I've seen a lot of posts bringing attention to the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, but with a focus mainly on Turkey, so allow me to talk about Syria.
The earthquake hit several areas of Syria (Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, Hama, and Tartus) that were already devastated by war over the past 13 years. As of me writing this post, there are over 1700 people dead in Syria alone, and hundreds injured and wounded, not counting people still stuck under the rubble. I'm too emotionally drained to try to appeal to people's humanity, but please take a moment to look through the following sources of Syrian people reporting directly from Syria, and help if you can.
Syrian accounts reporting Syrian news in Engliah and Arabic:
mashrouwanabqa
mysyria_
Post with some resources to help
And some western news articles to confirm what I'm saying:
News article with campaigns and organisations to donate to
Same news and places to donate from the New York Times
And perhaps most importantly, I ask you to read up on sanctions on Syria and educate yourself on the slow, painful genocide Syrians are suffering at the hand of Western countries. No electricity, gas, or medicine reaching the Syrian people for 13 years now. No economy allowed to flourish. No hope for the Syrian people under these sanctions to survive normal every day life or a cold winter, let alone disaster of this magnitude. There's a campaign to stop the sanctions on Syria, but it's led by Syrians when we are the least able to affect this type of change. Read on it. Talk to your representatives if you can and demand for sanctions to be dropped and help put stop to this. Just look through the Syrian accounts I linked for more perspective. Thank you.

Thank GOD I’m not the only one totally outraged by the erasure of significant cultural backgrounds of the characters in VA. I mean seriously??? Wtf.
this is probably too late i'm sorry 😭 to be fair??? when you entirely cut off their cultural backgrounds from the story (especially the whole romanian mythology) the only thing book and show characters have in common is their names

That is the most grating part. Julie Plec could have saved VA and did a proper adaptation, redeeming herself as well but she just HAD to Plec it up and make it "her own" instead of what fans have been wanting for years. She honestly could have did so much better but she was just too selfish.
EXACTLY i know. like, i can't think of any other adaptation that's source of material is as almost perfect as vampire academy. we could've watched an amazing show with only just few small changes made. honestly, vampire academy books& readers deserve much much better than this.

*sarcastic voice* Absolutely shocking. Really didn't see that coming.
Maybe a better adaptation not made by Julie Plec and faithful to the base material would have taken us to at least 4 seasons. But oh well. Maybe trying a third time in 10 years will be better.

i have complicated feelings regarding the show's cancellation because 1. i disliked it so much and in my pov it had to die
but 2. the series had a second chance and they ruined it again and again and i'm so frustrated about this. this show could have been way, way better if they just put some actual effort and thought. the books were almost perfectly written but jul*e just had to get her hands on and ruin vampire academy's last chance. i'm so, so mad that we will %99 never be able to see a vampire academy adaptation again.

she does and i hate her as much as she hates us🙏🏻
Serious question: does Julie Plec hate Eastern Europeans?
Dimitri? Not Russian
Made up language instead of using a full developed language like in the books: Romanian
Rose? Maybe not even 0.5% Turkish
Romanian characters turned into full Americans.
Legit question: DOES SHE FUCKING HATE US??

just watched the vampire academy movie again to refresh my memory in order to compare it the tv series based on trailer/ rumors we have so far and let me tell you that, the movie wasn't that bad as i remembered before. casting was mostly (except zoey being white but at least she kinda resembles rose ig) on point, setting was cool, the training scenes (escpecially rose with other dhampirs) weren't awfully cringe and unrealistic and they like, stayed considarably loyal to the book.
and movie is actually fun to watch because the stakes aren't too high. like, they're not claiming that the movie is something bigger than it seems because the comedic part of the movie softens the darker tones in the storyline and you can laugh at the silly scenes without thinking too much on they're not spot on with the books. it's a fun movie, and that's what it promises. however as far as i can see with the series, just like how julie always does, she promises SO MUCH and probably will deliver nothing in return just as the usual. producers want audience to take she show so seriously but i do not have the opinion of they're putting the same amount of effort on story.

HIS MARS IS DEBILITATED IN LIBRA he enjoys art, finer things but also mentally fragile and sentimental. then again because mars is debilitated here he seeks his partner's domination in sex and relationship BUT his venus is in leo so he also LOVES spoiling his lover and making them feel like the only woman ever on earth. ALSO HE HAS BLACK MOON LILITH IN GEMINI so he feels like he is multiple people and often says most people don't understand him and IS IN BIG TROUBLE WITH WORDS AND EXPRESSING HIMSELF. MOST OF THE TIMES DOESN'T FILTER HIS WORDS AND HE DOESN'T EVEN HEAR HIMSELF.
honestly giving adrian this natal is the most freaking genius thing richelle ever did and she is not even aware of it
In case anyone wanted to know Adrian's natal chart and figure out why he is the way he is:

Rose Hathaway, please learn about the industrial miltary complex and how you as a gaurdian, you're in your world's version of it. I cannot, CANNOT hear you wah wah about "blood whores" anymore, and how they're selling their bodies! You are too, out of duty! It's a shit system all the way down, baby! No retirement package for you?! No health care?! You don't even get paid for your job! (If they do, I'm assuming it's low wages?)
Have some critical thinking skills, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

thank you so much for your addition @ladystarkov !! like you said too, the story gets it source of material directly from the romanian mythology and includes other east slavs, and like, that is the reason why most of the morois are white (except abe in the story ig but he is close to eastern europe). vampire academy is such a fresh breath as in to see eastern european people in a more desirable light rather than the horrible representations that are said above. julie is doing this- if the casting rumours are true of course- only to get extra points from the audience for the name of representation but then again we know that she will treat the poc like shit like she always does, and like it is said too- it would be better to add actual poc living in EE but sadly the whole storyline will be made with a western mindset...
i hate all these casting rumours because making lissa and the other royals not eastern european is going to change the whole dynamic of the series and like. the history of the morois, where they are originated from... even though the writer is american, they literally had a full cast of eastern europeans who are always never represented in the media. the characters backgrounds, the slav mythology had an importance in the series. hell, half of their classes was almost about eastern european history. how are they going to explain it all? are we just supposed to forget all the moroi history and believe that a random american had the surname of ivashkov? dashkov? belikov? dragomir?

So I just started re-reading Vampire Academy for the nth time, and I noticed something. In Chapter 6, when Mason tells Rose that Mia’s parents work for a Drozdov lord, he explains that he knows this because: “My uncle’s a guardian for the Drozdovs.”
Now, this phrasing is ambiguous enough that it could simply mean his uncle is a guardian for a Drozdov, and not the same one Mia’s parents work for. This seems pretty unlikely to me though. The Drozdovs are one of the larger royal families (either 4th or 7th largest according to the order of the letters Rose finds in the mall in Spokane), and given that the second smallest family (Badica) have about 200 members, that implies there are a lot of Drozdovs. So a guardian knowing the name, age and school of the daughter of the maid and gardener of one of several hundred relatives of his charge, and then relaying that information back to his nephew… yeah, that seems highly improbable. So I’m going to assume Mason meant that his uncle works for the same Drozdov family as Mia’s parents.
This is a very important detail, because in Frostbite when the Drozdovs are attacked and Mia’s mum is killed, it specifically says that all five of the family’s guardians were also killed.
Does this mean that Mason’s uncle died too? Because if so, that would cast a whole new light on his decision to recklessly hunt down the Strigoi in Spokane. It also better explains him bringing Mia along, since he’d really be able to empathise with her and her desire for revenge, and why, like Mia, he was so frustrated with Rose and the guardians for their inaction.
And if this is true, it just makes that whole situation far more tragic, because it means Mason’s mother lost both her brother and her son within the space of a week. Very possibly to the same Strigoi.
It’ll be a few days before I reach that part of Frostbite, but it’ll be interesting to read it with this new perspective. Although I doubt I’ll find much textual evidence to support it, since from memory Mason doesn’t give any indication at all that he’s just lost someone. More likely it’s one of those details that’s inconsistent between books, like Dimitri saying he has two sisters or Jill saying she’s an air user. But who knows, maybe I’ll find something that suggests it was due to an unreliable narrator rather than author error that this was never mentioned.
