Sapnap’s mind freezes for a moment, processing, not entirely certain what he means by ‘different’. There’s relief in the assertion that their friendship is something special to Karl too, so he decides not to question it, though it nags at the back of his mind for the rest of the night.

i think something that’s so hard to even wrap my head around still is. yes this is The meetup and that first moment is what we’ve spent all these years anticipating but “meetup” sounds so temporary and this is the opposite of that. what about everything BEYOND the first meeting. like i cant fucking wait for the first picture first vlog first stream from the same room etc etc but what about everything after. they’re going to LIVE TOGETHER and spend every day together and become part of one another’s routines and we’ll get to see glimpses of it all and THATS the part i don’t even think i’ve started processing yet. this isn’t just a meetup it’s the beginning of forever and we’re lucky enough that eventually this togetherness that we’ll get to see for the first time will become so NORMAL that all of This will be a distant memory and it’ll seem so unfathomable to new fans that they ever weren’t all together because. they just belong. they always have. its just finally becoming real

Dream didn’t worry about any of these things when he met Sapnap, but he supposes that hardly even requires examination, because things have always been different with George.

He’s never been entirely sure why, but he has his guesses. Sapnap definitely seems fairly certain in his own assumptions, all knowing smiles across the kitchen island and raised eyebrows and elbows to the ribs on the couch whenever Dream makes an offhand comment about calling with George. Dream thinks he’s better off leaving the question unspoken, locking it away inside a box for later examination.

Guys all I can think about (I am crazy) is how we’re not just getting Dream’s face. We’re getting his eyes and expressions, his posture and if he taps his fingers if he’s nervous, his blush and his smile and a window right into his soul. We’re going to see what he looks like when he’s concentrating and when he’s happy and when he laughs, what he looks like when he’s looking at George because he’s waited so long for George, and how pale his skin is but how it’ll get tanner as he goes out and his freckles and his little fangs and his hair and what he likes to wear (or what he liked of our suggestions). We’re getting his voice when he’s finally where he wants to be with someone he’s wanted with him for a long time, and we’re getting it along with all of himself.

We’re getting all of Dream at his happiest.

retracing my steps

george comes home for the summer after his first year away at college, and dream decides 800 miles of driving are his last chance to convince him to stay.

childhood friends to lovers, roadtrip au, so much pining and introspection and emotional hurt/comfort and sharing a bed and healthy communication and an extremely happy ending i promise!

“You missed me,” George cuts him off and wraps his arms around his neck, pulling Dream into a second hug that’s somehow warmer than the first, even if less forceful.

“I missed you,” Dream affirms, the top of George’s head so close to his lips that he can feel his breathing shifting his hair. “So much, George.”

“I know,” George whispers, and Dream can hear the smile in his voice. And Dream knows that even if he doesn’t say it, the way George’s thumb brushes against his hair at the nape of his neck means I missed you too.
