Like if a character actively chooses to interact with another character over and over again instead of simply ignoring them? the key difference between Sophie and the Witch of the Wastes is that Sophie sees Howl and thinks “oh cool a boytoy” and the Witch of the Wastes sees Howl and thinks “I can fix him” and that’s why the real message of DWJ’s Howl’s Moving Castle is that we should accept annoying boytoys for who they are and also maybe bully them a bit. thank you for coming to my ted talk
