It’s been a long time since I updated the progress of the paper koi lanterns but I’m happy to announce that the final design tweaks are complete! Even though the final koi looks the same in photos, I actually made a lot of changes to make the assembly process easier and fixed up issues such as the fins falling out of place over time, and a slightly uneven body. Those are all fixed!
I had design block on how to tackle the changes so in the end I stepped away from it to clear my mind, hence the long lack of updates. I also tested new materials such as thicker metallic cardstock which holds the body shape better, and translucent vellum paper for the fins.
I’ll be putting up a Kickstarter in 2019 there will be lots of options for color, materials, patterns, etc so you can mix and match your perfect light up koi pond! :)
