I am glad that bee hummingbirds hatch nests of eggs each smaller than a pea. I am glad that there are oceans two miles deep where fishes unknown to science glow like fireflies.
I am glad that the crumbs taken from my bedroom are returned to tiny cities built by ants, and that the thunder of the storms rolling in from the north trembles in my chest when it is still a ways off. Hello, says the world, you are so little. Hello, says the world, you are so big.

i hate how embarrassing and shameful desperation feels...like looking back at more recent times in my life where I was begging for love and care and then scorning myself for needing it is so so sad to me - it's so natural and human, even if it's unhealthy at times...people arent meant to be perfect well adjusted beings and it's so stupid to wish I was always in control and respectable
like i think of my most embarrassing moments of weakness in the last 5 years where i really put myself on blast and when i wipe away all the self hate and need for control i just see me there, needing a friend and trying to be genuine with myself and i cant believe i bully that person even in the privacy of my mind

When I was a very suicidal trans activist in Texas, Benjamin Sisko saying “sure, you would [die for your people]. Dying gets you off the hook. The question is: are you willing to live for your people?” changed and possibly saved my life. It’s up there with “if we are going to be damned, let us be damned for who we really are” from Picard. Star Trek not only shows us a better world, it teaches us how to make it there

one thing i need to start living by is “become the thing that you want” if i want friends who throw themed parties maybe i should start throwing those parties. if i want someone who writes me love letters maybe i should start writing letters for the people i love. if i want to hang out at museums and pretty cafes maybe i should invite my friends to these places. and maybe even then i won’t find the kind of people i want to be around. but then i would have become the exact person i want to be around. and maybe that’s good enough.

I promise you, relationship anarchy is a good thing. Tell your friends you love them. Go on dates. Domme them. Take them to weddings. Have a relationship with the sub from the dungeon where she does your taxes or you mow his lawn. Help your neighbor plant begonias and become their honorary granddaughter. Become friends with your partner’s partners. Cuddle with your book club and talk about Polysecure or something, idk.
I don’t care. Just stop expecting every relationship to follow a specific pattern and instead find the beauty you both want in your specific relationship with that other person.
Life is more than the nuclear family and strict pseudo-Christian mythological ideals.

I know European Starlings are not everybody’s favourite in America (for good reason, and I know it is not the bird’s fault), but can we for a moment sit down and admire their most beautiful plumage?

Your sense of self isn’t a static image, bro. It’s more like a climate or a biome. Both of which can shift in gradual ways over time or suddenly due to internal or external factors. Just check the weather report, man. Don’t try to force the sky to stay blue without clouds 24/7.
