The witch stared at the woman, was that an order? She wasn’t told much other then the usual, what really came down to is ‘this is war and our job is to fight’ she can only wait and see if the woman is better on the battlefield then her attitude. Why people hang on to such arrogance is beyond her.

“As...you wish.” She fully turned to face the woman. “Name...Keres. I'm here because that is... My orders. If you are the Palidan...I was told about, then all you need to do... Is tell me... Who...to kill.”

As long as the woman does her job, Keres’s will do hers. And maybe they won’t have any trouble. “I’m here as one of the... Faithful, I am not...a soldier who will... Run straight into battle. Father Duma comes first... The Emperor and his men...like you, come after. Remember that.”

She was starting to wonder if her skills alone were not impressive to the Emperor but at least she was winning her battles being set to the front lines or not.

Go on, grace me. ” Marget knew she should see the magic wielder as a gift but it was still insulting to her. That and the witches always left her feeling ‘empty’ whenever she looked upon one.  ♜

To use an example, one of the DS FEs had two teenage villains with the same backstory as criminal orphans & are equally bad. When the male dies, he gets a goofy deathquote, no one mentions him again, & the whole thing is depicted as "criminal scum getting what he deserves." When the female boss dies, she gets a long death scene, sad music, & a character accompanying her in her last moments. Basically the narrative treats them differently, despite gender being the only difference.

Fire Emblem has a fair amount of older folk as a playable units I personally think. But too often, the artists do go too crazy in making bosses look as unattractive as possible, even when it makes no sense such as how Validar & Robin look nothing alike, or how the only people that worship Grima are ugly males compared to Naga's gorgeous & unisex worshippers. Before you say Aversa, Spotpass retcons it so she was a Naga worshipper under a spell forcing her to worship Grima. 

((Now see, if the game wants you to feel bad for the girl then we should also feel bad for the boy. I don’t see why we have to treat them differently.

They had to make sure we remember that Validaris evil™ with his dark colors and long neck. I think what they’re going for is trying to make sure we can tell that the bad guys are evil, and that means ugly. And because oh no we can’t have ugly women and so we get ugly men as the bad guys. There’s probably some kind of reason behind the art as to why we always get this, but even if I’m an artist I have no idea.

And who knows maybe Grima’s milkshake brings all the boys to the yard?

And yes I know we do get some older playable units, and I like that. It’s nice to have characters of all ages really, because if there was war going on I’m pretty sure they would get anyone who could fight in the army.))

Nuibaba and Jedah were both treated as equally villainous in Echoes, which I approve of, though I do find it interesting to note, only Generic Witches get called tragic, despite generic arcanists also being made from sacrifices.

((Oh shit you’re right, those poor arcanists. They should be just as tragicas the witches, maybe even more so knowing that no one seemed to care about what happened to them. I know the Duma Faithful are messed up, but that doesn’t mean everyone in it was there on their own free will.

But yes it was nice to see them treat both Jedah and Nuibabathe same way, after all what they did (and was gonna keep doing) was wrong. They are villains and should be seen as villains.))

Yeah fire emblem could certainly use more variety in that regard. Personally I'd say awakening and fates felt like a slump in that regard, but its always been noteworthy in fire emblem that good guys are usually hot and bad guys are usually but ugly. Kinda like in most modern anime. We need more sonias or gonzales in the franchise, namely attractive women, or men, who are evil in sonias case, or really ugly men, or women, who are sweetie pies in gonzales case. Also more bad ass old farts!

((I say yes to all of this, please give me all the badass old people! The more the better.

I would actually love to see a whole army of old people saving the world from whatever dragon has gone mad this time. Like people in their 60s to I don’t know 80s? They all have grey hair, and yes they aren’t like what they used to be but dammit they’re gonna kick some ass anyway. Why make the children fight when you have all these awesome old people who probably have a better idea of what’s happening?

I would play that Fire Emblem game, I think it would be fun. It would be a change from the normal highschool aged kids save the world like we normally get in stories.))

Another thing several Fire Emblem games fall into is treating female enemies with significantly more sympathy then male enemies. I'd argue this is another case of IS forgetting almost half of the fandom is female.

((They should just let female villains be just as much a villainas male villains. Maybe even make “pretty boy” villainsif all the females are gonna be seen as “hot.” Or make the females old or “ugly” or whatever they mean to do when it comes to making the villainsin the game.

I feel like a lot of games fall into this, I don’t think they should get sympathyjust because of their gender. Also sometimes a good story just needs a good villain, and not someone we can feel bad for.))

I don't mind the new Annas, but it would be great to see the original Anna, as well as Jake appear as well.

Like I think it would've been cool if Jake was a DLC character in Fates, a Ballistician of course. He and Anna could support with the Avatar, or with eachother.

((Yeah that could have been really cool! If they did that then we could have had a little of new Anna and a little of old Anna, alongside another character who could have probably been a fun character to have in the game~

Sadly that’s probably asking too much, but that doesn’t mean we can’t dream.))

Anna's character was a cool character, he was also the first Ballistician in the series. At the very least, IS could allow Female players to support him. Both in & out of Japan, almost half of the Fire Emblem fanbase is female, but you wouldn't know that from how IS handles the series.

Anna herself also changed in Awakening. Past games presented Anna as a very whimsical and cheery character who preferred cheerful chaos over profit. She was very affectionate with Jake, another trait post Awakening wouldn't show. Finally Pre-Awakening, Anna was one singular character.

Anna has also been confirmed to have like a billion sisters that look exactly like her. So Anna's boyfriend is only THAT Anna's boyfriend and none of the others.

((Not surprising, a lot of fanbases are half (sometimes even more) female then male. But sadly not like they would ever tell anyone that...

I’m okay with the whole “Anna has sisters who all like her and also named Anna” only because it reminds me of Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny, and I always found it funny.

But it is sad that they took traits away from her character when it came to Awakening, I know she wasn’t that big of a character in the game, but that doesn’t mean she can’t be more then just the woman who loves money. If anything Anna can love money but still show other sides of her character. Not like I ever married her in the games (only ever played Awakening as female!Robin, and I’ve only played Fates as my female!Morgan for my big AU. and I never got the DLC for her) but I feel like there’s characters who always get the short end of the stick, in any game really.

Doesn’t stop me from loving Awakening and Fates, but it does sound like there is more to the money-hungry merchant then what I’ve seen.))

Anna shows up in every Fire Emblem game, but Gaiden and its remake. She also had a boyfriend until Awakening made her romancable by the male avatar at which point he disappeared without a trace.

((haha I feel kind of bad for the guy, gone all because Fire Emblem became part matchmaker/dating sim.

But yeah I noticed how Anna was in almost every game. Wonder if it was just because of how the game worked, I know Echoes doesn’t have any place to really buy stuff so a merchant wasn’t really something they needed.))

Are you familiar with all the Manakete types?

((Um, of course there’s divine... And earth! I’m pretty sure there’s earth dragons. I think I remember reading something about fire dragons? And magic? Mage? I don’t know that’s all I can remember.

So what are all the types? Because I know out of the 3 games I’ve played they never really talked much about the Manaketes.))

((So I think I finally found a faceclaim for Keres, this way I can have more icons for her as I slowly draw more...

So I’m gonna be using Yin from Darker than Black, never watched or read anything of this series. But blank facial expressions are what I’m looking for so the character fits.

I knew I would never find a character that would look like Keres, but really at this point all I care about is if I can have someway of having more icons for the witch. And even with using a faceclaim I’ll still be drawing more icons anyway, this just gives me more to work off of.))
