Recently, I've been rewatching bob, and in ep10 I noticed a moment between winnix. It's right after they meet Sobel: Dick turns to Lew and the expression on Lew's face is something that I can't decipher and so I wanted to ask you what do you think was going through his head? Was it some bitter nostalgia? Or just him silently laughing at Dick's attitude?

Oh, you mean this?

This is just my personal interpretation, but I always thought about it as like... their double-act when it comes to handling Sobel together, ya know? If you watch Winnix closely when they're both dealing with Sobel at the same time, you'll notice that if one breaks out of attention, the other doesn't. It happens in the "It's a can of peaches, sir"; though Dick does famously smile a bit there, it's barely noticeable-- he's holding on very tightly to attention to resist breaking further, because Dick knows that if Nix is being sarcastic, then he can't afford to be. While only one of them can be in trouble at any time, both being in trouble might be too much (and they might be forced to separate). Kinda like naughty schoolboys when confronted with a strict teacher?

So, in my head, this scene in ep10 is just an extension of that. This time, it's Dick being sassy-- he gets to make a point while also getting Sobel to salute him. Lew, seeing this, clearly can't react while Sobel is still there to see him react, because it's now become a force of habit to play the complete and indifferent soldier while the other is being sassy, and he only breaks that façade and smiles when Dick looks at him-- which, by the way. Super cute.

Dick, who is famously sassy and dry humor-ed on his own, has never needed a tag-team to reassure him of his greatest hits... but he turns around to Nix anyway, as if to say "did you see that? did you see the way I ratio'd him?" and Nix just smiles because "yeah, honey, I saw" like????? can they get any more married?

Winnix moments that make me feral part 13/?

I could ramble about this scene forever. I don't believe we ever see any officers actually share a billet in the show? At least outright? But the way Dick just lingers in the window here means he either a) shared a room with Nix (I'd really love to know where the other bed is...) or b) went all the way to Nix's room to stare out the window and recenter himself. I could also go on about how Nix tells Dick to go without him but he can't go anywhere without his other half, how Dick calls Nix "Big guy" in the 5th gif, how Nix pushes Dick around like literally nobody else in the entire army would. Sigh.

Winnix moments that make me feral part 12/?

It took me a few watches to notice that Nix asks for the driver to stop in the first gif, and then does a little point at Dick in the second like "that's my man, we gotta get him." Then when Dick meets his eyes he looks so proud. Guh. I don't think I need to elaborate on the rest but the "going my way" and Dick's answering smile and the hand holding touching, the thigh pats, and the biggest smile I think we ever see from Nix throughout the show makes me scream.
