it sound reasonable - or simply apologize on behalf of the two for the wild deer roaming around the halls. Proud Gambit is around the age of the two siblings, so he chimed in occasionally to help them get out of trouble. The three of them have been somewhat close ever since they were young, and Valiant was actually chosen as an apprentice to Gilded Helm prior to Proud’s promotion to an Elite Soldier. Proud likes to joke that he did it in order to be able to come tell Valiant to take a breather every now and then (although in reality he was challenged by the previous Elite Soldier who was feeling their position threatened and tried to knock down the competition - and then ended up on dying as a result since 99% of the time it’s kill or be killed and Proud was acting in self-defense, no mercy). And while the truth of that statement may not be an exact explanation, Valiant still appreciates the gesture and these are the rare moments where he does let a smile slip through ~~~~~~~~~ Red Throat - He/Him - The Red Soldier that dares challenge you after what happened in that cutscene in Hanubia, that’s this fella Design from the Siberian Rubythroat Funnily enough he’s fairly tall even if the design referenced is a smol borb And he did used to be a small chick funnily enough, he just ended up growing quite tall. Red is one pampered, self-centered douche bag. He has always been quite full of himself, the man has enough hubris to almost challenge Raven Beak. And to be honest, if one of the Mawkin were to challenge Raven Beak anytime soon, one of them would most certainly be Red Throat. The smidgeon of self-preservation he possesses though keeps him from trying to throw hands with their supreme leader, and he has to be satisfied with being one of the top ranked Red Armors instead - a fact he won’t let go unnoticed and will bring up time and time again as if anyone was even questioning it in the first place. He’s the kind of guy you’ll notice coming down the hall from miles away because he ain’t going to soften the sound of his proud stride in the slightest. Red is a bit more than just words though, man happens to be a prodigy when it comes to combat. He learns fast, is able to master new things with ease and even as a mere chick he’d be able to impress countless other Mawkin. Some do say that any weapon he picks up just seemingly becomes another natural part of him, and statistically speaking Red is near the top of Mawkin with the highest winning rate of all. If his attitude doesn’t command respect convincingly enough, he does have the skills to back them up. Red Throat actually has a higher win-rate % than even Proud Gambit, most of that is due to their different upbringing though; Proud has trained all his life, losing a bunch as a chick and having his opponents be way beyond his skill level just so he could learn more from them even if he’d end up losing. Red in the other hand has won practically every fight he took on. While a handful of these are times where he was challenged by others his age but far bellow in skill level, he has bested a bunch of Mawkin that were classified much more experienced than he was. In comparison to Proud’s hundred-ish early losses, Red has only lost perhaps 15 times in his entire life - A few sloppy losses to Valiant when he’s not paying enough attention - A general he underestimated and doesn’t dare challenge again out of potential embarrassment - Never been able to beat Gilded - And similarly he has never actually been able to defeat Proud, no matter how many times he challenges him. Proud’s first noticeable victory was against Red, and Red has never truly been able to get over it, even if it’s been years, centuries, and Proud sees these challenges as ‘lighthearted training’. The gap between the two’s skills has only grown throughout the years. This only serves in making Red more irritated and jealous, but at least losing to Proud isn’t embarrassing and the other will gladly accept any challenge (in hopes of Red learning something too (even if he’s never going to take it to heart)) so the one-sided rivalry keeps existing (honestly it’s only really taken seriously by Valiant and his sister, both of whom would prefer Red to stop trying). Red wishes to overthrow Proud one day and to take his place, but for now his chances in doing so have expired Whereas Valiant Crest was actually chosen by Gilded Helm, Red Throat was chosen by others. Really, there was no competition on who would be picked when looking at the overall skill of the rest of the Red Armors - ones who weren’t already in the lead of a platoon or anything (Proud Gambit was still a Silver Armor at the time, meaning he was out of consideration). Red wasn’t quite as extremely outwardly pompous back then. Yes he would brag with his achievements, but he did actually let others talk here and there, perhaps in an act of trying to seem nicer. But this event only caused for his ego to swell even further. The man holds his arrogance only when one of the big 3 is around (Raven Beak & Gilded Helm, and when Proud Gambit is around he only does this out of spite and the fact he sees Proud as competition) In fact, he’s quite acquiescent towards Gilded Helm. Perhaps respect, perhaps intimidation, potentially the fear of being demoted if he miss-behaves and she sees he’d do better as food for the Drogyga. The main point here is that you’ll get him to at least somewhat behave if you threaten you’ll report him and his behavior to Gilded (Just be sure there are other witnesses, Red has killed other Mawkin in the past to cover up for himself like this. Can’t make a report when you’re dead, and even as him reporting a quelled rebellion attempt a bit more often than every once in a while might seem suspicious to others, he gets away with a lot with this strategy). Red is also one of the only Chozo to ever having managed to make Gilded Helm feel visibly embarrassed - and for the sake of his ego he prefers to see that as an achievement and to never talk of the incident ever again. Do not accidentally call your superior ‘mom’ everyone, he has since learned to be better with his words, but it did happen

Alright alright, I can’t seem to go to sleep quite just yet So I’ll toss out some older but still equally as quickly made as most sketched up ideas of mine (And quick they are for sure lol, don’t mind the fact that the test lighting on the armor makes 0 sense, I was just trying to see what it’d look like if I did more than just the flat color) So ye, I made these a while ago, just to see what kinds of colors would be fitting for the characters - mainly I had no idea on how to manage the Golden Elite Soldier. I was pretty determined on making something for all the soldiers we fight in Dread, but I just couldn’t nail a good design for that one in specific. So I made this to try and work out a few ideas. Bro it was hard xD I can never say that the result would be perfect, can’t get my thoughts down like I’d want to, but managing something at least ok enough is pretty aight and will do for now But accompanying our Golden gal is the other Elite Soldier - that is mostly based on my personal headcanon of there being (at least) 2 of them. A lot less struggling with this one, I wonder why xD (It’s the markings, there’s little to none and) Honestly though yeah my main idea here was just that they’re really dark in color so... Bam, done and I’m happy with it I won’t be saying a lot but I can share a few words about each to those interested. Will (try and fail to) keep it brief though to not spoil anything. Just some overall stuff (lol, I am sleepy and write a lot, but ya’ll like reading stuff, yes? No harm done I hope)
Gilded Helm - She/They - Based on the Golden Elite Soldier you fight in Hanubia Design inspirations vaguely from the Yellow-headed Blackbird & Bearded Vulture (I wish I could have done more of either or but this is what we have x2 Perhaps I’ll make 1 more revision later to bring out more of one or the other) Size-wise I like to lovingly refer to her as ‘tall as heck’. Yeah after Raven Beak she’s the tallest Mawkin we see (still easily more than a head shorter though), but rank isn’t based on height of course! She’s more than capable of besting just about any of the regular soldiers in combat, you don’t need to test her (it’s unlikely you’d get a reaction out of her either. She’d just look down, at most make an expression that spells out ‘Really?’, and go on with her day without commenting further - and to some that might hurt more than getting hit physically). Her main strengths are in being the more defensively oriented one of the 2 Elite Soldiers, but that doesn’t mean she’s any less capable on the offensive side. Gilded Helm isn’t that chatty, work comes first and foremost and she’s always got a lot of things to attend to. If Raven Beak is busy she’s the one that oversees things and keeps them running. She doesn’t necessarily rule over anyone, but if she sees fit to do something she’s pretty much got the free allowance of doing so, extra permissions not required. She does have 2 apprentices who help her out with keeping things running (although one of them is occasionally the cause of a handful of reports - or perhaps both, since while one causes trouble the other is very likely to over report on any and all happenings they spot) - but I’ll write more on the two individually later! Still, it’s not an uncommon sight to see at least one of the two trailing closely behind Gilded while she’s doing her things. They may not be perfect, and she may not be the most expressive of all Chozo around, but she does care dearly for her two (absolutely dum) apprentices ~~~~~~~~~ Proud Gambit - He/Him - Based on the Soldier you fight in Elun Design based mostly on the Great-tailed Grackle And his size is also listed as ‘pretty dang tall’ He takes the role of the more offensive of the Elite Soldiers, having expertise when it comes to pretty much any weapon and hand-to-hand combat. Also he just knows where to hit, simply put, it doesn’t matter if you’re good or not if you don’t know how to use those skills - so rest assured he’s capable of slaying a Corpius with just a tree branch - or even without one. Proud's skills and knowledge are the result of a lot of training and practice. He’s hardworking and sees it only natural that he puts the long lifespan of the Chozo to good use. He's determined to learning whatever he can and a lot of other Mawkin admire or at least respect him for that Though, in the grand scale of all of Chozo timeline, he's been promoted rather recently. It's been years by now, but it still doesn't feel like that long of a time. Regardless, he makes sure to keep his skills honed and at their peak, continuing to study and experiment with new things when there’s time for that. Combat capabilities aside though, Proud Gambit is a rather pleasant fella to be around. He’s supportive, friendly and open-minded. Dude loves watching others learn and be their best selves. Despite his high rank he doesn’t mind holding casual conversations with just about anyone. He’s does make sure the Mawkin follow rules and don’t start stuff & he respects the rules and that they’re followed, but he’s much more loose on that than Gilded is. Yes he can and will be serious and you’re better off not messing around, but if he sees you doing something you shouldn’t be doing he’ll usually remark on it playfully first. You let out the Armadiggers on accident and now the whole west-wing armory is a complete mess? Boy oh boy looks like we just got a new janitor promoted, congratulations! Depending on the situation he may even help with the cleanup - or if you deserve to learn from the lesson he’ll make it deliberately harder on you. Proud is the one that knows a bit more about the rest of the soldiers on a more personal level, so if there’s things to know he probably has at least a vague idea of it. Proud doesn’t have any apprentices of his own and doesn’t seek for one either. He prefers to have time for everyone and anyone who needs it. Besides, while it would be good to have someone watching his back, he prefers to not have to worry about another fighter when in combat. He’s much more forgiving when it comes to others, but for him himself to make a mistake like letting someone get to his blindside in the first place would be unforgivable. If he is to be the pinnacle of combat capabilities then he better live up to his rank. Also as nice as he is, if he slices off your arm during a fight he won’t apologize for it later. You should instead be pretty honored and taken by the fact that he considered you a threat enough to make such a maneuver in the first place
