REALLY REALLY want to write a canon compliant post canon shuri/f!oc (or xma!ororo lmao) fairy tale + kidfic. i guess, how i met ur mom, except 100000000000 times better.

only, that would require research on..... so many things. language. african fairy tales. black panther comic canon. culture. etc.

plus, i'd have to figure out how to blend the fairy tale with scifi. which i totally love doing, but it can be pretty hard! so it'll probably take a while, even tho i want to start writing right now lol

seriously tho consider liz x shuri!!

like maybe at some point after infinity war, shuri is working on developing some super advanced new tech or something and she’s been at it for months but she isn’t getting anywhere

then one day she’s scrolling through tumblr or something and she sees all these people posting about this american girl named liz allan, who developed pretty much the same thing shuri had been trying to figure out during her first year at MIT???

and shuri is?? Baffled and kinda pissed bc she’s been working so hard, working with all the resources wakanda has, and then this american in college goes and does it all on her own??

so shuri arranges a meeting with this liz allan girl to discuss the tech she developed and to “display comraderie between wakanda and the rest of the world” (thats what she tells t'challa) but in reality she’s just dying to know HOW liz did it??

they meet in dc at this fancy restaurant and shuri tries to be as gracefully rude as possible (making comments about america/americans n stuff) bc she’s Bitter. but liz is just… so nice and charming and pretty and SMART and she easily keeps up with the questions shuri grills her with and by the end of the night, shuri is frantically texting t'challa to convince him to let liz come to wakanda and take a look at the stuff she’s working on.

she also may or may not have a small crush on liz. it’s nothing, really. liz is just a pretty girl who knows as much about biomechanical engineering as shuri does and that’s fine?? it’s fine shuri swears

long story short, shuri flies liz out to wakanda the next week, and liz stays there for a month. shuri tries sooo hard to be Professional but fuck she’s such a useless lesbian and she unwittingly ends up courting liz while t'challa makes fun of her for having a huge crush on an american girl.

they become gfs when shuri takes her for a picnic at one of her favorite places in wakanda on liz’s last day there and they kiss and everything is alright

uhh yeah sure anon, im always down with talkin about my gfs!

- so for one thing, they love doing spa days/spoiling each other. doing each other’s hair, painting nails, taking bubble baths together… they love it all

- they both love sharing stuff about their countries/cultures with one another. shuri takes liz on tours of wakanda’s most stunning natural wonders, whisks her away on a day of shopping and having fun in the country’s capital city, and guides her through museums and libraries full of artifacts and literature related to wakanda’s history, culture, and traditional relligious beliefs. liz, on the other hand, finds it hard to impress shuri with even the best of america- so she tends to do things like take shuri to mcdonald’s, or to carnivals, or mini golfing- small, simple things that shuri loves. i also hc liz as being jewish, so she’ll take shuri with her to worship sometimes and make sure she’s involved in special holidays/events so that shuri can learn as much as she can about liz’s faith as she educates liz about hers. 

- while liz definitely likes wearing dresses/presenting more femininely, after coming to terms with being a lesbian and being open about it, she sometimes finds it comforting and empowering to wear more masculine clothes- flannels, baggy jeans, clunky work boots- one time she attended a special event in wakanda with shuri and wore a suit (shuri loved it). shuri grew up a princess and is thus used to wearing pretty dresses/the traditional garb of wakandan royalty, but she LOVES wearing liz’s hoodies/sweaters/flannels (especially bc they’re a lil big on her). in general, shuri loves to just dress for comfort sometimes, which means she’s a fan of leggings, sweatpants, and loose hoodies/t-shirts!

- liz introduces shuri to jeopardy!, and from then on many of their stay-at-home date nights consist of them aggressively competing with each other and yelling at the tv. 

- liz loves to bake and cook, while shuri has pretty much never cooked for herself in her life. so they have fun trying to make food together- usually liz takes control and shuri just admires her gf for being to multi-talented

- shuri is a cat person but liz is a hardcore dog person. in general tho they both love animals so there’s no real animosity between them bc of it.

- they’re both night owls, and will stay up late reading quite often. lazy, late mornings in bed together become one of their favorite things

- all in all they’re soft gfs and i love them!!

upon learning Shuri is 16 in Black Panther, I quietly revise all my original shipping plans from “adults” to “Shuri is a hopeless baby lesbian with a crush on every single Dora Milaje and soon a big useless enormous crush on MJ, who is like a semi competent but mostly just grungy bisexual with a super popular twitter account that Shuri is obsessed with and MJ is s t o k e d about everything about Wakanda and tweets that she’s doing her senior research project on Wakandan tech and T’Challa, who follows his baby sister’s online crush’s twitter so he can forward Shuri the most embarrassing tweets that will make her furious (“YES BROTHER I DID SEE THAT SELFIE AND I DON’T NEED YOU TO REMIND ME OFF IT”), is like “this is the moment I was born for. This is why I became king” and tweets MJ like “we’re doing youth outreach, come to Wakanda, my very talented and smart and accomplished sister will give you a personal tour :)”  and MJ and Shuri simultaneously die”
