a small company trying a new production model is not Unchecked Capitalism looking to Exploit the Humble Proletariat Audience.

being kinda annoyed that the new episodes of a series you like are going to be behind a paywall is not the Height of Entitlement.

"people should be compensated for their art" and "I'm not paying for another fucking streaming service" are actually not opposing philosophies and you know it.

We can disagree on the decision and we should discuss it, but to act like there is a moral high ground here is so entirely unnecessary.

having a lot of mixed feelings about watchers new ✨business decision✨, I think part of watchers charm was that they started out as this a small company making free content on yt with REALLY good production quality as well as Ryan and Shane‘s dynamic of course.

I feel kinda sad about the (justified) negative reaction to putting the majority of their future content behind a paywall when they already have a patreon, merch and multiple sold out live shows…your faves should never be off limits to criticism!

I think the thing that makes me sad is seeing people (mostly on twitter) being like, "fuck them their content was shit anyways" when those were the exact same people a year ago screaming about a new ghost files episode, like be fucking for real, why do we have to shit on their content, they made a shitty, read the room decision, but that changes nothing about the quality of their content.

I really hope they will address the backlash and overthink their decision :-(
