Rose's words are etched onto her right thigh. They're golden, words can be any colour but red is most common. Gold is the rarest, it's believed they symbolise love that lasts longer than you ever could. There are books written on love of the golden kind, the love of the golden kind is meant to mean eternal love. Love that lasts long after both you and your soulmate are gone.

The colour only catches Rose's attention for so long before she realises the impossibility of her words, the sadness of them too.

'I'm burning up a sun to say goodbye.' It's impossible, and it's said to her. Those are the most important words her soulmate will say to her and they are about their goodbye. She doesn't like it. It haunts her, and she fears them ever coming true.

She knows Mickey isn't her soulmate, but he's safe. He's everyday life and he's nice. Sometimes soulmates aren't reciprocated, but she knows she's not his either. They both don't care about it. Mickey doesn't even talk about his soulmark etched onto his shoulder.

The Doctor's soulmark haunts him. It was etched into his thigh, golden. It is not the placement nor colour that causes the problem, but rather the language. Etched onto his thigh is a singular word from the Earth language English, and his family hide them from everyone. He never shares his words. It would be too dangerous.

'Forever'

He's not sure what it means. But he's hopeful about it. He wonders if the reason his mark is gold is because he will surely outlive his soulmate. It is the logical answer. Some nights though he hopes it is because their love is so strong and vibrant that tales of them and it are told through out the stars.

He wants to travel them one day, help out. It's not allowed, not really, but he thinks it'd be worth it. He likes to imagine his soulmate would love it in the stars, hand in hand through time and space. Side by side. Forever.

Your soulmark glows when you find your soulmate, and it will always glow when you are next to them. That's how they realise they're meant for each other. It doesn't happen at first. They're clothes are too thick for the glow to really be noticeable. It's not until Rose and the Doctor are in thinner pajamas having breakfast in the galley after a long night that they notice the glow.

"You're thigh, it's glowing," the Doctor said dumbly. Rose looked down and saw that, yes, her thigh was in fact glowing. A faint gold light made it's way through the thin fabric of pajama bottoms, and reflected off of the counters. She glanced to his thigh, only to find it doing the same thing.

"So's yours," she pointed out. He looked down and saw the same golden light coming from his thigh.

"We're soulmates," he muttered.

"Is that alright?" Rose asked.

"I, it's more than alright," the Doctor said.

"We're gonna have to tell my mum," she said.

"But she slapped me," he complained.
