Hello Aleix, I'm your secret valentine 💕and delighted to be.
I loved being able to find your blog through this dynamic, because you are the type of person I like to follow on the internet as a source of inspiration and exchange. As I see that you are about to leave this medium, I cannot consider myself anything other than really lucky to have had the opportunity to find you before you leave, so I hope to be able to know more about you soon, that you manage to find your little place in this little virtual world . I'm sorry if my messages have arrived at the wrong time, as you will notice you live a few hours in the future from where I am 😊 and I could only write to you at night, in any case I spent all day coming up with this playlist for you, with a little bit of various songs that I like them and I think you might like them. They are all about love, romantic love, brotherly love, imaginary, abstract, virtual and personal love. I also leave you as a suggestion some movies about love and links to watch them since the director of all of them has them available for free on her platform (if you don't have time to watch them all, I highly recommend you watch Tenderness, the short among all of them).
kisses and best wishes,
Mimi ❤️

omg!!!! thank u sm!!!!! i'm sorry that i'm leaving as well because you were so so nice and your messages were super heart-warming no matter when i received them ❤️❤️. i'm trying to get into movies so your suggestions are perfect, and i'll make sure to listen to the playlist as well!!! thank u very much and best wishes to you too!!

hi,
i'm leaving this tumblr account.
i feel like i can't control my social media usage so i'm just quitting cold turkey.
i've been thinking about the future i want for myself and i've realized that social media isn't there. i want to prioritize real interpersonal relationships (not to say that can't be achieved through social media, it's just that for me, it makes me waste hours of my time for scraps of interaction instead of actually talking to someone. i'm an awful texter lol) and to live my life instead of waiting to go to my room where i feel safe if i ignore the growing feeling of dread inside me.
i'll be following the advice of the book digital minimalism by cal newport and quit for a month. after that, i plan to make a new tumblr account following only people whose blog gives me food for thought, because i consider tumblr a powerful tool in that aspect.
i stayed around for the saint valentines activity because i thought i wanted to talk to more people but, being realistic, it was just an excuse to stay in here for 3+ hours a day without feeling guilty. do ask me for my discord if you want to talk to me!!! i'll stay around until the 20th of this month.
it is my intention to come back and link my new account, but i can't know what will happen the next month or if i will change my mind.
lastly, if anyone related to this i recommend them to read digital minimalism!!! it has very interesting ideas and it says everything i could say in here to motivate you but better.
best of luck to everyone with their studies!!!

This weekend I was told a story which, although I’m kind of ashamed to admit it, because holy shit is it ever obvious, is kind of blowing my mind.
A friend of a friend won a free consultation with Clinton Kelly of What Not To Wear, and she was very excited, because she has a plus-size body, and wanted some tips on how to make the most of her wardrobe in a fashion culture which deliberately puts her body at a disadvantage.
Her first question for him was this: how do celebrities make a plain white t-shirt and a pair of weekend jeans look chic?  She always assumed it was because so many celebrities have, by nature or by design, very slender frames, and because they can afford very expensive clothing.  But when she watched What Not To Wear, she noticed that women of all sizes ended up in cute clothes that really fit their bodies and looked great.  She had tried to apply some guidelines from the show into her own wardrobe, but with only mixed success.  So - what gives?
His answer was that everything you will ever see on a celebrity’s body, including their outfits when they’re out and about and they just get caught by a paparazzo, has been tailored, and the same goes for everything on What Not To Wear.  Jeans, blazers, dresses - everything right down to plain t-shirts and camisoles.  He pointed out that historically, up until the last few generations, the vast majority of people either made their own clothing or had their clothing made by tailors and seamstresses.  You had your clothing made to accommodate the measurements of your individual body, and then you moved the fuck on.  Nothing on the show or in People magazine is off the rack and unaltered.  He said that what they do is ignore the actual size numbers on the tags, find something that fits an individual’s widest place, and then have it completely altered to fit.  That’s how celebrities have jeans that magically fit them all over, and the rest of us chumps can’t ever find a pair that doesn’t gape here or ride up or slouch down or have about four yards of extra fabric here and there.
I knew that having dresses and blazers altered was probably something they were doing, but to me, having alterations done generally means having my jeans hemmed and then simply living with the fact that I will always be adjusting my clothing while I’m wearing it because I have curves from here to ya-ya, some things don’t fit right, and the world is just unfair that way.  I didn’t think that having everything tailored was something that people did.
It’s so obvious, I can’t believe I didn’t know this.  But no one ever told me.  I was told about bikini season and dieting and targeting your “problem areas” and avoiding horizontal stripes.  No one told me that Jennifer Aniston is out there wearing a bigger size of Ralph Lauren t-shirt and having it altered to fit her.
I sat there after I was told this story, and I really thought about how hard I have worked not to care about the number or the letter on the tag of my clothes, how hard I have tried to just love my body the way it is, and where I’ve succeeded and failed.  I thought about all the times I’ve stood in a fitting room and stared up at the lights and bit my lip so hard it bled, just to keep myself from crying about how nothing fits the way it’s supposed to.  No one told me that it wasn’t supposed to.  I guess I just didn’t know.  I was too busy thinking that I was the one that didn’t fit.
I thought about that, and about all the other girls and women out there whose proportions are “wrong,” who can’t find a good pair of work trousers, who can’t fill a sweater, who feel excluded and freakish and sad and frustrated because they have to go up a size, when really the size doesn’t mean anything and it never, ever did, and this is just another bullshit thing thrown in your path to make you feel shitty about yourself.
I thought about all of that, and then I thought that in elementary school, there should be a class for girls where they sit you down and tell you this stuff before you waste years of your life feeling like someone put you together wrong.
So, I have to take that and sit with it for a while.  But in the meantime, I thought perhaps I should post this, because maybe my friend, her friend, and I are the only clueless people who did not realise this, but maybe we’re not.  Maybe some of you have tried to embrace the arbitrary size you are, but still couldn’t find a cute pair of jeans, and didn’t know why.

introspective journal prompts (with some mental health sprinkled in)
I tried to make these mostly positive, but life isn't always positive.
list ways to be kind to yourself
a moment a stranger changed your life that they didn't realize
small things in the world that are beautiful
steps forward you've taken in the last week/month/year (IT IS OK IF THEY ARE SMALL)
10 things you love about yourself
10 things you look forward to
hard questions to ask yourself
what moment in time would you go back to over and over?
what really just pisses you off right now? get it out.
the soundtrack to your life right now
something you know, something you want to know, something you have learned
draw yourself, label all the parts you love.
what is something you know is harming you but still keep around? don't feel guilty, just acknowledge it and be gentle with yourself
write a dialogue with your younger self, or a letter to them
is this what you thought your five year plan would look like five years ago?
roadmap to how you got here
pick something that makes you happy; now write a recipe for it like you're baking a cake

Dear Ale:
Don't worry about the late replies, I also had a bussy weekend :) we still have time to catch up ✨ so here are your questions:
if you had a super power, which one it would be and why.
If you had to choose a place on earth to live forever based on what you've heard of it (means you never visited it) which place it would be.
If you had the chance to get to know someone, whoever it is (might me a fictional character, a historical personality or a digital friend) who it would be and why.
Your studyblr secret valentines.
hiii
i would choose reading people's minds. i just like to know, and i'm not very observant, so while i might go crazy with all that input all the time, i'd choose that.
i love my country's weather. i don't think i could live forever anywhere else. we also have free healthcare and it's a pretty good place for women and lgtb+ ppl (could be better but could be Much worse). i'm tempted to say portugal just to stay close.
i am terrible with new people but i'd choose abigail thorn from the philosophy tube channel because she's both smart And sweet so i wouldn't be like. terrified. jesus christ is a solid answer as well and my preferred one but it didn't feel that interesting to tell you. of course i want to meet god yk.

so "incubus" means someone who lies on top of something, and "succubus" means someone who lies underneath something, and the former also turns up in the word "incubate", which means to lie on top of an egg. To ensure closure we could therefore posit an analogous term "succubate", which would be something like this:
Tumblr media
he is succubating.

Hey Mr. ENTJ. Do you have any ideas on how to beat an internet addiction for someone who can spend maybe 15-20 hours a day on the internet if I wanted to? The world and my life is so ugly and stressful to me that I never want to log off and I've tried everything from alarms, friends to help me stay accountable, even turning off my router and deleting my accounts but I keep coming back again and again and again. I'm trying to discipline myself but can't stick to a routine so I'm wondering if
you had any strategy and tips for something I could stick to? I keep getting pulled back in because the internet is my calm place.
______________
No, I don't, because it's not that the internet is an amazing place to be and that's why you're on it all the time, it's that your real life is terrible and you're using the internet to cope.
You don't have an online problem-- you have an offline problem.
Sit down and be brutally honest with yourself, figure out what you're afraid of in your life (what/who you're avoiding, what's making you miserable), and create a vision for your ideal end state. Each day, invest in that plan to improve your situation little by little.
Create a life you don't need to escape from.

Dear Ale:
I've been studying software development about a year now, even tho it always been something I'm familiar with, always did a little programming for personal use :)
The question for today is: Where do you see youself in some years from now? What do you want to achieve in a near future?
- your studyblr secret valentines.
hi dear!!
sorry for the late answer, i had a busy day yesterday.
as for your question, i want to finish my degree in five years (counting this one) and land a job in my home country, preferably near my area, to get some experience and save money. then, i'd like to apply for jobs outside my country. after i get tired of that, it would be nice to go back to my home country and get a job near where my family is.
basically, i want to get good enough i can aspire to high-paying positions wherever i want to.
as for what would that job be, i'm okay with anything except the military. my dream job would be working in stuff for space exploration, or accesible prosthetics (that aren't insanely expensive i mean), or optimizing systems so they are less polluting.
not work-related, i'd like to get involved in more things, meet more people, make more friends, try out a lot of things, etcetera. experience the world fully.

I hope that today has been light for you and that this message finds you well. Today's question is about robotics. What inspired you to choose the career you do? What is it that attracts you the most? I find what you study very interesting. My relationship with technology and programming is quite recent, and robotics has gained a good portion of my feeds in recent months. Sincerely, Your Studyblr Secret Valentines. 💕
i had a subject in high school about robotics, and i just fell in love with it. it was the first time i felt my academic effort could be translated into an actual, tangible thing yk? and in my degree it has only intensified so i'm glad i chose it!
what i love the most is exactly that, knowing that at the same time i'm studying, i'm becoming a better engineer capable of understanding more and creating more. if you have been studying programming, you'll know the amazing feeling of a program finally working :D
i'm curious about your relationship with tech though. tell me more about it?

Dear Ale: I had written you a huge text detailing my experience listening to your songs, but given the character limit here, I'll have to save for later by DMs when I reveal my identity :) so for now, I want you to know that I did listened to each one of them, I saw the videos (of those that did have), and I hope that you share the playlists you made with me! I love making playlists too; And based on the first two songs, I recommend you "music when the lights go out" by the libertines ❤️
👀👀👀👀👀 i'll check it out!
i'm so glad you were so invested in the songs omg :D
here is my playlist for the year, it doesn't have all the songs yet bc i have to update it
