' she's one of my favorites , too ! i have a bunch of her comics , my friend jane reads them to me sometimes . i'm a big DC fan . ' it was easier when she could just read them herself , but jane really goes out of her way to describe the art ---- which max appreciates . ' they are . there's this , like .... temperament test , i guess it's called ? so if a dog is too reactive or easily distracted or antisocial or whatever , the group won't take them since they won't make a very good guide . she feels like it should be kind of obvious , but people can't help what freaks them out . ' her name's diana . like diana prince ? wonder woman . and yeah , she's extremely well trained . that's kind of the whole thing with guide dogs ---- they do a lot of work to make sure that they can keep their handlers safe , and part of that is being well socialized . ' a freckled hand outstretches to give the golden retriever a pat on the head . ' look . there's this place called guiding hope ---- it's a nonprofit , my aunt runs it . they spend a lot of time and effort on these little guys , and it shows . maybe you should stop by sometime . ' a brief pause before max offers something she does not usually allow . ' do you want to pet her ? she's a little slobbery sometimes but she's really sweet . and she just had a bath this morning , so your hands won't smell like dog . '

Sheldon has been afraid of dogs all of his life but something about the way the dog looks at him with her chocolate brown eyes and her --Is that a smile on her face? He feels safe. Like she won't bite him. He accepts the invitation from the woman and pats her gently on the head, then goes a bit further and starts to stroke her velvety ears before pulling away. He sniffs his hand and she was right she doesn't have that weird doggy smell that most dogs have.

"I like her name. Wonder Woman is one of my favorite superheroes." He wipes his hands off on his pants and continues to gauge the dog with curious cobalt eyes. "I could stop by sometime. Are the other dogs just as friendly?"
