LET GRANTAIRE BE UGLY, and not just some watered down version of what you think is conventionally physically unattractive. Stop treating Grantaire’s alcoholism like a punchline. I want to see Grantaire broken down, ashamed, and sick. I want there to be representation of what alcoholism actually does to people. Give me the Grantaire that pisses himself, and throws up. Give me the Grantaire that says “if I drink tonight then I just won’t drink this weekend” and ends up drinking on the weekend anyway. Give me the Grantaire that hides his alcohol in crumbled up water bottles and hollowed out jello cups and aspirin bottles. Give me the Grantaire that attempts to drink hand sanitizer because he’s so desperate. Dare I say give me the Grantaire that drives while drunk and has the nerve to joke about it saying things like “I actually drive better when I’m drunk” and give me the Grantaire where that’s actually TRUE because that’s his most calm state. Give me the Grantaire that can’t paint without alcohol because his hands get too shaky, give me the Grantaire who tells himself he can’t quit because of that. Give me the Grantaire who Enjolras is actually disgusted by and not for the simple fact that he hurts his pride. Give me the Grantaire that has a red nose and sallow puffy skin and yellow eyes from what the years of alcohol abuse has done to his fucking liver and body. Give me a Grantaire that is such wasted potential, that could be an artist, a boxer, etc. but alcohol and his own cynicism holds him back. Give me Grantaire with mental health issues and trauma and flaws and not the soft misunderstood kind. LET GRANTAIRE BE UGLY!

thinking about a high school au oblivious enjolras with just the worst gaydar thinking grantaire is the only other gay person in the ABC and promising himself he won’t give into the cliche of falling for him only to whoops fall for him anyway (and everyone else was gay the whole time)

OH listen absolutely

Enjolras just pining his big heart out and convinced R flirts with him as a joke and bc he's the only other gay one

Enjolras' terrible gaydar is real and he only knows R is gay bc he has declared it to him 1000 times (inexplicably for Enj but for clear reasons to everyone else)

Enjolras being The Most Out & Proud of all gays and simply incapable of understanding that if you don't wear rainbow or flags constantly and don't announce ur queerness within 0.01 seconds of meeting someone that actually, you may still be queer

Enjolras periodically walking in on Courferre makeout sessions throughout the fic but Ferre has silly excuses he immediately believes.

(Enj and R also makeout on the regular but hey!! R has no other options so it doesn't mean anything to R, of course)

After a makeout session, Enjolras finally bravely confessing what he is sure is cringingly embarrassing to R. R immediately begins crying bc he is quite soft and has been very confused and certain it was one-sided and now Enjolras is either 1) being an asshole or 2) making his wildest dream come true

All the other gays congratulating them and giving them date ideas and Enj is like EPONINE AND COSETTE ARE DATING?? You two are dating?! You three are dating?!

I was rereading "I'm not the moon (I'm not even a star)" and I keep coming back to the way you portray Grantaire as the only person who gets past Enjolras' looks and decides he likes him Even More. I am obsessed with it

Ahhh I'm so flattered and happy you are rereading!

Like absolutely Grantaire is into Hot Angel Enjolras' looks, and never stops being awed. BUT a lot of people who are into Enjolras view the Hotness as the main reason to be into him, and for Grantaire it is the cherry on top. Enjolras is 1) socially awkward in all contexts outside of leading the club 2) a workaholic 3) comes with a menagerie of weird protective friends 4) uncompromisingly earnest and in his moral values to a fault. It is Troublesome for most people but all of those things are stuff Grantaire is Really Into. 

There have been a couple of people who see R as the least intimidating member of the menagerie and definitely not one with a chance of dating him and so approached him to try and figure out Enjolras' Deal and how to score a date. Those conversations went poorly. Mostly bc Grantaire doesn't Understand. Like he understands what they’re trying to do but doesn’t understand why they aren’t into Enjolras’ personality the way he is.

Stranger: so what is he into?

R: socialism and Marxism

Stranger: no haha I mean like romantically. Sexually.

R: yeah. Socialism and marxism. Intimacy.

Stranger: uh ok... but does he date [insert gender, physical appearance]?

R: Enjolras doesn't date a lot. There hasn’t been a theme. I just know who he wouldn’t date. *downs entire beer*

Stranger: well how about me?

R: probably *downs glass of wine* I mean. You could try it.

*ten minutes later*

Stranger: he yelled at me!

R: Nah, he didn’t yell at you, that was an Enjolras Volume Level 5. Also he thought you were trying to steal people to attend a party at the same time as his protest on Saturday, not go on a date, so that’s why he reacted like that. Reasonable.

Stranger: it’s fine. the other hot one gave me his number instead.

R: Courfeyrac’s great like that. I mean, he’s not Enjolras though? *confused face*

Stranger: thanks, see you around!

what do the numbers mean for R’s passcode the 0615

I think you're talking about R's password in I'm not the moon (I'm not even a star) and the answer is that it's a reference to when they started fake dating. June (06 month) of 2015 (15). Yes R is a sap. His background and cover photo are both Enjolras so of course his password is also Enjolras. Amnesiac!R has no idea and it means nothing to him. Enj has never been told and doesn't know (typical) but he does know that he was given R's password like 3 weeks after they began (fake) dating. Which. Many other amis know R's passwords and Enjolras was just never close enough to receive it so it WAS a lil rush of happiness for him. Also, he was expecting R to hold him at arm's length. (Esp since in the aftermath of them starting to fake date R was veeeery bitter and resistant and rebellious aka hurt and awkward and vulnerable). But even in that awkwardness! R gave him his password and started letting him into his life. Enj would never abuse access so he didn't snoop. (Though if he had some misunderstandings might have cleared sooner.)

Anyway, Enj associates the password with a level of trust and honesty he didn't expect from Grantaire at a delicate time. He's having flashbacks. Like flashbacks of both early days (opening the phone and getting maps and going thru R's music in the car) and later days (texting JBM for R because R is too comfortable while they're cuddling to do it himself).

This is a much more extensive answer than what you were asking but tl;dr R is a sap

there was a modern au fic i remember reading a while ago, about them in pride, and grantaire got in one knee and proposed? it was supposed to be a joke (i think) but then their pic went super viral and they had to do a fake/pretend relationship. AND THEN (spoiler alert) grantaire got amnesia, and the story started there.

it was so good, but 2-am me forgot to bookmark it!
