I lay in bed, slowly fading away when I hear my cell ring. It was Kobe. I nervously picked up. "Hey, uhh Rob, I hope I'm not disturbing anything right?" . "Uhh no, what's up Kobe?” . Imagine you were a professional boxer and instead of the boxing matches being set up based on weight class it was set up arbitrarily… You walk into the ring as a 140lb boxer but you are fighting someone who is 7ft 350lbs. Automatically it’s obvious that the fight isn’t fair…. Your opponent hits you with one shot and you go down for the count. You get back up and you try again… Same thing happens… The audience and commentators are begging and pleading for you to stay down but you refuse! You continue to get a beating but your fortitude won’t allow you to give up… Now everyone thinks you’re crazy! Even those who once supported you are now having doubts but again you refuse to quit…. Now I can paint a rosy picture of you being able to outsmart the boxer and finally winning the match but this isn’t Rocky and that isn’t the point… The point is that in life you will be given challenges that look unfair and impossible to beat. But if you know it isn’t fair to begin with but decide to approach the challenge in a conventional way then you are setting yourself up for failure! Instead of you keep taking a beating, find out what advantages you have and use them to win the battle! Even though you are doing just fine by yourself, you decide to hitch a ride. As the car is driving, you are noticing that it’s going the wrong way. You stop the car, get out, but instead of going your original way, you hitch another ride, and the same thing happens.. Now you are late for sure, and anxiety is kicking in, but once again, instead of going with what you know is the best way to get to your destination, you continue to let others guide you! How crazy would that make you?… Wait…Don’t Answer that!!! The truth of the matter is that this is exactly what happens everyday with our goals and aspirations! We know where we want to go, we know the best way to get there (whether its through planning or instinctively), but we allow others to take control and tell us which way is the best way! #SUNDAYMOOD I sat in awe of God yesterday as I read the various messages that came through on a recent and the many before that because it hit me again that my God given PURPOSE IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN ME. We can in some areas of our lives get wrapped up in ourselves. It's not bad to look out for you, but don't get absorbed by you. When I decided to start my The Kapow Effect, I did it with the view of empowering others on their journey with truths. To 'lend a hand' via a word or a thought that would encourage others travelling similar paths or going through similar challenges. To correct incorrect thinking and hopefully touch one person's life by shifting their perspective and reframing their reality. I had no idea that it would touch so many. Last night God showed me that our purpose on this earth is never about our little journeys only... it's always about the many. We are here, vessels serving unto God and we are connected. We each have a responsibility to those around us because when God gives you an opportunity it's so you can then go on and give others.
