so I, obviously, haven’t been active here in ages, and as much as I hate to say it because I really wanted to keep this blog, I don’t think I can maintain having Amy Aine on her own account anymore, and I will be merging her into my multimuse once I have it up and running (sometime this month)

I will make a post here linking that blog once I do have it all set up, and I’d love to be able to maintain the relationships I’ve built here both IC and OOC, you all have made my return to the RP community amazing and I love each and every one of you

Tony had to bite his lip to keep himself from laughing out loud at his sisters reaction. It was always fun to mess with her and tell her ridicules horror stories now and then. “Amy please…Ana would never wander around the house without greeting us first.” He patted his sisters head lightly. “I’ll bring you to my room so you can hide okay? I’ll investigate whatever is up there then.” Like hell he would. It would only try and scare his sister even more. Was it mean? Most likely. But it was also fun. At least for him.

She was torn, trembling with nerves as she stared up at him. On the one hand, she certainly wanted the noise dealt with, and she certainly didn’t want to go up there herself. On the other hand, she was almost as terrified of being left down there alone. What if the noise was a trick, what if they wanted to draw her brother away so they could attack her there? But surely they couldn’t get all the way from upstairs to where she was without Tony noticing, right? “Okay,” she nodded after a moment, trying to sound brave despite the quaver in her voice.

LJS 23 - De Natura Rerum

Do you want to pass your science class? Well, maybe Thomas of Cantimpré might help! This manuscript is one of the earliest known copies of a gathering from Books VII-XX of the De Natura Rerum, a big introduction to science. There are sections on fish, insects and invertebrates, trees, cosmology and astronomy, herbs, springs, gems, wind and clouds, the four elements, stars, and eclipses. It was written in Northern France or Flanders, ca. 1250-1275 CE.

Ms. Codex 20 - [Summa dictaminis] …[etc.]

This manuscript contains the text of the Summa dictaminis of the Italian cardinal Thomas de Capua. It was written in Italy (possibly Bologna) in the 14th century; it also contains fifteen shorter works by Johannes Bondi de Aquilegia.

Manuscript Monday: LJS 242 – Basis grammatice

Dot Porter, Curator, Digital Research Services at the University of Pennsylvania Library, offers a video orientation to Penn Library’s LJS 242, Basis grammatice, by Guillaume Tardif. This manuscript was written in Paris in 1470 and it is a summary of Latin grammar arranged in 8 sections for 8 parts of speech, followed by conjugation tables for the 4 conjugations and a commentary on the summary.

         “ siblings, right? ”  she asks in a WEAK attempt at normalcy, her voice lilting up with the question, a trace of nervous laughter in her words. a quick glance in the direction of where she’d been sitting revealed an empty booth.  “ and they’re gone. of course. ”  kara huffs, but it’s all in good humor, leads amy aine to the booth, and sets down the tray of drinks. the question catches her off guard, it shouldn’t, not really, but it does, and it STARTLES her. “ i’m, uh — i’m an argoer, from argo city, ”   it’s not a lie, but it certainly won’t mean much to someone who has no idea about kryptonian geography. she wants to be honest, wants to share her truth with amy aine, but she can’t tell her that she’s kryptonian, can’t reveal she’s from the same planet as supergirl, living in the SAME city as her, not without revealing completely who she is,  “ lurvan. that… that’s where i’m from. ”   again. she’s not lying  ( she couldn’t, she loves her friend too much to be completely dishonest with her ),  but she’s being a bit more broad than just naming her city — lurvan was the STATE that she’d grown up in,  “ i lived there until i uh, until i was twelve. my parents sent me away because the planet… ”  take a deep breath kara.  the blonde grabs one of the drinks in front of her, sips it,  “ the planet’s core was unstable. ”

“Siblings,” she agrees, smiling at the familiar exasperation in Kara’s voice when the other notices the absence of her sister. Amy Aine follows her over to the booth, sliding into the seat and placing her own drink down on the table. She hadn’t been brave enough to try any of the mysteriously named alien concoctions on the menu, opting instead for beer like a good Irish girl. If she’d taken a moment to think through the question before asking it, perhaps she would have realized that the answers might make no sense to her, but instead she smiles and nods as if Kara’s naming places she knows, not wanting to press for further details when the woman is already clearly uncomfortable. “Oh,” a soft noise of surprise and sorrow escapes as Kara admits why she left, or rather, was sent away. “I’m sorry.” It seems deeply inadequate, but there isn’t anything better to offer. “Your sister, she came with you?” The phrasing suggests that her parents stayed behind, and Amy Aine can’t imagine the pain of that loss, abandoning literally your entire world and leaving behind loved ones you knew could be lost to you forever.

Just so she wouldn’t be alone for the first days. He could only imagine how hard it would be for her, even if she was always welcomed at his home anyway. “Hey. I was not a dorky kid. I was and still am your cool older brother.”

“Not often enough. I need my coffee when I go on an engineering binge.” He couldn’t help but poke her against her forehead, mindful of the sleeping infant in her arms. “Well now that your mini-me is here you’re allowed to drink coffee again or not?” If he would’ve had to miss coffee for so long like she did…well he didn’t think he would’ve been able to handle it. “Amy please…you of all people should know that getting my own kids is not very high on my to do list right now. Don’t even know if Pepper if wants kids….”

“Perfect,” she agreed with a smile. She had always detested hospitals, and though the doctors and nurses had been lovely throughout this visit, she couldn’t wait to just be back at home, away from the faint scent of bleach and the constant beeping and whir of the machines. All Amy Aine wanted was to curl up in her own bed with her daughter in her crib just beside her, where she belonged. “You were a mega-dork, and you still are,” she countered with a soft laugh, careful not to jostle Cathy May.

“I can have some coffee now, but since I’m gonna be breastfeeding I still have to limit it so the caffeine doesn’t pass on to her.” She’d opted to quit completely during the pregnancy, knowing that being allowed one cup every few days would only annoy her even more than having nothing. She pulled a slight face when he called her simply Amy, but didn’t comment, though if it had been anyone else they probably would have gotten a stern reminder of her preferred name. “Hand her this little one and about five minutes later she’ll want kids,” she offered, smiling down at the pink bundle in her arms. “She’s just too perfect to resist.”
