It’s crazy that I make more than minimum wage and it’s still only $16. That’s really not a lot of money at all. It buys so so little these days I genuinely can’t believe I net $130 before tax every day and that’s supposed to be adequate pay for breaking my body down through heavy physical labor while my manager who stands around and watches us work makes over 100k a year

#$130 is really nothing. like it’s nothing #and federal minimum wage is 7.25?! that’s $58 a day for an 8 hour shift #I think about this so so much I just can’t believe it’s real #and they’re trying to cut our hours!! #I’m trying to go back to school but I can’t reduce my work hours bc I have bills 🧍🏻

purpose of this poll: basically im wondering if my gran having a pistol was a typical american experience

#yes I have shot several guns in my lifetime #I grew up in the country #I have my FOID card now but haven’t been to the range in a long time #generally I’m of the mind that if I’m living in a police state with encroaching fascism #I want to be at least familiar with my enemies resources #and things like going to the range can help with that #with a police force as militarized as ours is I’m honestly not comfortable with full gun bans #but they are WAY too easy to get #it’s easier to buy a gun than a car and that should not be the case

When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.

I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.

One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.

The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?

The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”

I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.

It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.

#damn I’m glad my grandma didn’t get this idea #she would’ve done this for sure #and I probably would’ve had the same reaction 💀
