(Poem) Baby Max by Krissie Schmidt

Baby Max If I had a time machine, I would surely would have found a way to save you. But if I couldn’t, I would relive every precious day. Exactly as we lived it together and I’d live them over and over again for eternity. You were a gift of love, you were the love of my life. I needed you much more than you needed me.

My tiny candle burning bright, lit up my whole world with your short life but mommy and daddy were left in the dark now nothing we do ever feels right.

I cry… at the things we could have done at the person you could have been. I feel so alone now that you’re gone but at night… I am with you when I dream and all is right again. Wish you could have stayed longer, we’ll always have a place for you.

Tiny candle burning bright, lit up my whole world with your short life but mommy and daddy were left in the dark now nothing we do ever feels right. I was proud of you the moment I met you I still brag about my amazing child not a moment went by that I didn’t appreciate you. I worried about you every second you breathed, but my world shattered when you stopped.

My tiny candle, tiny candle.

I don’t know what to do with myself, the silence in our lives is so piercing. My whole life has a void, if love could have saved you, our lives would still be full of joy.

Now my tiny candle has a tiny casket, in a tiny grave surrounded by the echoes of my humongous cries. Tiny candle please don’t leave me this way. Tummy time is important at this age to teach him how to lift his head up.

Baby Max has been alive a full four weeks! Look at all the fun we've had so far! Baby Max is a very relaxed baby and he is so much fun to deal with! He's also very smart and has very advanced motor skills. Our squishy makes our family complete.

Mommy had a dental emergency and baby Max got to hang out with his cool Aunt Katie.

Baby Max loved shopping with mama. He saw lots of friends his own age.

Because we had to wait for Max's cord to fall off, his first bath was a sponge bath, but his first real bath was in his whale tub. He likes baths better now.

This was our first trip home and the following morning. Silly daddy fell asleep with Max in his arms
