Went back to rewatch Revelations yet again (partly because I couldn't quite face the prospect of starting the block of Season 4 episodes from Beer Bad up to Pangs which, I'm sorry to say, is probably the least inspired I've been to carry on with my full rewatch to date and maybe the worst consecutive four episodes in the show up until the much derided [by me] Season 7).
And I suspect I made this point at the time, but since I've been thinking about Gwendolyn Post again recently ... she really has Faith's number this episode, for all of Faith's initial posturing that "she doesn't need a new Watcher" because her authority figures "tend to end up dead" (is this the last ever reference, even implicit, to the fact Faith's first Watcher died in front of her? I have a feeling it might be).
That scene in Faith's motel in particular is brutal, for all that it lasts barely two minutes.
I mean, I'm paraphrasing slightly here, but Mrs Post shows up uninvited in the middle of the day in order to
make it clear that she thinks Faith lives in a dump and that's exactly what she deserves and that, no, Mrs Post won't be offering her anything nicer
repeatedly imply Faith doesn't know anything about vampires or being a Slayer
suggest that if Faith isn't happy with her new Watcher it's probably because she's lazy or insolent or incompetent
insinuate that Faith can't trust Giles, who doesn't seem to know what he's doing and is up to something strange and definitely favours Buffy to her
let Faith know that "Buffy and her friends" are meeting behind Faith's back, because they aren't her friends and never will be
warn Faith that she will probably die unless she starts doing exactly what her new Watcher tells her
And how does Faith "my dead mother hits harder than that" Lehane react to this? Well, she looks at Mrs Post, thinks "is this ... a parental figure?" and says "I'm your girl."
And then, of course, Mrs Post turns out to be evil and ends up dead anyway. (As indeed will the next person Faith finds to play the part of substitute parental figure.)

Cangel Appreciation Week Day 1
Monday - Fluff
“If you had told me…. Five years ago that I’d be here, doing this, right now, I’d have called you crazy.” Cordelia smiled as she straightened up Connor’s onesie after snapping it back together and then kissed his little cheek, lifting him to her shoulder where she could feel the warm, soft weight of him. He nestled his head against her and made a soft cooing sound that sent her heart aflutter all over again.
“I mean diapers? That’s for nannies.”
“You volunteered,” Angel reminded her from where he was stretched out on the bed, watching her with something like adoration in his eyes.
She made herself look away from him to press her nose into the soft blonde wisps of Connor’s baby-fine hair.
“Well he’s our’s,” she said without thinking. “I don’t want to hand him off to some stranger… I mean, they could be dangerous, or evil. What with Wolfram and Hart always lurking around trying to get to us and all.”
“Mmm hmmm,” Angel agreed. That was a worry, but he was absolutely certain that was not why Cordelia wasn’t in a rush to pass Connor’s care off to someone else.
“Besides, teenage me didn’t know how much I’d love him.”
“Was that something teenage Cordelia thought about?” he wondered. He couldn’t picture her daydreaming about a family or babies.
“Maybe not specifically. More like in the nebulous inevitable future… the way I pictured myself marrying rich and living in a mansion in Beverly Hills. Like, that was what I was supposed to want. That was expected. A family probably came with that package, but that kind of family… like my parents. That’s not really what I want. They might as well be strangers to me.”
She sat at the foot of the bed and Angel shifted to sit beside her. He wanted to offer her comfort but she didn’t seem to need it. She’d come to terms with her parents’ failings and moved on. She didn’t want that kind of life anymore because now she knew better. He could understand that better than one might think.
“When I came to LA, I wanted to be an actress, because I knew I could only rely on myself… but I still wanted to be rich. Growing up not having to worry about money, having anything I wanted. It was hard to change my mindset after that… to have to give things up, to budget. It made me realize how much harder life is for people who don’t have that. And all the other things that can go wrong on top of it…” she trailed off. “I’m not sorry that didn’t work out. I love what we do. We help lots of people. People who really don’t have anywhere else to turn.”
“So you don’t still dream of being rich and famous?”
She smiled at him faintly, remembering that birthday dream. How lost he and the others had been without her.
Been there, done that, She thought. Can’t turn off these visions. Floating on set would probably be a problem.
But she had the opportunity to give them up. And she hadn’t.
“What about you, Angel?” she asked instead of answering. “Did you want to become a father?”
“Well, I didn’t think that would be possible since I’m a Vampire and all,” he arched a brow. “So, no. Besides, what kind of life can I give a kid?” “Don’t go bemoaning playing catch in the sunshine with him again. He’s loved and he knows it. That tops everything else.” Angel sighed. Cordelia was giving her patented ‘Don’t argue with me’ look so he just raised his hands in surrender. He did regret the things he couldn’t give his son, specifically a normal life, but there was no way to change that at the moment so there was no use brooding about it. She was the one who had taught him that life lesson.
“Dreams can change, you know.” He was startled out of his rumination as she tipped her head against his shoulder. He looked down at her, where the soft yellow light of the bedside tables washed a soft halo over the highlights in her brunette curls. He rubbed his fingers together, resisting the urge to tangle them in those strands.
“I don’t dream about being rich and famous anymore,” she said softly. “I dream about this. A moment just for us. When things are good. Where we’re happy. Where Connor is safe and loved. I dream about the future. When we’ve faced all our demons together and come out on the other side - all of us okay. Watching Connor grow up. Seeing you get the reward you’ll have earned. And then… seeing what happens next.”
He looked at her, stunned. His fingers had found their way into her hair after all, but she hadn’t shrugged him away. Connor was drooling on her shoulder, asleep. She didn’t complain. Her eyes met his, dark and liquid-shining in the low light. If his heart was beating it might have tripped staccato.
She cupped the side of his face with her free hand and smiled. Permission, perhaps. He took it as so, leaning in slightly to close the scant distance between them. She tilted her own head, eyes fluttering shut as his lips whispered softly over her’s. The kiss featherlight and testing. His fingers tightened in her hair as he tipped her head further back. She parted her lips on a soft gasp as the kiss changed from hesitant to bold. She clutched at his shoulder, her knee pressing into his thigh as they both shifted closer.
Connor stirred, flailing out with his arms and legs. One tiny fist smashed into Angel’s nose and the vampire reeled back more out of surprise than any pain.
He rubbed at his face, blinking at Cordelia who was biting down on her lower lip against a giggle. He couldn’t help but smile back, affection warming his gaze.
“You know what Cordy?” he asked. “I have the same dream.”

rewatched Inventing Anna and had to make this:
Tumblr media
"The whole summer it was, like, the worst heat wave. So it's about a hundred and eighteen degrees and I'm sleeping without a stitch on. And all of a sudden, I hear this screaming from outside. So I go tearing out, stark nude, and this church bus has broke down, and there's these three vamps feasting on half the Baptists in South Boston. So I waste the vamps, and the preacher comes up, and he's hugging me like there's no tomorrow, when all of a sudden, the cops pull up and they arrested us both." - Faith in 3x03 Faith Hope and Trick

I don't even dislike Riley! He's got about four episodes that are form an actual excellent arc! Going from "Soldier Boy" to "I'm an Anarchist" is good character development!
Then every other episode he's in, he's less good. But "Buffy slayed the football" is pretty funny.
It's kind of funny to me how, at least on here, Faith is treated as more of a love interest to Buffy than Riley. You know the guy who was her boyfriend for like two seasons? He's fine I guess anyway want to hear about how that one time Buffy stabbed Faith was a metaphor for sex?

Fun fact! This was also the knife that Shinzon used in Star Trek Nemesis.

“Weapons often reflect the character who uses them. A knife is a weapon where you need to be face to face with your enemy in order to kill them. It’s a much more direct weapon.”
