Since Carlos has decided to ruin his reputation this last month, I thought I would update this post I made back in 2018 explaining why he’s a bit of a fascist.

I will give some context so it’s easier to understand the spanish political climate, so this post will be quite long, sorry about that!

The political parties he mainly supports are Ciudadanos (C’s) and Partido Popular (PP). PP has always been the default conservative/right wing party in Spain, but on the recent years we’ve had a few more parties show up in the political climate, between them are C’s, which will always claim they’re a “centrist” neoliberal party, but that’s a complete lie because in the last elections they’ve decided to only make deals with conservative parties and have only positioned themselves to the right. They’ve turned into the default right wing/fash party for young people who don’t want to admit they’re sexist, racist and classist because that sounds bad, basically. C’s has also done deals with VOX, just straight up fascism, so I’ll let you make your own conclusions from that. 

How do I know he supports these parties? Cause he follows them. Oh, Trump too, btw. Las time I pointed this out I did have people tell me that “following *insert right wing politician* doesn’t mean that he agrees with them”. Fair enough, it doesn’t. But let’s be honest here, if he only follows right wing politicians, right wing newspapers (El Español) and “troll” accounts that spend every day making sexist, LGBTphobic and racist jokes (Colmenero), doesn’t that sound quite shady? He also keeps liking tweets from right wingers. 

The next thing and what, for me at least, is worst than this is how over the top nationalist/patriot he is. He has the spanish flag  E V E R Y W H E R E. Even he’s dogs have a collar with the flag.

Now, I don’t know if this is only a thing in Spain or what, but to put it simple: Using the spanish flag is the most clear sing one can see to know if someone is a fascist or not in Spain. This flag has ALWAYS been linked to fascism. I have yet to meat someone non-fascist who has the spanish flag hanged in their balconies, or wearing it as a bracelet, etc. 

You know how all the trump supporters in twitter now have the US flag emoji in their names? That’s the same in Spain but worse. 

To put two of those pics above into context:

The one where he’s posing with Fernando he got quite a lot of shit from spanish people for what I just explained. He came out to say he “didn’t have anything to be ashamed of and was proud of his country”. Right at that same time, people in Catalonia were being beaten up in the streets by the police simply because they wanted to vote for their independence. People went to jail (and still are in jail) for purely political reasons. Five men who gang raped a girl were on trial and almost got free because Spain is just like that. Is that the right time to come out and say you’re proud of your country? 

The dog picture.  All I’ll say about this one is that “Día de la Hispanidad” is Columbus Day. Ironically, I’ve also seen this day referred to as “Day of the Race/Heritage” quite a few times. 

I’ll also explain the reason why I’m updating this post now just in case there’s someone who still hasn’t caught up.

Last month Estrella Galicia did a PR “event” where they asked the athletes they sponsor to tell a funny anecdote that’s happened to them. The rest of the people just told harmless stories, but Carlos decided that his “funny” anecdote” was that one time he went to China, a friend of his recommended him to go to a chinese restaurant, but when Carlos and his team got there, this chinese restaurant, in China, was “too chinese”, unlike those you’d find in Europe. They saw a cat get inside the kitchen, but not come out again, so Carlos joked about how he thinks “they ate cat meat”. Because we all know all people in China do is eat cats and dogs. 

I also thought I’ll add a bit more info about Carlos Sainz dad because he’s worse than his son, and will just straight up associate himself with Vox, the fascist party I mentioned earlier.

They seem to have taken a liking to him, because they keep congratulating Sainz on social media when he wins something. 

Aaand I think this is everything. I might be forgetting some things, so if you know about anything else feel free to add it.

A quick education on Carlos Sainz Jr & his family;

They support the ultra right wing nationalist party vox - Vox is proudly anti feminist, anti gay marriage, wants to deport legal immigrants in Spain if they commit a single offence (anti immigration anyone??), pro Israeli government & antisemitic, extremely islamaphobic, protested the Spanish lockdown, an aggressive centralism that denies Spanish territorial, cultural, and political diversity

In 2019, Carlos Sainz jr made racist comments on a Chinese restaurant he visited whilst in Shanghai. He stated that the restaurant was “typically Chinese, too typical, too Chinese-like” (not so Europeanised) & that a cat ran from under a table into the kitchen & then never came back out, & when his meal was served he essentially was imagining that it was the cat.

Carlos Sainz Jr refused to kneel during the 2020 f1 season because “they showed how strong they all felt against racism and he felt like that was enough” & because “people wouldn’t have liked that in Spain, so he chose what’s convenient and will continue to do so”

January 2021 a video has been tweeted by the ‘Carlos Sainz Karting’ account. It shows a portrayal of The Three Wise Men & clearly exhibits blackface. The video has since been deleted without any other mention.

sorry to be insane about motorsports on main, but what trips me out every time i really think about it, is that the machines, be it cars or motorbikes, are specifically made for their pilots. and the riders/drivers are the souls of the motorbike or the car. the engineers and mechanics build these monsters of machines, in hopes it will carry their chosen and trusted pilot to glory. it is such a tender give or take.

here: we made you a machine only you can handle. its metal and engine and all my knowledge. it's hours and days spent designing something just for you, for this moment in time. nothing will be like this. i am trusting you with it.

here: i am putting my life and sanity on the line with only this thing carrying me toward the checkered flag and champagne and hopefully my name to be etched into history books, at an inhumane speed. thank you for the trust.

pilots usually name their vehicles. whenever they get to keep a world championship winner ride they get so happy. i think about how marc marquez can identify the tracks just by the sound of his engine, because he is so in tune with the bike and the tracks. i think about sebastian vettel bowing to his red bull rb9 after winning his 4th world championship. i think about valentino rossi at his retirement ceremony, before his last race, where they brought out all 9 bikes. how he looked like he still knew each of them in his bones.

how in these sports the human and the machine are inseparable, and how without each other they don't make sense.

the crazy thing is that carlos sainz isn't even a bad driver i genuinely think he's good he's not great imho but he's a reasonably good driver i have never connected with him because he's missing a spark but that's a personal opinion. i can separate that from what i see on track – which again is a good driver who has had his good moments. what's bonkers is everything that surrounds him. the amount of lies he's told in interviews (or at least let's just say he twists the truth A Lot and Very Often), the PR machine, the politicking, the disrespect for the team, the repeated out of line behavior from his family members, the victim rhetoric both from the media and from himself (which is funny bc given the trajectory of 2021 he was probably given the fairest squarest chance to prove himself in the history of ferrari drivers), the whole binotto situation, SILVERSTONE... it's just insane because it's this humongous dust cloud and then when it settles it's literally just carlos sainz jr and you're left like... all that for THAT? like if he'd just been the tiniest bit humbler and not surrounded by yes men and enablers he could've been a moderately good parenthesis in ferrari history instead he's turned into a damnatio memoriae worthy presence. sad
