A while ago I was invited to contribute to the Form the Ashes ATLA fan Zine for @recovery-zine!

I got to illustrate this double spread! (which was terrifying, thank you) Pretty sure this is where the thought "Jee survived the north" began to form for me! The theme was about the war ending, peace settling and people getting to come home and reunite with loved ones.

Kintsugi is the art of decorating your scars with pieces of Agni.

In the Fire Nation, the amount of golden marks are a sign of status. Only the Royal Family can afford to seal every single wound with Kintsugi. Such is the weight of this tradition that, among the ones with Agni's blood, it is the highest mark of dishonor to have a natural scar, for it proves you aren't worthy of the privilege.

After the Agni Kai, Ozai forbid Zuko's scar to be sealed with Kintsugi. The boy wasn't worth his title, his traditions or his pride. Zuko would be broken, but he wouldn't be beautiful. Not anymore.

(And sometimes it's easier to pretend he never was)

All the Legends received cards, candies, plush and tons more gifts from their fan on Valentine’s Day. Fuse may or may not have gotten more Bloodhound Plush than her know what’s to do with. But he totally knows what he’s gonna do with them and add them to his already huge collection

All the Legends like to watch their worlds equivalent of K-drama. It started off with Valk telling Fuse about one she was watching and the twist that happened half way thru, Fuse was interested and went home to see what all the fuss was about and ends up pulling an all nighter, Hound ask Fuse what had him up all night and Fuse goes into a 2hour long rundown of the show. Houndy ends up watching it and is hooked, they insist Mirage play the newest episode in his bar after a match, the other Legends take notice and casually start watching. Ultimately all the Legends start picking sides depending on who they think should end up together (they ship the characters hard)

While Fuse had gotten a lot of the “don’t hurt them” speech from a lot of different Legends, Bloodhound has gotten it once and it was Valk who told them that Fuse was alot more sensitive than people think , that he loves and cares for them very much, so please don’t hurt him if you can help it. Hound said they wont and that she was a good friend to him, they asked her to please continue to look out for him.

Fuse and BloodHound are actually  engaged already Fuse just doesn’t know it

In the time they have been together several people in the village have gotten married, while Hound was explaining it to Walter he would listen but would just be thinking about how much he loves to hear them talk.

When he accepted the pick from Hound he was acknowledging their engagement

Maggie thinks she can teach Artur to cuss and blame Fuse so that she can get him in trouble with Hound, but Fuse thinks he that Artur learned it from him cause he actually cusses a lot around Artur, as soon as Fuse says a “bad word” he panics and hopes Artur wasn’t listening. Meanwhile Artur knows all the cuss words cause BloodHound cusses like no one’s business when they’re alone with Artur

Bloodhound was introduced to “short shorts” after moving to the warmer climate with Walter, Loba gave it to them as a gift for the move and told them to try them on to be sure they fit. They go to the other room and change, Walter walks into the house with Valk at that point and ask where Houndy went, Loba smiles and Hound walks out at that moment wearing the shorts and asking Loba if they look okay. Walter blues screens with an open mouthed look on his face, Valk whistles and tells them they look great and Loba takes a picture of Hound checking themselves over. She gets up and slaps the photo to Fuses chest and tells him to not say she never got him anything as she grabs Valk and walks out the door.
