Summary:

Daryl Dixon became a continuous presence around the Greene family two years ago when Shawn decided he would become a mechanic instead of taking over the farm. While her Daddy was less than thrilled, he was happy that the man finally decided to take a direction in his life. When her brother brought ‘that Dixon boy’ around, her father told her and Maggie that no good came from men like that. Shaggy, unkempt hair, tattoos, scars, and a motorcycle. He gave a particularly scolding look to her sister, knowing she enjoyed a bit of thrill here and there. Never would he imagine that his youngest daughter would be the one making eyes at the Dixon boy.

“Just you wait, Daryl Dixon, I’ll get all the answers I want and you’ll be the one to spill ‘em.” She vowed.

Chapter 2

“Could you teach me these things?” “What things?” “You know,” she motioned towards the car, and she could see him still questioning her. “Car things,” she stated as an explanation. “Ask y’ure brother.”  “I could, but he doesn’t exactly have time these days. Plus, you would be a better teacher.” She claimed knowing it would boost his ego a little bit. He was silent, finishing up with the tire before standing and brushing off his hands. “Fine, but don’t expect me to be goin’ easy on ya just cause y’ure the princess.”

Daryl Dixon was certainly handsome, but nothing more. Beth couldn’t even begin to imagine herself in a relationship with someone quite as annoying as him, and she was positive he felt the same.

Chapter 1

The day Shawn brought Daryl around to meet them for the first time, they were all gathered for dinner when the two burst in. Shawn quickly sat down at his spot at the table while Daryl sheepishly stood at the back door.

“Come on, take a seat.” Shawn motioned to the empty seat across from Beth as her mama quickly stood to grab another plate. “This’s Daryl, basically my boss. Man knows everything there is t’know about an engine.”

“That so,” Beth’s momma smiled as she set the plate down in front of the man. “Well, I outta thank you for takin’ him under your wing.” 

Beth let herself study the man as the three-spoke. He looked rough and soft all at the same time. There were visible scars and tattoos along his body and she could already tell his hands were calloused with years of hard work. He wore a leather vest that drew attention to his arms which were muscular and made her wonder if it was from working out or if he was naturally toned. Her eyes finally reached his, and she was startled as she found him staring back at her. His piercing blue eyes, only slightly covered by hair, bore into her own in a way that intimidated her.

Notes:

Characters in this fic are aged differently than in the show for the purposes of establishing age consistency in the story.

Beth is currently 18.

Maggie is 22.

Daryl and Shawn are both 24.

For clarification: The story begins the day Daryl is brought to the Greene house for the first time and will follow he and Beth's journey until 'present day' two years later according to the story summary.

I hope you all enjoy my first fic! It's been exciting to think up the concept and get the first chapter underway.

Well now I’m officially delusional for Ben Solo as well. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m sure someone has already mentioned this scene, but I can’t help but keep coming back to the odd conclusion that they want us to see Beth. Seeing this scene again without looking for Beth still made my eyes wander directly to her for numerous reasons.

1. She is wearing considerably brighter clothing compared to everyone else’s. And on top of that it’s quite clean and not faded like her shirt actually was by Coda.

2. The blood on her arm is a very vibrant red. Again, everything is faded in this picture. Everyone’s skin is a dull color, their clothing faded. All except Beth’s.

3. Then you have her very close to Daryl and Maggie. Main characters who are still alive and who people would be specifically looking for in a scene such as this. Then your eyes glide over to her who is a supposedly dead character who for some reason has blood on the wrong place on her body.

Many people have argued that this scene means nothing in regards to Beth being alive, that Tyreese is right next to Rick, but he’s definitely dead so that eliminates our evidence. But what they fail to perceive is that Tyreese has his ‘mark’ of how he died in this scene. The bite on his arm is clearly shown, whereas Beth’s bullet wound to the head somehow got overlooked by the crew and instead they decide to bloody the arm instead. I get it, head, arm, they’re basically the same, right? Understandable mistake. 😑

Anyway, that’s just my two cents.

I love how people use Tyreese’s burial scene as Beth’s when it is clearly not. On top of that, there was no reason to put a grave fake out scene, Tyreese’s death would have been just as shocking if they claimed it was Beth’s for the simple fact that it’s two main characters in a row. But they didn’t, for some odd reason they decided to pretend it was Beth’s. Seems highly suspicious when she is a supposedly dead character whom they decided to never give a burial.
