Children: experiment 2- collage

I used photos of children and colleged them together to show emotions, one effect of abandonment. I think is shows how different peoples apperences can be yet can all be emotionally effected in the same way. For children, crying is a way to get attention or when they are trying to tell you something, it’s what they know how to do so when In danger or in an uncomfortable situation it’s their natural instinct to get frustrated and be upset.

Children: Experiment one - child’s play, abandoned toys.

I found some old toys in my attick, some from when I was young and some from my mums childhood. All have been abandoned, left to collect dust and no longer cared for. I played around with different effects, changing the brightness, highlights, shadows etc to make the toys look more neglected, as a child would be. I wanted to show emotions through the toys, make you feel sad. The photos of the dolls were taken of a shop window, a place called Restauri Artistici Squatriti in Rome, it’s known as ospedale dells bambole (doll hospital). Abandoned antique dolls are repaired and given a new life. The window is filled with broken faces, limbs and bodies of dolls all pressed up against the glass. When you first pass it is very spooky and quite spine-chilling.
