in my self-indulgent daydreams, the ones aren't fantastical flights of epic escapism but a much gentler fantasy of finding a part-time job that pays me £40k or being able to afford top surgery, i'm ok with being wrong.

i've never met anyone cooler than people who are unembarrassed about admitting their wrongness. and i don't mean performing grand ideological u-turns in the face of previously unforeseen logic (although also, very good), i mean like when they share a fun fact or answer a trivia question or a question at work and it turns out they're wrong and they laugh and say 'really? my bad! i wonder where i picked that up from. that's interesting though, can you tell me more?'

the confidence. the self-assurance. the total lack of built-in shame that comes from only ever being praised for Getting Things Right growing up.

i want to be that person. i'm working on it, but i've been working on it for over a decade. still that response: the tension, the shame, the embarrassment, the desire to deny or talk my way out of it or show that i was right in some way, technically, at least a bit. it's hard to unlearn! but one day i'll get there. one day i'll do a little fuck up and laugh and say 'whoops! you're right!' without having to force it or pause for a long time first to mentally shove all my other responses out of the way first.

and then i'll be Cool™. and i'll find something else to daydream about.

p.s.: i took some artistic liberties, mainly handcanon-ing that gideon has a ton of freckles because she is a ginger also, i know the face paint is suppose to be black and white but i don't really enjoy working with greys so i went with that kind of hybrid purple/grape/desaturated magenta/wine grey colour instead which felt like a good alternative, sorry if it is sacrilegious to some
