Watching alien 1979 again for the million time to think again how much of a mistake was the introduction of the alien queen.

Y'see the first one has this lovecraftian/eldritch terror of the unknown, of these creatures that seemed to be born from the dark and has some horrorific closeness to human beings in their anatomy and the characters involved began to feel the paranoia of a horrible creature chasing them down and even some having the mission of bring it to earth.

Now while the sequel has the same conflict it feels like the whole horror aspect of is completely forgotten now and that is because the alien queen makes these creatures into completely normal animals, much more like a plague of rats, very hard to kill rats,and now that we have a answer of where these things came from is just.... So normal. And one can think there is horror in the simple answer of a plague parasitic space waps but idk is just the normal common fear of being bitten by a dangerous animal more than being afraid of what is in the darkness.
