So this drawing might not make a lot of sense to people who aren't familiar with the Dragon Age video games, but I'm a fan and I was inspired. What can I say, a fantasy universe works well for this prequel ship. (Also I think the conversation came up among other QuiObi shippers on Discord??) Anyway, time for the codex: Obi-Wan is a mage who has recently left the Fereldan Circle because being held semi-prisoner by the Templars was getting pretty uncomfortable. He's not technically an apostate because he has gone through his Harrowing, but most people aren't very good about acknowledging the difference. He teams up with Qui-Gon who is half-Qunari, half-human. This means Qui-Gon is bigger than humans (though probably a bit small for a full Qunari), with horns and white hair. Unlike a Qunari, he does have some facial hair and his skin is less metallic looking. He's actually quite a gentle person but the average Fereldan is terrified of this 'demon giant' and most Qunari wouldn't think much of him either. Obviously, Obi-Wan is a much better judge of character and they work very well together. And fall in love, of course.
I leaned pretty heavily on picture references this time, especially since I haven't played DA for a while and had to do some research! I based Qui-Gon's look off a typical Qunari, except that his body paint does not show any Qun-related symbols because Qui-Gon is a Vashoth and he's never known the Qun. Obi-Wan wears robes that are similar to a Fereldan Circle mage's, but his belt (hidden by his arm, sorry) is a Tevinter Imperium style, the robes are split in the front and he wears trousers underneath for ease of movement, and his sleeves end at the elbow. He also wears a hood (regrettably, it's hard to see in this drawing). There are also dozens of different staffs in the games (probably hundreds), so I just made up my own look for that, with a nod to his lightsaber.
This drawing was a lot of fun, and I'm happy to enter it in the Jinnobi Challenge which is running all of August. See @infinitejedilove for any information about the challenge, if you want to enter!

I really loved this! Beautiful imagery and the fantasy setting is so fitting somehow. Your writing is my favorite, but then I am biased, lol.
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Star Wars - All Media Types Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi Characters: Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi Additional Tags: Royalty AU, Fantasy AU, reference to political alliances but not really relevant, romantic but not overtly sexual scene, Devotion, Qui-Gon has a mysterious past, vignette., Love, Obi-Wan is a good king, Jinnobi Challenge 2022 Summary:
Over the years, there had been many that had spoken honeyed words to him within the court, sweet flattery that were no more than barely concealed endeavors to gain influence. Obi-Wan had always disregarded it, as he had all attempts to pursue him, but the moment Qui-Gon had ridden, mud splattered and weary, through the palace gates, entirely sincere in his power and kindness, Obi-Wan had wanted nothing more than to have the man at his side.

Art Nouveau Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon
I've wanted to do an Art Nouveau Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon piece for a long time, and I thought this year's Jinnobi Challenge (August 1- 31) would be a great opportunity to attempt it. My concept for it was originally much more complicated but I decided to simplify it, blending my own style with some of the recurring visual elements of Alphonse Mucha's famous posters.
I put a lot of thought into the halo design and what type of imagery I wanted, with Qui-Gon's halo having a border of leaves, each forming a star shape. The thistles on Obi-Wan's halo are similar to the Jedi crest. I also exaggerated the length of Obi-Wan's padawan braid and Qui-Gon's hair, doing my best to emphasize the swirling shape of the hair. As a result, I think both Jedi came out quite pretty and serene looking, and this might my favorite drawing of them to date.

Still 2 days left!
Hello all! Just a quick reminder that the Jinnobi Challenge is still going on! For those of you who have writing fatigue right now from all the amazing prompt challenges out there, never fear, if you’ve done something qui-gon/obi-wan that’s a complete work and posted it in October than you can probably tag it Jinnobi Challenge 2021 and enter it into the challenge and get a chance to win a really cool big poster of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. You want their faces on your wall, right? You want to be part of an annual challenge that exists to provide beautiful quiobi content, right? Well if you do, all you have to do is check the rules and FAQ here. (there’s not many rules, I promise), tag your work(s) Jinnobi Challenge 2021 and message me on here to let me know you entered, so that I can put your work(s) on the master list!
For those of you finishing up projects, the challenge runs until October 28th, so you still have some time!

I’ll Fight Beside You
This art is for the 2021 Jinnobi Challenge and I really didn't think I would get it done in time, but here it is! Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, teaming up to face down galactic evil. I haven't made up my mind whether Qui-Gon is just in disguise or this is an AU where he never became a Jedi but decides to help out the mysterious (and very attractive) Jedi Knight who arrives on his planet.
I tend to picture Qui-Gon preferring to wear loose clothes, so I decided to deliberately go in the opposite direction with this drawing and give him a much more sleek, sci-fi look. I like the contrast it makes with with his lovely untamed mane of hair. Obi-Wan's hair was a lot of fun to draw too, and I think I succeeded at capturing that intent stare he has.
My favorite things about this drawing are: 1) it's full length so you can really see the height difference, 2) Obi-Wan's lightsaber actually looks like it's glowing, and 3) I managed to capture that pensive, almost-sad expression Qui-Gon gets.
