Random Thought:
Why is it that every time I write Tommy Miller I find myself listening to Kali Uchis. Is it just me? Like modern Tommy I can see it 🙈 or is it Gabriel Luna

Series Masterlist
Walking down the corridor from the women’s bathroom, y/n walked back to her table. The vibe of this bar was definitely a lot calmer than the club y/n was just in. On any other night, y/n preferred to just stay in with a good glass of wine and a movie, and lately she would have rather enjoyed that with the company of Tommy Miller. However, this particular Saturday night Mia wanted to introduce to her the Austin nightlife and invited her along with two of her girlfriends to a girls night. They started off at a nightclub, loud music emanating from the speakers and it was very crowded. Further into the night the group was having a fun time dancing on the floor, enjoying a few drinks, though that was cut short when a few men were getting too handsy. They left that place quickly and now the group of four now seated at a high table in a smaller, much more local bar. There was a pool table in the back corner with an old jukebox playing some random tunes. Mia’s friends went to the bar to grab the drinks and some bar food which left y/n and Mia at the table. “So, are you having fun?.” “Yeah. It’s been a while since I got all dolled up and went out.” “Yeah especially now that your time is always tied up,” MIa suggested as she threw y/n a smirk. “I know. I’ve been pulling a lot of hours at the bakery.” “That’s not what I’m talking about.” Mia quickly interrupted. “I’m referring to you spending so much of your off time with your lover boy.” “My what?” “You know who I’m referring to. He’s six feet tall, most chocolate brown eyes, and a gorgeous smile.” Y/n blushed as Mia continued. “If you’re not at the bakery you’re spending your time Tommy.” Mia wasn’t wrong.
After giving him your number, y/n and Tommy were talking almost non-stop for the past couple of months and even started hanging out more. There were nights where their phone conversations would go into the early morning. Almost every morning y/n would have a good morning text and vice versa. Tommy also memorized her work schedule to try and visit her regularly at work. He would come in early mornings before having to pick up Joel and Sarah to pick up a coffee, to which y/n memorized, and then other days he would come in the afternoon to have lunch with her. Joel would always give him a hard time and Sarah teased him about it too when he would arrive with his morning coffee. On her off days, Tommy would offer to drive her to run errands and even helped her with minor projects in her home. Other days he would even wait for her to get off work, and they would hang out at her place to watch a movie or order something to eat. One night in particular they were watching a horror movie Tommy picked out. Y/N was tucked into Tommy’s side and he in return placed his arms around her. “Why did you make me watch this?” She spoke as she looked between her fingers. Tommy let out a soft chuckle when she flinched at a jump scare as he spoke, “Sorry darlin’. I’ll protect you.” Tommy held her closer and she shifted in her position so that she was now hiding her face in his neck. Tommy shifted slightly as her breath tickled his neck. At this point he was no longer watching the movie, but instead shifted his attention to her. He enjoyed every  and any time he was able to hold her close. Oftentimes it was when they were out and about as if he was making sure people knew she was with him even though they were just friends. Just friends, he thought. He was pulled from his thoughts once the movie was done and she spoke, “I’m picking the next movie.” She got up from the couch to turn off the tv and began cleaning the containers from her coffee table. He followed behind her to clean up their mess but she quickly collided with him. He grabbed her waist to steady her but quickly realized how close they were with one another. Neither one moved until Tommy lifted his hand to tuck some of her hair behind her ear. He didn’t not remove his hand and instead tucked it under her chin. They held each other’s gaze before he started to lean in. Y/n’s was frozen in her spot and she swore she could hear it pounding. He started to lean in, closing the distance between them, and y/n could start feeling his breath tickling her lips. However, right before he closed the gap, she pulled away. “Th-th-there’s some left overs. Did you want me to pack the rest for you for lunch?” “Sure.” He stood frozen in his spot for a second as he let her waist go. Embarrassed, realizing the rejection, Tommy turned to grab his jacket. “I…uhm I think I’m gonna head out.” “Oh…um..okay..we could watch another movie or something?” “That’s alright sweetheart. We can watch it another night.” She walked after him when he got to the door and handed him the food. “I’ll call you.” He spoke. With that he took a chance and left a kiss on her cheek before he disappeared into his truck. It had been two weeks since she had seen him. He hadn’t come into the bakery and always made an excuse to see her, saying he was busy with Joel.
Mia saw how lost in her thoughts y/n was and waved her hand in front of her eyes. “Hello, earth to y/n.” “Sorry. What did you say?” “I said you’re spending all your free time with Tommy. Is there something going on between you too?” Y/N shook her head no. “Oh come on I don’t believe it.” “Even if there was, I think I blew it” she admitted. “What do you mean? You guys practically have heart eyes every time you see each other. Everyone says it.” Y/N groaned at that revelation but then explained the events of their last night together. “You guys just need to sleep together already!” “Mia!” “Well? You both clearly have feelings for each other. What’s stopping you? He’s hot, you’re hot. Honestly you guys would have cute kids.” “Mia, it's not that easy. I moved here for a fresh start.” “Yeah but you’re also entitled to have a fresh start with someone else.” “I’m just scared, terrified actually. But I’m more scared that I just pushed him away.” Look, I can't imagine what you went through, but open your eyes y/n, that man is falling for you. No guy would do all the things he’s done for you, especially in the short amount of time he’s known you. Guys also don’t wait that long, usually they move on, and that man is also too fine to be single. But from what I’ve seen, what we’ve all seen, he’s pursuing you. So cut him some slack. He’s not your ex. From what you’ve told me, Tommy is caring and the complete opposite. Do you like him?” “Y/N didn’t have to think twice on that and she nodded her head yes. “It’s hard to explain it but since I first met him I felt this instant attraction to him.” “See. You guys are meant for each other. Talk to him.” “I don’t think he wants to talk to me.” “Ask his brother for help or Sarah, she’s rooting for you guys.” “Wait Sarah knows?” “You guys are not a single bit subtle. We actually had a bet to see who would make the first move. So I owe Sarah and EMily each ten bucks.” “You guys are horrible.” “You guys made it fun.” Mia laughed and wrapped an arm around her friend. “Look. Let’s enjoy tonight and tomorrow, reach out to him.” Y/N nodded but before she could respond, the other girls got back to the table with the drinks and food. “So we got a round of shots from those gentlemen at the bar so drink up!” One said as she guided her toast to the group of men by the bar. They in turn raised their glasses before making their way to the table. “Here’s to girls night!” One of them spoke loudly. Unbeknownst that they had a spectator from across the room.
The amber liquid burned his throat as Tommy took a large gulp from his drink. It used to be his normal routine, every Saturday night he would be at this bar ordering the same drink and even most nights would get home drunk off his ass, waking up the next day with a huge hangover. That was until he met y/n. He was always trying to spend his free time with her and that really showed a “changed” Tommy as Joel put it. He was always on time for work or on time to pick up Joel and Sarah. His work with Joel improved and projects were always done in a timely manner. Joel was quick to put two and two together and even comment on his “changed” demeanor. He tried to spend most of his time with you when he wasn’t working. He was starting to memorize all the little details about y/n the more he spent his time with her. He enjoyed the lavender scent of her hair when he was near her, and his favorite was the warm vanilla scent she had, especially after her shift from the bakery. When he was close to her he could see the small clusters of freckles on her face when the sun hit her face. He observed her face a lot, especially when learning of her tastes. He got to see how her eyes would light up at something new he showed her or when he would get her flowers because the ones she had in her home were dead. He loved that he could make her smile and wanted to keep doing that for her. One of his favorite things was how she always got his coffee to taste so perfect and followed it with a new baked treat for him when he came to see her before work. He was falling hard and fast. He was not subtle and always got teased by his brother and niece. However, since that last night he saw her, he realized as if it was one sided. Her rejection really made him question if he was good enough and he started falling back to his old ways. He felt even more horrible when he made an excuse to see her. He knew he was being harsh on her and he wanted nothing more than to be around her but his pride got in the way.
He took another swig of his drink and ordered another one when the bartender picked up his empty glass. He was seated in a corner, observing the group of women from across the room, mainly y/n. He spotted her when she first walked in and boy did he feel like he stopped breathing. She was wearing a black, mini dress that hit her mid thigh with a pair of black strappy heels. Her hair was pulled up in a messy bun and he could see the few beads of sweat that form on her neck from the Texas heat. His fingers twitched as he grasped the glass in his hand. The way she was dressed was very different from what he was used to seeing. She looked even more beautiful than what she already was. It pinged a feeling of almost jealousy as to why she was dressed that way for others to see and not just him. When she took a seat at their table her dress rose slightly and he was forced to take another gulp of his drink. What he would give to run his hands on her smooth thighs and ghost his fingers on her neck. He wanted to take her hair clip off and run his hands through her hair. He wanted her and he wanted to make her writhe under his touch. He wanted to grant her everything and yet it was as if he wasn’t allowed to touch her, which made him want her more. His thoughts were soon interrupted when he heard cheers come from the table. He observed the way one invited a group of men from the bar to their table. The gentlemen stood around and started ordering drinks again. The two other girls, who he didn’t know, were definitely more inclined in accepting the drinks. He observed y/n shake her head, to what he assumed, decline a drink from one of the men standing too close to her. He saw her get up from her seat the moment the man in question placed his hand on her shoulder. He could see she was uncomfortable because she instantly shrugged his hand off. The man then placed his hand on the small of her back, causing y/n to quickly stand. She whispered something to Mia and then walked off to the jukebox. He noticed the man move from their table over to y/n. She was stalling until the guy she was trying to create distance from met her at the jukebox, almost blocking her in. Tommy could see how the man placed his arm around her to encase her in and then moved it to her waist, gripping it to move her close to him.
Tommy’s protective instinct kicked in and quickly rose from his seat walking over to the pair, observing how uncomfortable she was being. He knew it was from the alcohol but also because of how much he cared for her.
“Please. Don’t touch me.” Y/N spoke timidly. She was able to get out of his grip but he was towering over her. “What’s the matter sweetheart? I just want to get to know you.” Sweetheart. She hated how it sounded from him. It wasn’t genuine like Tommy said it to her. When he said it he said it with an endearing tone, with meaning. The man before her tainted it. When he touched her she felt dirty. His hands were clammy and his cologne made it worse. She again tried to maneuver around him but at this point he was not budging. He encased her in, her back against the jukebox, with each arm on either side of her. He was starting to lean forward and that caused her to shut her eyes, however, nothing ended up happening. A voice she grew to enjoy sounded behind the pair. “Is there a problem here?” The man before her moved from his position and it gave her a full view of her savior. Tommy Miller, her savior, stood before them and she could have not been more relieved. She didn’t want to move in fear that it was just her imagining him until she heard the man speak up. “Excuse me?” “I asked if there was a problem?” “Look buddy this doesn’t concern you.” “It does if she’s involved.” “What are you? Her boyfriend?” The man now had his full back turned to y/n and approached Tommy. “I can see by your silence you’re not so just leave us alone.” “I’ll leave you alone but she’s coming with me. C’mon y/n.” She started to move from behind but was stopped when the man grabbed her arm roughly, causing her to stumble and almost fall to the ground. At that Tommy saw red. “Don’t touch her!” He stated as he grabbed the man by the shirt. That’s when all hell broke loose. The man threw a punch to Tommy who quickly dodged it and Tommy threw a punch at the man, hitting him straight on the nose. The man recovered quickly and threw a punch at Tommy’s jaw.   Before Tommy could land a second punch two sets of arms pulled Tommy apart and held him. The guy’s buddies held Tommy as the man got up from the floor and punched Tommy on the side of his face then his stomach. He threw another punch and Tommy ducked, causing the man to hit one of his friends holding Tommy. Tommy got out of his grasp, punched the second guy holding him, and then threw one more punch to the main guy, sending him to the floor. All the while Mia was trying to hold y/n who was trying to get near Tommy. The bouncers finally got to the scene and started to grab at Tommy when y/n got in between. “Please no. He was helping me. That guy,” she said pointing to the one on the floor with a bloody nose, “was grabbing me inappropriately. We’ll leave.” One of the bartenders then came over and spoke to the bouncers vouching for Tommy. The bouncers proceeded to escort the men out of the bar before one spoke to Tommy, “You guys gotta leave for the night.” The pair nodded and Tommy went to the bar to pay for his tab while y/n went to her group of friends. “I’m gonna go with him. I’ll text you when I get home. Sorry for ruining girls' night.” Y/N hugged her friends goodnight feeling really guilty for how the night turned out. “Don’t worry about it. We’re happy you’re okay. I’ll text you.” Y/N paid for her drinks, said her farewell, and ran after Tommy.
“Tommy! Wait!” “What’re you doing y/n. You should be with your friends.” “I came to see if you were okay.” She spoke, nervously and out of breath. “I’m fine. You can go back to them.” Wanting to stay with him, she shook her head no. “They’re going somewhere else. I’m gonna head home actually.” Before she could finish, Tommy spoke. “C’mon then I’ll take you home.” She didn’t say anything and just followed him to his truck. Once at the truck Tommy helped her in before getting in on the driver side. Neither one of them said anything on the drive back to her place. It felt truly agonizing at the uncomfortable silence and it was starting to feel like they were strangers meeting for the first time. The entire time she was trying to come up with a way to make small talk but nothing came up. Your thoughts were soon interrupted when he spoke up. “We’re here.” “Thank you for the ride.” She replied as she stared at him. Stared forward not looking at her and she let out a frustrated sigh. She unbuckled her seatbelt and quickly stepped out of the truck. She knew it was now or never. Before she closed the door she spoke, “If this is how you’re gonna act then you should have left me to fend for myself.” She didn’t give him enough time to respond because she closed his door and walked up her driveway towards her front door. “Y/N wait!” He shouted as he got out of his truck. “Y/N please. Just listen….” “Why? Give me good reason to listen to your excuse.” At this point she turned around and looked at him. It broke him because he saw her eyes glossy for the first time. “You know what Tommy just go home.” She turned back around and started fumbling with her keys. “I’m sorry! Please, I just want to know if you're okay.” “Okay? Okay? Tommy, I'm not okay. How can I be okay when the person I care about started making excuses to see me. How can I be okay when the person I care about stopped taking my calls. How can I be okay when the person I care about stopped seeing me without an explanation.” “You care about me?” “Of course I do. I was just scared because I didn’t want to ruin the friendship we were creating.” What she didn’t expect was the laugh that came out of Tommy. “Are you mocking Tommy Miller?” He didn’t speak but instead approached her and held her face in his hands. He took in how sad her eyes looked with genuine concern behind her stare. “I would never. I was laughing at how stupid of a man I am. You have no idea how good it feels to know you care for me. I always thought, no, I still think you are too good for a man like me.” He admitted as he rested his forehead against hers. She could feel his breath tickling her upper lip. She didn’t want to wait any longer and closed the gap herself. His lips were soft on hers and she felt his hands move down to her waist. She let out a soft gasp when he gave her a gentle squeeze. That allowed him to swipe his tongue on her lower lip before tangling with hers. She let out a low moan and she deepened the kiss when he brought her body flushed against his. However, he quickly pulled away with a hiss, holding his jaw. “I’m sorry..” she spoke quickly but he shook his head. “It’s not your fault sweetheart.” Sweetheart. There it was. The word she grew to enjoy every time he called her that. “It technically was my fault. You were there defending me.” She spoke softly looking up at him through her lashes. She took his hand and pulled him through her front door. “Let me patch you up.”
Once inside she discarded her shoes quickly and pulled him to her kitchen. She sat him down in her chair and she ran to her bathroom to grab her first aid kit. After retrieving her kit she began to work on the slight cut he had near his eyebrow. She started with disinfectant, which stung a bit, causing him to flinch. He wanted her closely as she worked. Some strands of hair were falling around her face and she had her tongue between her lips showing how concentrated she was. After cleaning off his face she removed herself from between his legs and walked over to her freezer. She made a makeshift ice pack with a kitchen napkin and ice cubes and walked back to stand between his legs again. This time he grabbed her waist and guided her to sit on his lap. She blushed momentarily before placing it on the side of his face. “I know it’s cold but this should help with the swelling.” “For you it’s worth it sweetheart.” He spoke with a gentle voice as he tucked some of her hair behind her ear. They sat in a comfortable silence just relishing the tender moment they were creating. Soon the cloth started to dampen as the ice was melting and she started to rise from his lap. Tommy felt cold without her in his arms and rose after her. She had her back to him and noticed a strap from her dress had fallen from her shoulder. The pads of his fingers grazed her upper arm and he noticed small goosebumps form on her skin as he guided the strap back into its spot. She let out a soft breath and tilted her head to the side. The invitation was clear and he took the opportunity to ghost a feathered kiss on the nape of her neck. She had to hold on to the edge of the sink to keep her from falling, she let out a soft moan. “Tommy.” She whispered. He placed another soft, tender kiss before guiding her to turn back around. He bent down to capture her lips again this time ignoring the pain of the bruise forming on his jawline. She let him take the lead with the kiss and both began using their hands to explore one another. He grasped her delicate hands as soon as he felt them start to unbutton his shirt. “Sweetheart…” both let out gasps for air when he pulled apart. “Yes?” The look she gave him through her half lidded eyes was enough to send him over the edge but he kept himself together. “I can’t…” Instant regret formed on his face when he saw her face fall in disappointment. “I want you. I do. Lord knows I do. Just not like this.” “Okay..” she spoke softly as she began to pull away. “Please y/n. I want to do this the right way. I want to take you out on a date first.” He spoke softly, one arm holding her waist while the other he used to tilt her chin up so she could meet his eyes. They were soft and tender. “Can I at least ask you for a favor?” “Anything sweetheart.” Can you. Can you stay with me tonight.” She looked him in the eyes and could see himself questioning the offer. “I don’t want to be alone. I'm still kinda shaken by what happened.” He gave her a sweet smile and nodded. He pulled her closer and held her for a moment. “Let me just grab my stuff from the truck.” “Okay. You can come up to my room after you lock up.” Tommy pulled away and ran out to his truck. He made it a habit to always carry an extra set of clothes after his work with Joel. He locked up his truck, followed by the front door, and made his way upstairs. The soft glow from y/n’s room came into view and he knocked to make sure she was decent. After a soft ‘come in’ he saw her coming out of her bathroom, already changed into a pair of sleep shorts that were barely peeking out of her oversized sleep shirt. “I left you an extra toothbrush on the sink for you.” He gave her a smile before stepping into her bathroom to freshen up to settle for the night she was sitting on one side of the bed when she saw him exit the bathroom and froze when he walked out with only a pair of sweats on. Boy was he built. She noticed the tan skin but continued to stare at a forming bruise near the right side of his rib cage. He grinned at her, staring before asking, “You okay there sweetheart.” She blushed and tried to cover her face with her hands. She heard his chuckle before feeling her side of the bed dip a bit. His hands grabbed hers and he placed a soft kiss on her knuckles. “Let’s get some rest.” She nodded and got under the covers with him. Turning off the lights she turned to face him and smiled. “I’m happy you stayed. I never thanked you for tonight. I’m sorry you got hurt.” “Hey, hey. None of that sweetheart.” He shifted on his back and pulled her towards him so she could lay on his chest. She was careful not to touch his bruise. She felt him place a tender kiss on her head before he spoke. “Besides, it was worth it. I got my girl.” She felt a flutter in her stomach and looked up to meet his eyes, Tommy already grinning at her. “Your girl?” She teased and he nodded. “Yup. My girl.” She shifted up and gave him a final kiss to which he returned. Once pulled apart she settled back to lay her head on his chest and both drifted into a deep slumber.
